Without carriers, it will be impossible to go pure air against zerg. Protoss would be the only race not able to go for pure air, which doesn't seem fair to me.
Dustin Browder thinks carriers don't have a purpose? How are battlecruisers any different? The development of HOTS was delayed to make the game more fun. Well, the carrier is way more fun than the tempest. Removing the carrier would be insulting to all the amazing special tactics that WhiteRa has pulled off with carriers. If you don't think carriers work, then you should watch some of WhiteRa's PvZ's, he still uploads replays and vod's to his site.
Heck, I even remember watching Nony play a 40 minute PvT where he went carriers and ended up winning. Not full on pure carriers, but it still worked out for him. I once won a long PvP cause I made carriers. Basically, carriers win games despite the hate that they get. Long live carriers!

Watching and rewatching the battle report just makes me really angry that they're being removed. 2 years we've sat with them on our Stargate list and they've has shit all to do. The most frustrating thing is blizzard have made no effort whatsoever to buff them in any way shape or form. Literally everyone in this thread wants them kept and viable. I urge everyone in the beta to moan and complain about it. Its the only way they'll listen.

A more constructive method would be to find us more videos of the Carrier in action.

Yeah that was my frustration speaking, apologies for that. Alas, I am not aware of any games off the top of my head, but I can provide some ideas I've had to improve the carrier if a straight numbers buff wouldn't be sufficient:
1)Give interceptors a small aoe affect when shooting ground units? It will fill a role of being anti-marine and be a viable end game unit to offer extra build diversity and as an alternative (not replacement) for the colossus. Obviously range would be nerfed, as tbh it doesn't do as a siege unit what colossus doesn't already do.
2) give it extra range so it is actually a siege unit and cannot be killed with units as quickly. The problem is the carrier is countered by every race (except pvp) by a completely standard build order, be it a spire or reactored Vikings. Brood a can float off the map or in an awkward position because void rays are not common in pvz.
3) Increase base armour to 2 so marines don't tear through it.
A few random ones off the top of my head I
Immune to neural Give it some sort of activated ability, maybe something that increases shield power temporarily or something Some sort of (slightly weaker) hardened shields as corruptor also destroy it.
Just a few ideas.

That other new air unit can "scan" (reveal) enemy buildings for a short time ... which basically lets you run in and reveal a building and then fire away from a safe distance for a few seconds. In other words: totally stupid and too complicated for pros as a viable tactic and the dps for Tempests sucks anyways (for 6 supply).

1) The whole point of carriers is that they don't have AoE. All other T3 Protoss units have AoE (except DTs, for obvious reasons), carriers trade AoE for just pure damage output.
2) Carriers are countered by stalkers in PvP. Carrier/immortal builds are possible, but they're still pretty fringe in terms of current meta-game. At any rate, carriers just need interceptor re-targeting, the current extended range of 14 is plenty.
3) Carriers already have 2 base armor.

1 gate FE into 3 gates, stargate, beacon, stargate make ~6-8 sentries to defend, add 3-4 gates, hope that the terran don't do some sort of timing push out with 4 carriers and gate units while reinforcing with mostly stalkers
