This is pretty cool IMO. I know a lot of people who didn't want to pay full price for this game and I'm gonna convince them to get an account now.
Spread the love!

Is it on sale in other regions also?

Quite interesting... Maybe I'll buy a second copy for an EU or KR account now...
Or is it only for NA version?

Wow I feel so bad cuz I basically forced my friend to buy this game at full price last week. If he had hesitated like he wanted to he would totally snatch it up now. I'm a douche XD

Is this a devious plan to get people buy more accounts (zerg/protoss/terran) right before expansion, so you have to buy multiple copies of expansions too? -.-
I'm tempted to buy another one, grr

I got it at release and didn't pay more. Amazon.co.uk for the win.

HMV had SC2 on sale for $20 awhile back and their site still lists it at that price. Going and getting it price matched at places that actually have it in stock from employees who don't check HMV store stock (they're always out) is a good way to get a good deal in Canada.
Not sure where else HMV has stores other than Canada and Hong Kong, and I have no idea what the price in Hong Kong is.

I'm tempted to buy another one, grr Why would you have to buy multiple expansions? As far as I remember, Warcraft 3 and WoW expansions have had serial keys that bind to your account. So I figure this would be the case in SC2 aswell. Then again, I haven't had multiple copies on same b.net account and I can't confirm if they are upgraded when buying single expansion (WC3/WOW).
Can anyone confirm which way does it work?

How likely do you think Blizzard will implement a second cd key just to prevent people with legit WoL copies from being able to pirate HotS? One account per cd-key = have fun buying more copies of HotS just to make your smurfs capable of playing post expansion.

Technically yes. You just need to contact Blizzard on their 1-800# and just state that you received a NA Sc2 however you already have a NA account and was wondering if there is anyway to make this a EU account.

After experience from playing on both I'd have to say.. not really. The skill level feels exactly the same until you reach the top 10% of masters. I'm a foreign exchange student from US studying in London (was 1600 masters season 3). I notice that you play a lot more "known" names on EU server than you would on NA so EU is definitely more top heavy with high level players.

Small note for those who bought the game recently and would like to benefit from the sale: you might want to try and send a ticket to Blizzard asking if you can still benefit from the sale.
I bought my game less than 24h before the sale began, so I sent a ticket and got refunded.. I don't know how much lenient they are on this, but it's still worth a try..

quick question, if you want a 2nd account in a different region, do you buy the 2nd game on the account you already have then transfer to the server you want? Or is it safer to make a whole new account, with a different email and everything?
also how do you get two sc2's installed on your computer? can I use the American install of sc2 and connect to different servers on b.net? or do you need to use two different installs?

It is. What is the min wage + average wage for Australia?
Lets just say for example in the U.S. the average person makes $15 an hour. Min wage is currently $8.
If in Australia the average is $22.5 (if we convert it to USD) and min $12 then it makes sense.
An exact comparison (2 exact same jobs):
People work at a fast food place in US and make $8.
However if said person works at fast food place in Australia and made $12 (then this applies to every other job too) then it'd be fair for games to cost more (publishers want to take advantage of higher wages made by Australians and Australians will still pay the same percentage of their salary as Americans).
Another comparison is inflation: Back in 1900s things cost pennies. Rarely more than a dollar. However people also only made pennies to for wages.
*Inflation happens
Now things cost more but people make more money.
Of course I don't know if people really make 50% more in Australian or not >.>. Just a comparison to show why if a country makes more money than another, it is justifiable for it to cost more (in either case, they'll be paying the same percentage of salary for something for example).
|
wow thats a great price. too bad I all ready payed full price for my game when it first came out.
|
anyone manage to change their account to KR/TW region??
|
i want to buy it but there are some doubts floating in my head...
i buy it now, hotS will come out and i have to buy again.
assuming there will definitely be a WoL + HotS bundle because you need WoL to play Hots, I'm thinking blizz will not charge 90 - 120$ for a game.
Possibly 90$. i can save 30 if i buy now i guess. this is assuming HoTS is 30$.
There's also a chance of sale % off when hots comes out like how ppl got WoL for 40$ or something when it came out...
I don't know, either way I'd probably have to spend aorund 60.

Just to show how backwards Australia is, in some places, I've seen SC2 for $100! You know their salaries are about 1.5x larger than Americans right? They get paid more for the same amount of work so things cost more for them. Hmm... $100 is not justifiable no matter what salaries are. When it first came out, I bought it for $70 (Dick Smith in Aust) when many shops were selling for $100. It's been more than a year, and no shop should be selling a year-old game for $100. And it's a small wonder why the retailers in Aust are complaining about Online stores... It is. What is the min wage + average wage for Australia? Lets just say for example in the U.S. the average person makes $15 an hour. Min wage is currently $8. If in Australia the average is $22.5 (if we convert it to USD) and min $12 then it makes sense. An exact comparison (2 exact same jobs): People work at a fast food place in US and make $8. *Inflation happens Now things cost more but people make more money. Of course I don't know if people really make 50% more in Australian or not >.>. Just a comparison to show why if a country makes more money than another, it is justifiable for it to cost more (in either case, they'll be paying the same percentage of salary for something for example).
I see what you're getting at with the minimum wage argument, but it's all quite irrelevant.
All that matters in being competitive on an international market is exchange rate and cost of shipping (which for purely digital content is zero).
If the exchange rate is bad then Australians are not justified in complaining about "overpriced" items. There is no simple solution to a bad exchange rate. If there are other reasons why the items are expensive (a general lack of competitiveness due to perhaps government regulations, monopolies or price fixing coalitions) then they have justified complaints imo. If the cost of shipping is what makes the prices high then perhaps there is a way around that (purchasing digitally).

NA only I wish SEA will have that kind of discount... 700k IDR is not a happy price for me

This is awesome. I have been waiting for a discount for so long.

Nice, it's only ~22 euros so it's really affordable. Might ask some of my friends to finally buy it.

I'm wondering this as well. I don't have a credit card. I think it's one of the differences between NA and EU. NA makes use of a ton of credit cards and EU has a ton of "online payment systems" (specific ones nationally, general ones or allowing payments as a deposit and so on) :o I've never "needed" one so I can't justify a yearly fee for it.
But I'd love a work around, even if anyone is experienced with one of those online credit card thingies. Where you can get a virtual card and then charge it with a system like paypal and use that to purchase an NA account. Think it would be great if some light could be shed on how those options would work. Thanks in advance!

Is this only available on blizzcard store or you can get it for $30 at stores like BestBuy etc.?
|
if i buy a NA copy can i play on the SEA servers as well? or is it just NA only?

Nice to know about the promotion. I also wonder if they will have SC2 on sale around the time of HotS's release or have some kind of package or what.

i buy it now, hotS will come out and i have to buy again.
assuming there will definitely be a WoL + HotS bundle because you need WoL to play Hots, I'm thinking blizz will not charge 90 - 120$ for a game.
You gonna play WoL when you have HOTS? Why?

Actually median household income is pretty much exactly the same, but Australia has a much higher tax burden.

I removed all the spaces between the digits and it did the trick for me, I used a prepaid card from 3vcash so if any other europeans without a creditcard tries to buy this, it'll work with that

Blizzard why y no like Europe! xD

I really need a SOLID statement about this, is it possible to buy the NA copy from EU, calling to blizzard making it EU/TW or whatever you prefer etc? from an EU Bnet account ofc.
trying to get like 10 friends of mine to start :D
Also, anyone confirming this: what exactly did you tell blizzard?

Also, anyone confirming this: what exactly did you tell blizzard? You are allowed to transfer an account once. Transferring from NA to EU or EU to NA, I've done myself. It's a smooth five minute call, you'll answer some account questions and your account will be transferred within a matter of seconds.
Transferring to/from KR might be problematic however. As KR has got a different support, with different tools and such.

Why blizzard.. I was discount on different regions!

i've been told by my friend that you cant, but your friends on SEA can go on NA to play with you, it's up to you to convince them

Really sad the EU don't get it but still hoping that Blizzard change and that they include EU into the deal.
|
Oh very cool, gonna have to get some more people online! Woot Woot!
|
I paid 40 € on release day at saturn for my copy, last christmas i got some friends into it, when amazon did its "buy 2 games- pay only the expensive game" special right before or after christmas, they got it for 20€ then. Was kinda hoping to do this with HOTS again, but it's not ready apparently, perhaps next Christmas...
(You could buy 2 copies of the same game)
|
gonna get one, and try to change to TW, will update u guys
|
Anyone have luck with getting a TW/KR account with this? if so how did you accomplish it?
|
I am having some difficulties buying the NA edition and was hoping that someone could be so nice to buy this game and send it to me as a gift. Ofcourse I will pay in advance using paypal. I have tried buying it myself using virtual credit cards (yes like 4 different versions) called with blizzard for over an hour on the phone with no succes. So if anyone could be so nice, I would very much like to play on the US servers but blizzard is making it me very hard to do so. I am even prepared to pay a little extra for the effort.
|
Nice blizzard. Maybe I'll buy a smurf or something.

Just so you all know, they did NOT let me purchase the American version and transfer it over to the Eu server. Which was really a bummer. :/

How did you contact them? What did they say?
|
I called customer support, and asked if they could switch a new account to Eu, and the guy said "Because of the black friday deal we will not be able to transfer accounts to Eu at this time."
|
Is this deal on available through their site or can you get it at some other place like gamestop also?
|
Name change is only $30 this week :D
|
It's a sale? That sucks. I thought it was a price drop, it's been already a year after all with the expansion looming about.

But.. maybe they will transfer it once the black friday ends? Or all games bought this week won't be able to transfer to EU? maybe we can just buy it, activate the key once the weeks finishes, and then transfer account to EU..

I would try again. Maybe you'll get lucky with a different employee. Try and find the one sucker who didn't get the memo lol.

I'm really debating, because i could just transfer my first account technically, so i don't know why they would care. I will probably purchase it tomorrow and pray they do it haha.

Blizzard aren't stupid. They can see you paid 29 bucks for the game, and they will not transfer it to EU.

well seems like again Blizzard - to say it as it is - fucks with Europeans. First still no PTR, now this action.
I'd love to buy an additional account, but not if I have to play with lag

Blame your country for not being greedy fucks and running a sexy ass shopping holiday that follows a cram-your-face holiday.

How are they fucking with us? We don't have Thanksgiving, hence no Black Friday sales. If this counts as Blizzard "fucking with us", then every company whose products are sold in Black Friday sales are fucking with us.

Well, there's Christmas.
Although yes, our traditional holidays tend more towards alcoholism than consumerism.

39.99 euros, 29.99 pounds

Wow, how can they even call that a sale? You can still get a copy of Starcraft 2 from retailers in the UK for less than that on a normal day. They're putting it on sale for £29.99 when most retailers already sold it for that if not less -_-
