hate to make an op with so little content but based on the name chance thread Hongun is no longer of the prime clan. will edit in more information once ive found / been told about it

all we have so far is speculation. doesnt seem like any news site has the story yet but theres always 1 possibility...
Hongun just replied on twitter to a question about leaving Prime as it being "a secret". so i guess that kind of confirms he is leaving the team, it also probably confirms we wont be hearing anything more about it for a few days.
please close this, it lacks so much information it's not even funny. You can't conclude anything from that besides the fact he wants his TL id to only spell HongUn..
Keep in mind that a lot of the Korean progamers who have been leaving teams end up streaming alot on TL in order to advertise themselves to the foreign scene I suppose. So if this is the real HongUn then that would explain the name change even though he had no prior posts, it would just be planning for his future career in the foreign scene. Like someone else said, Check did the same thing. I'm pretty sure Sleep did as well.
It's weird because it seems like Prime is the only Korean team that actually makes money and has a real business/marketing strategy (well, maybe Startale and oGs?) .. but they seem to be struggling with retaining members.
Really wonder what's going on behind the scenes over at Prime, has to be something O_O

hongun was still in prime when he played code a last week.

damn i could have sworn he left lol... maybe I'm getting confused with someone else
thx tho
fuck shit i hope he doesn't retire T_T but for that other, more important goal/dream in life he mentioned, i hope he can keep us posted on that <3
I would assume its the real hongun with the info posted here. There are ton's of members here who have 1-5 posts a year and simply come here for the information not to post anything.
Poor Prime and ZeNEX lately it seems like they are losing lots of good players.

Don't forget they have a puppy now! Maybe hongUn afraid of dogs? ^^"

Not really surprising since he has talked about quitting before. The only thing that kept him going was placing high in Code S. Now that he's not there anymore he might be wanting to stop/take a break.

How about all fans go PM/post in his thread and in his chat encouraging him, reminding we <3 him? I really don't want him to go
if he has no more motivation he will go on to achieve that other goal/dream in life he mentioned it seems like a good time now to do that, since he's out of Code A and will take a while to get back into Code S.
You know, it would be smart of TL to not use an actual picture of the player they are planning of picking up if they wanted to keep it a secret, knowing that TL'ers would eventually be able to figure out the exact picture they used for the blackout.
AFAIK HongUn doesn't live in the Prime house (whether he did before or not, iono), Check also did not live in the Prime house. Perhaps, Prime is trying to be stricter with their practice now and be something similar to Zenio-oGs situation. Where players who no longer wish to stay in the team house will be allowed to leave the team on good terms?

Polt also didn't live in the team house.
Luckily for Prime, BbongBbong looks like he could be the next big zerg on the scene, and Creator has loads of potential and with the new system, could be in Code S by no time. Sadly, on paper, there second best player, GhostKing, will be out of action for a few months.

he will be remembered for carriers/motherships xD
and his epic blink micro.
Maybe you are thinking of Polt? He left prime and he was one of their big names (for the person you thought left prime)

Oh, that's definitely it. I knew I had to have mistaken it for something, haha. I was thinking Byun but that didn't make sense. I just remember looking at the AoL lineup and looking at Prime and being disappointed that the 2nd player was bboonbboong instead of someone else. Must have confused HongUn with Polt there! :D
ALSO, HONGUN WILL FUCKING BE AWESOME TO JOIN SLAYERS.
Think about it... HongUn LOVES micro, he's creative, and he fucking makes carriers.
He's like the SC2 version of Nal_Ra (especially if HongUn decides to quit progaming soon lol...)
And Nal_Ra was described to be the protoss version of Boxer back in BW.
HongUn has mentioned how his CTS has been making practice quite difficult for him. Perhaps his drop from Code A persuaded him to take a break. He's also 24, so he might be thinking about getting his military service out of the way.
I dunno, that's kind of a lot to assume, but as other people have said, he does suffer from CTS and did recently drop out of the GSL entirely, as well as having his military service to get done.
With all this, it would be understandable if he left prime and (temporarily, at least) retired from progaming.
he just dropped out of GSL, it's a very unusual timing to leave a team. i wouldn't be surprised if hongun took a break from professional sc2, whether it be temporary or permanent.

you have to edit your post now--artosis already said in last night's gsl that the newest TL player is
This is really interesting. A few days ago he was streaming and people in the chat were shouting things like SlayersHongUn, LiquidHongun, etc. and he replied with something like "good team names." I thought it was a little weird but I didn't make much of it since I thought he was being polite. Hope he's happy with where he ends up though. Great player.
This is so sad. First Polt, Check, HongUn. There's like no one good left for MarineKing Prime has always been my favourite team but I hope if this negatively affects the members that they'll split up into different teams.
During HongUn vs Luvsic in code A, Wolf said that HongUn is going to dedicate less time to the pro-gaming, since he decided to go to school; so i guess he left Prime because he won't be active on the scene

Thats a shame, but he also made no secret that he wont be doing pro-gaming forever and with the wrist injury, he only really play for his fans. Im quite sad because I really like Hongun, and with him gone Prime will be weaker, which is also a shame since I really like Prime too.
My HongUn moment was definitely in the GSTL when Teaja beat MKP. HongUn went out and proceeded to smash 3 Slayers Terrans. I remember in the GSL group selection sometime after HongUn said that he was so angry with Taeja for humiliating MKP that he got into beastmode and get revenge for his teamate. What a guy he is!
Hmmm, I really like Hongun and prime. This makes me sad, especially if he is leaving for another team. But oh well I will have to continue cheering for him.
If its due to his CTS then its understandable. Sad because he was one of my fav players

Good for him, gotta respect someone who knows their priorities.

They still have CreatorPrime, who seems to be a really promising Toss. And Byun is technically still in the practice house, so he definitely has good TvT practice.

And BboonBoongPrime who is showing a lot of promise recently. Prime team is still fine.

I think players just like the appeal of being on teams with more known players such as ST.

Prime has MarineKing, and they made the GSTL Finals this season.
I think it's more likely a case of HongUn backing off because of his wrist problems.
We are losing one great protoss player, T_T He is the kind of player make SC2 more innovative. So sad that he's having physical problem and have to let it go.
What I've heard is that this might be his last GSL and that he will focus on school.. And he did get knocked out so I dont think he will continue with his pro-gaming career
Not too surprising. If you remember back couple months ago, when he was still in code S, he was constantly complaining about wrist pain and was about to retire. His family (i think) or team convinced him to continue back then, but I guess he decided to take it easy now that he's out.
If he doesn't retire he'll go to TSL I think he said that one of the reasons he stays in progaming his friendship with clide so I don't see him going anywhere except there.
Didn't Polt leave Prime for kind of the same reason? I don't think the word 'quit' ever floated around with Polt, but he did leave to pursue school a little more and got picked up by TSL, so, I don't know?

Don't blame him, he attends the best university in Korea.

Polt had an amicable split with Prime. His views on the team's progression or mentality differed from that of his coach. They discussed it, and decided that a different team would be a better fit for him.
He is now a free agent. According to some other tweet of his, he is currently looking/taking offer from non-korean team and i think at least 2 teams had express their interests . Best of luck to carriers guy

actually liquid'hongun would be an awesome pick up as a way to fill the void (see what I did there) of protosses in TL...after Huk left tyler is the only one and I feel that Hongun would do well under liquid due to the more relaxed nature of the team!

Tyler isn't the only protoss on TL, they also have Hero.

Was watching his steam. He confirmed he is teamless and Quantic gaming was actually the chat trying to get hold of him, stating they were interested in signing him. He actually shut off the steam to talk with them on Skype I believe.
