With an average game length of 7m36s over his 6 games in GSL3, this is a no-brainer. BitByBit pulls more SCVs than yo momma at a club on Mar Sara. ♞

TvP is already nearly impossible late game, Terran was trying to crush toss early and toss was going for late game, these changes just make that gap even bigger.

I don't get it.

They reduced upgrade costs because in PvT if you're behind a terran in upgrades you can kiss that game goodbye. Being ahead in upgrades is essential as a toss against terran (and zerg too).

Finally storms and EMP have the same radius!

Now to lower EMP and snipe range to make it equal to storm and feedback....

Sweet! They talked about them at Blizzcon...and now they deliver...in the PTR. At first it seemed odd that the solution to weak gateway units is to reduce upgrade costs. But those reduced costs will free up just a little bit of precious gas. The shield cost reduction might encourage some experimentation.

Thanks Blizz...let's hope these make it.

I hope you're kidding, it's not gonna change much at all, it's gonna add 2-3 more units to their 3-0-3 army at the same timing...

well upgrade cost reduce is a nice idea to buff the toss without buffing the late late game where they are close to be overpowered (talking about 3/3/3 with 5k banked minerals late game here ).
Emp nerf is okay as it will reduce the effect of the emp barrage on casters and 100+ shield units, while the rest won't be affected. I am just worried about storm that cannot be stopped if the toss sends hts to the front. (well before it was the ghosts emps, but hey they are the expensive ones). But well ghosts survive a storm barrage so guess you can suicide some ghosts. to get rid of the storms.

Just waiting for the 25-50 mineral reduce on cost for ghosts the next patch.

European Diamond Terran AND Platinum Protoss. Today I played 14 games against Protoss, none made an expansion, always cheese or bust and that's how it works since 1.4 Don't know what league you are playing in, but that's standard in EU Diamond.

As a Protoss player, I have to say that all the changes are incredible stupid and Protoss are viable becoming a low APM a-click race. Of course you could play creative, but cheese and turtling is so efffective.


Wrong in so many ways.... Diamond/Platinum represent!


corvaleur's post makes no sense at all anyway. Yeah sure, cheaper upgrades for double forge play and EMP nerf are going to buff the one base all ins he loses to on the ladder.

Reason for changes:

EMP sorta needed this.

Upgrade cost decreased = Blizzard is pissed and disappointed that toss aren't using chrono boost and upgrades to their advantage, thus this buff is only to promote usage similar to the warp prism. I wouldn't be surprised to have the upgrade cost changed back for HoTS.

Or learn to play better, at diamond/master level 1/1/1 was never a problem for me because I was better than my opponents. It will be the same end game in TvP.

The good is that korean pro terran will stop winning every late game scenario with just EMP. And will have to do something more complicated than EMP carpet bombing if the Toss opponent just spread his units. Late game PvT wil be intersesting once again.

No I didn't. Upgrades are a 1 time thing. Competent players would make more than 1 obs throughout the game.

1.42 upgrades would cost a grand total of 75/75 less throughout the whole game for 3/3.

Yes it's an unfair advantage for Protoss and I don't agree with it, but people are making it sound like you can magically get them out so much faster now that 2/2 is 25/25 cheaper!!

This buff feels more like a placebo than anything else.

Seriously though, nice patch. I love the chrono-boosted upgrade heavy Gateway style of Protoss.

That was just my point, people are getting these upgrades anyway already. So the timing needn't change a bit. Only now, when they have completed 3/3/3, they will have about 4 units more. Is that a huge buff?


emp isnt really a nerf either. you still target sentries and archons and they will get raped by the damage.

in situations of stalker/colossus deathball, i guess it helps there. but who really does that anymore
