The Team Liquid Team Map Contest Tournament is back for it's 5th edition and with it we have a selection of tournaments to be played to help see the maps in action!
This year we will be hosting an open cup for each of the team formats : 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4.
In addition we will be running a newly designed 2v2 all-kill format in which two teams of 6 players each will battle across a bunch of 2v2 matches!
Open Sign-up Cups
Prize money splits for each event can be found on the tournament sign-up page.
2v2 Open Cup - Tuesday, Sep 16 11:00am GMT (GMT+00:00)
3v3 Open Cup - Thursday, Sep 18 11:00am GMT (GMT+00:00)
4v4 Open Cup - Friday, Sep 19 11:00am GMT (GMT+00:00)
2v2 All Kill Event
Sunday, Sep 21 11:00am GMT (GMT+00:00)
The tournament will be split into two teams of 6 - selected by nominated team captains. Players from the top teams in the 2v2 Open Cup will be prioritized as invites, but there is no set amount of "qualified" spots as we aim to maximize the amount of players of each race etc.
Teams will battle for $1,000 of prize money, split 75%/25% between the winning and losing team.
The match starts with each team selecting a 2v2 team from their squad of six players and these two teams then play a BO3. The losing team of the BO3 will lose one player from the 2v2 that was just played and they will be eliminated from the event. Then they will have to send another player to join the player that just played but was not eliminated against the same 2v2 combination of their opposing team.
After this first match, in following matches that a team loses the player that is eliminated will always be the player that has lost two series.
Example:
Match 1 - Players A & B (Win) vs Players 1 & 2 (Lose) [Losing team chooses to replace Player 2]
Match 2 - Players A & B (Lose) vs Players 1 & 3 (Win) [Losing team chooses to replace player A]
Match 3 - Players C & B (Win) vs Players 1 & 3 (Lose) [Losing team must replace player 1 as it is the second series they have lost]
Match 4 - Players C & B vs Players 4 & 3 and so on.
A team wins when the other team cannot field a 2v2 team due to too many players eliminated. Sadly players voted against a 1v2 final stand match.
