@ Blizz
Notsureifstupidortrolling.jpg
Zerg Expansion
Zerg units added - 2 units removed- 1
Protoss units added - 3 units removed - 2
Terran units added 3 units removed
Lets have a look at the units -Zerg units look good no complaints there
Warhound- lets make another maurader type unit but better that can shoot air
Helion transformer- So apparently Kitelots are OP- lol
Tempest- Air collosus- pass Oracle- more flying chandeliers for my army yay Replicant- will be game breaking or toothless wont find a happy medium someone previously mention dark archons were the same cost and better and hardly got used.
Then blizzard remove the unit I most associate protoss with the carrier basically because they couldnt be bothered balancing it- who wanbts the tempest over interceptor swarms...
Very dissapointed

So many nerds are going to throw such tantrums over this, take the usual patch whine and multiply it by a million
Neeyyyrr we can't deal with change.. neeyyyrr the game is now broken.. aaand so on and so forth
I for one welcome our new changes, it'll almost be like the beta all over again, everyone "rediscovering" the game, fun times!

Yeah there is absolutely no way that the tempest will counter vikings since it has bonus to light and vikings are supposed to be strong versus armored capital ships. So blizzard is replacing the carrier with a unit that will suffer the exact same problem - it is countered by the exact same thing that colossus is, so you only use one of them.
Browder seems to have no idea what he's doing.

cool units. can't wait to play and see them in action. most intrigued about the oracle unit.

I actually don´t like the Tempest, strangely enough. It´s too much gas for allready gas starved Protoss, and while it might be a counter for mutalisks for Protoss, it doesn´t feel like a big enough role. It´s basically a big and slow corsair that is only good against Mutalisks. The only other light air unit is the Banshee, but you never mass them like mutalisks, and banshees can be taken care of by any flying anti-air unit, voidrays or phoenix work both. It´s a counter against one tactic in one match-up, and it can´t do anything else.
Also I don´t like the graphics, it shoots balls of lightning that explodes, and against ground it shoots one wimpy lightning bolt, making Voidrays a better choice in most situations. It´s not the protoss capital ship I imagined.
I think I would have prefered giving the carrier upgrades for Interceptors with AoE damage versus light air and perhaps bombs against buidlings. Or give the phoenix their overload ability back, either would have been a counter to mutalisk, without making a unit that can only do one thing.

Swarm host looks like it will be terrible against marines / drops and it doesn't look like it can control space at all. (it spawns 2 timed units every 20 seconds or so, that you have to rally apparently wtf)

* Let me get this straight... Warhound wrecks mech, and Battle Hellions wreck bio. RIP Gateway units for Protoss?
* Instead of carrier and mothership, we got 2 spheres. One of which is a hand-me down from Zerg (Oracle/Overseer), which Zerg already made overlords for supply. The other one is a 200-200 unit that can only copy units that cost less than 200-200
* Tempest fills the role of "capital ship dedicated to killing mutas" but it can also zap ground units a bit.
I think Protoss is getting screwed here.

How many times do you see a Protoss army snipe a hatchery only to be overwhelmed by wave after wave of Zerg units? Never again. EMP, Terran army stims... warp out 6 pool? Turn your nexus into a cannon.
And the Oracle is going to be an awesome harass unit. Instantly shut down a mining base or completely stop production of a key unit.
Terran and Zerg have some new options but they don't have a straight up buff like the Nexus changes provide.

I wanted the Lurker for protecting my bases against drops! This swarm host doesnt fit in this role, 8marines in a medivac will easily kill the spawnlings.....damnit just give us a lurker and not a new gimmicky unit that sounds good on paper -.-

Typical postmodernism. If there were no difference between good change and bad change, every new game would be equally good. Obviously that's not the case

How can you say this or that is useless when blizzard could change a variable to make any unit 10 times stronger by tomorrow.
I dont even believe the abilities will stay this way, Blizzard basically just thought oh shit we need something to present so lets throw some of our concepts at them and see what people think.
The only thing is are these ideas interesting or not and would they make the game better if done right.

I am also sick of all the naysayers. Why do some people have to be so quick to start trashing new ideas from Blizzard? Sure, something may look OP or useless now, but until this stuff is tested in professional games we don't know. And here's the good news! If something does turn out to be OP or useless, Blizzard has unlimited time to nerf or buff it. I'm tired of all these overly-reactionary nerds who think trashing Blizzard is the new black.
Have faith - all things considered, at the very least Blizzard has produced a game that managed to attract hundreds, if not thousands, of screaming fans to watch the GSL Code S final today. HotS will screw things up for a while (aka provide some very interesting months of Starcraft). Most of us are not professional SC2 players and haven't invested our livelihoods into this game, so embrace the changes and enjoy the experience!

Well, from the preview it appears to have a range of 5 at best, so it might not even get to actually attack Vikings in a normal engagement.
By the way, I will laugh so hard if Oracle ends up being armored, and dying to 3 Viking shots like the old Warp Prism.
|
So we make a new Carrier that has the same problems as the old one BUT counters Mutas and only Mutas. Yay -.- It's still countered by Vikings and - guess what - Marines. Don't see it being used very often.

This is a company, not a religion. You sound like another victim of marketing.
If you have positive impressions, post them. But let the people who dislike the changes voice their opinion too.
You should be ashamed of yourself for standing up for a corporation of all things.

I'm not complaining about it being to weak, it's about bad design because only one of the two units will be used just like it is right now with the carrier/colossus.
I don't care about how strong shit is, but how it will play out. And most of this new stuff is just horrible in that regard, it's like they just added a bunch of stuff because it sounds cool.
