Not sure why everyone wants the lurker/reaver? I think marauders would destroy either of those units. They would be either horrible or OP in SC2.

You think wrong, plenty of people have thought of it but it is a fairly bad idea.

One SCV doesn't repair especially fast and can only repair some units and a small part of the health of those units. For 200/200 + building time, you are pretty much better off with another entirely fresh colossus.
I can no longer rest under the tree of wisdom, since you have axed down the roots feeding it.

overall it looks good and i am interested what will survive testing or how it will be changed, the one thing i do not like is the replicant, it basically means that they have given up designing protoss as a complete race "you lack something? steal it."

Any unit, when by itself, will get quickly overrun by a large mass of units. But what happens when you mass a ton of that unit?

A zergling takes 24 seconds to spawn. Pretty comparable to the locust spawn time. Let's say a each locust is about as good as 3 zerglings. A single swarm host would basically give you non-stop production of 6 zerglings. Not a big threat. What happens if you have to 5 swarm lords? Then you have non-stop production of 30 zerglings -- which is a far bigger threat. And think about how cost-effective zerg armies could be.


I'd rather just have 30 zerglings. This unit can't really be used in battle, because it is unlikely that the battle is long enough to see the 3rd maybe even second round. and the swarm host has to be burried way back or they just gonna be focussed down immediately. the only role is that siege kinda thing, I can see that being useful, but it's not a combat or a defensive unit imo

Did anyone notice the health of an Oracle? It's 20 shields and 80 health according to one site I'm reading. The thing is going to die if a stimmed marine or queen sneezes at it, may need the warp prism treatment.

I've been reading this over and over- are these ALL the new units? Or is blizzard holding out any more units as teasers? (I haven't read anything to say one way or another)

Your analogy doesn't make sense. The reason Psi Storm is ineffective against Ultralisks is because they have lots of Hp and are very large, and therefore, few of them are affected by any one cast of Storm. Psi Storm doesn't even have a bonus vs. light.

Vikings and Corruptors tend to clump together. AoE is AoE, and hitting 7 Vikings is still hitting 7 Vikings. It doesn't matter that the Tempest has a damage bonus vs. Light. What matters is how much damage it does against armored units and how good the AoE is.

Is protoss unpopular or something? Browder already admitted that the new units are marketing motivated, but I don't understand how it'd help sell the game to gimp protoss so much.

how is protoss gimped by any of the new stuff?

they might not be very exciting units (after a day of thinking about them, none of the new units really are) but protoss isn't going to be weaker or gimped by the new units compared to how the race is today

its not that Protoss is gimped, its that it doesn't look like it will get that many improvements compared to the other races.

I didn't think I would ever say this in my life, but I am not sure I want to continue playing Starcraft 2, some of the changes are good but most are just so dumb, after watching preview of new units I am really sad.
I don't read the script. The script reads me.

He meant the Colossi kill Marines and Tempest kills vikings. I dont see them not being effective against Vikings when you have a few as otherwise they would only be better voidrays that cant be countered by mutas but idk.

After the initial excitement I am pretty sceptical about the new units.

Mass Recall seems to be way op. The Swarm Host is ridiculously weak considering its cost and tech. What about Zerg detection? Tempest looks totally useless. Mutas are strong because of the mobility and I don't see the Tempest as a fast unit. For base-defense you could as well leave some HTs and Archons at home or maybe build cannons. No need to build fleat beacon just to deal with mutas.

But what I really don't get is the fact that every P Unit will cost a ridiculous amount of gas. There is simply no way P can build all these things. I guess P will stick to Collossi which are so easily countered. But hey, new Mass Recall could fix everything.

I really don't get the design.

The most disappointing thing for me so far is that they didn't remove the Collossus. I was almost certain they would replace it with something exciting.
