We're fresh out of the Heart of the Swarm Multiplayer panel conducted by Dustin Browder, David Kim, and John Menke, and there's so much to report that we're not even sure where to start. Suffice it to say that this expansion is going to be a complete game-changer.

Every race is OP now. And thus, balance might be achievable =P

That said, surprised that nothing was done about the Collosus. Seems odd given Dustin mentioned it as a "boring" unit, which is generally agreed with.

EDIT: And I think I sort of agree with the sentiment that Protoss got expensive gimmicks =/

200 Gas is alot to a Zerg in early/mid Game and Viper can only use Cloak ability once after its made.

So if You lose your Cloak detect in your army as a Zerg when Attacking the Protoss and they warp in DT's Your push is Ended and you have to get another Viper.

Zergs units are a dime a Dozen they die so Often i can't see this being a reliable cloak detector.

Traitor to the swarm you are. Removing The Oversee Doesn't Make any Sense. Its just David Kims Wet Dream to Let Cloaked Units run Rampant

I really really don't like the Shredders. I know that they have a lot of balancing and work to do before anything gets finalized, but the core concept of it is bad. It is a set it and forget it unit that can be overly devastating. Terran also isn't in need of something else to control space and increase their ability to turtle. How early in the game would this come out? Is this something that would force Roaches if they were to come out before a player could have mutas out.

According to the post theres barely any splash damage if any. Also thors have huge health and can keep firing. It sounds like Warhounds can be oneshot by huge mutaballs


If you listened to the panel, you would know that they exchanged the thor for the warhound since they will be better at fighting big muta balls. Thors are too clumpy and large, take too muc supply and cant really be massed. The warhounds are cost effectively much better against mutas. Thats what the panel guys said at least.

Do not like the sound of these protoss units. All I wanted was something to feasibly counter marines that wasn't deep tech, and a raid type unit that could actually kill decent numbers of workers. Instead I'm going to get a unit that can't actually kill the workers... but merely prevents mining until you dps the casing down... or time elapses.. Weak.

True, but in a 200+ page thread I am hardly surprised.

Although, could be worse, I was told the Q&A was rather tedious with some of the questions.

What is the point of it though, you pay 200 gas to get it to turn into...a 100 gas seige tank? By pricing the seige tank at 100/100 surely that is what blizzard thinks it is worth... What exactly would be to gain by spending 200 gas to clone something much cheaper?

Also I see blizzard was very cheeky with this; in essence they didn't really create a new unit, they just let you choose to turn it into any pre-existing unit! Working hard boys!

The moment I saw the units for Toss, I knew Blizzard did NOT deliever us what they promised to. 2 Stargate unit, one replacement for Carriers, and the other is a support caster "raiding" unit. This isn't going to magically solve Protoss issues against Terran and Zerg.

The mass recall on Nexus, and little defense is going to help, yes. But the main issue lies with the Toss units, not damn Stargate units.

I been thinking about switching to Zergs for a very long time, since BW actually, I might go through with it if Blizzard would start thinking another approach with Protoss.

As far as the terran units go, i think the warhound(coughgoliatchcough) looks pretty sick cool.

The transforming hellion, meh but i guess it fills the right role (making hellions survive lategame)

The shredder thing WOULD be awesome if it didn't shut down+no friendly fire. (none of the other races have friendly fire =[ )

I'd have to say Protoss needs it more than Zerg. Terran have marines though xD.

Axe colossus, buff gateway units, Protoss has the strongest units again, let the new units fall where they may, eliminate them where necessary. Done.

The recall is gonna really help protoss with harassment i think. 75 energy isn't that much especially past early game. I could see toss in pvz sneaking out a round of stalkers to a zerg expo, killing a few drones, and then being recalled back to the nexus for safety. Atleast thats how i think it would be used.

Also it says in the description that the warhound is good against siege tanks. Does this mean bio with warhound will counter siege tanks in tvt? Not sure why they would want that
