sigh this is what im talking about. u guys do know that vipers make any and all spell casters useless right? so replicating a infestor wont do anything to the deathball as long as u can get some clouds on it. ur better off replicating a viper then an infestor.

its not a question about "needs" its a matter of FUN and strategical depth. 1a deathball play is boring, i would love to have some tactical, space controlling units.

I completely fail to understand the logic here. Blizz said Terran was the most complete race and yet they add 3 new units without removing any other, compared to Protoss who get 3 new units while getting the mothership(which was seriously starting to pick-up vs zerg both with timing pushes and as a counter to broodlord/infestor) and the carrier removed? Flawed.

Were did you get that? From what I understood from the panel they use a certain amount of energy to turn another unit into a detector permanently. That means a single Viper can turn several units into detectors over time.


Exactly. I'm starting to think that this "viper" thing is going to be less of a defiler and more like a flying queen. I wouldn't be surprised to see it birthed right from the lair, with no larva involved.

Why? Its better than Thor vs Mutas


According to the post theres barely any splash damage if any. Also thors have huge health and can keep firing. It sounds like Warhounds can be oneshot by huge mutaballs

New use for Replicant in PvP !

Protoss A => Basic X Gateways with Blink stalker + Replicant
Protoss B => Many Tech (lot of investment) Gateway + Immo/Colossi + High Upgrade

Protoss A use Replicant for Immo/Colossi and get the upgrades of Protoss B.

Nexus Abilities

In Heart of the Swarm, the Nexus has a pair of new abilities that will help Protoss players on the defensive.

Arc Shield

Cost: 25 Energy
Effect: Place an anti-light cannon on top of any structure for a brief period of time.

This will be a nice defensive ability for Protoss players protecting an early expansion, and later on in the game for protecting outlying expansions against small raids. It seems like there could be potential to use this ability to protect proxy Pylons during an early attack as well.

Recall

Cost: 75 Energy
Effect: Transports selected units to target Nexus

The Mothership is gone, and the Recall ability has been moved to the Nexus. Because of the high energy cost, it seems that this is an ability we'll only see in the later stages of the game, and as a defensive/retreat measure.

i have one thing to say about these changes. i missed this at first, however i am now thinking to myself.... WTF..... how retarded is blizzard for putting something so stupid and nonsensical in these changes.


even if blizzard intends to do a beta and fix everything before release... how could something so STUPID as this even make it past initial concept stages....

Corrupters now have a channeled ability against building that gives one mineral a second and does 1dps.

i really like it actually. gameplay notwithstanding of course since we haven't played it, but it's a neat idea, and it makes the zerg more zergy. people are always complaining about how zerg doesn't feel 'swarmy' enough in sc2, but between infested terrans, broodlings from broodlords and now locusts, i feel like it's kind of hard to argue that. it also seems like it might be a threat that grows as the battle goes on - i haven't read anything about these units being on a timer so a decent pack of swarm hosts (i'll admit i hope the name changes to something catchier) adding disposable units to an army could be a really bad thing for the other player to ignore.

i dunno i'm just not that nostalgic about the lurker. it was badass and all but i'm glad they're attempting new mechanics with a different style even while they recognize that those old lost units have left holes that needed to be filled. but i'm just imagining the wall of broodlings, locusts and infested terrans slowly rolling over everything and getting chills from it. (besides the egg-spawned units that will obviously be what you want to focus on microing.

isnt it 200 min 200 gas for the replicator? Does the unit retain a new value of hit points or does the replicator have a set number of hit points no matter what it duplicates


There are lots of ways to balance this unit so I would suggest whiners to stop whining
