That's because speed hydras in the early mid-game would be exceedingly overpowered with their current stats in this particular game. Late game with speed I think they're still going to be quite strong but having it at lair could mean some absurd tactics. Hydras, cost for cost, beat everything that comes out of the gateway for example, with the exception of high templar with storms. With speed letting you micro off creep, your aggression would roll protoss every time unless they rushed to colossi ASAP, which would have to be the only way to play.

So against Zerg/Protoss it can essentially contaminate ALL production facilities? If I'm going Roach-Hydra and use it on those two tech buildings then I'm basically fucked. At least Contaminate only affects one Warpgate (unless you have multiple Overseers of course). This definitely won't make through the beta in that state.

actually, zergs don't have overseers anymore and the caster requires spire. so they are forced to go spire every game

Zerg can take free 3 base vs any not-all-in protoss opening right now, easily taking 4-6 base if protoss moves to 3 base and turtles to 200/200.


I think it will be possible to max on whatever the hell you please, same as infestor/blord now.


If you leave a zerg alone, he will build 20-30 infestors and just cap on brood lords, it just doesnt work out


The same way you can't go for BL Infestor in midgame, you won't go for viper infestor army in midgame.
And in lategame, ghost and templar are here to deal with them, as a double caster centric army is going to be very weak to emp/feedback.

Zerg and Terran got a lot cooler. (Corrupter and Reaper still seem lame though).

The tempest is cool, but honestly the other two units seem boring.

You also have to consider the cost of the unit, it might very well cost as much as multiple overseers.

I'm thinking only spellcasters within the cloud will be hindered by it. Psi Storm and splash damage would still be viable a la Brood War, hopefully.

Why is everybody immediately dismissing the Replicant simply because the things it can copy cost less than it? People honestly don't understand a thing about economics (or don't have common sense, in general). If the resources spent to create a unit were all that mattered, then massing Carriers would win every game.

I, for one, am actually interested in seeing Protoss with Siege Tanks, Vipers, etc.
