We are currently talking about this issue in the mod forum. We take this issue very seriously, and want to find the best way to serve those who want faster results, and those that don't wish to be spoiled. |

is it really THAT hard for you to check it yourself without being kind of inconsiderate to slowpokes or people who don't like staying up all night or waking up early?
it must be considering how easy it is to start crying "THIS IS HURTING E-SPORTS"
holy fuck I'm tired of that phrase. It's just hilarious how people are offended by a thread title. Many people are missing the points I am trying to make in the OP. I have absolutely no problems in finding tournaments results or following the scene with the current TL system. The recommandations I am making is to facilitate the integration of newcomers/casual viewers and to give them to feeling of excitement and hype when they arrive on TL after a friend tell them about the scene. I have no idea what is goal of TL and how they view their website, so whatever, I'm just sharing how I see the website evolving. And please don't turn this into a old-timers TLers being run over by the spoilerlovers newcomers. But that's what it all about. You cannot "facilitate integration of newcomers" without alienating old-timers with this proposal. There are many ways to get newcomers into SC2, I'd start with pointing them to some famous Youtube casters. If they then want to take the step from watching individual disconnected games to watching an ongoing league/LAN, I'm sure they too would prefer not to know the results in advance. From this thread, it's become apparent that a great deal of you don't mind if you know the results in advance, you just want to watch a good game. I respect that. On the other hand, it seems a lot of people don't respect the fact that for some of us, the whole point of watching SC2 is void if you know who will win.
Simplified (in a rude way) it's just "me me me, I want this, I don't care if it's ruined for the rest of you".

holy fuck I'm tired of that phrase. Do you really have to log on team liquid the evening following a GSL finals knowing there will be spoilers, before actually watching them?
Why not? He might want to read the LR thread while he watches. What if the tourney is not GSL? What if he wants to use the TL thread for the link to the stream/VOD page? And most of all, what's wrong with TL as it is now?

the one who invented spoilers must had PhD. (Pernament head DAMAGE) the biggest stupid thing ever

wow, 83% in favour!
TL does manage to make me proud sometimes. I wonder if the powers that be are willing to listen to the fanbase...
Looks like the OP wasn't far off with his "5%" comment haha.

i bet you spent like 5 hours trying to come up with a funny line ;/
back to the drawing board for you then i guess
people are getting far too hostile in a thread that comes down to a personal prefference. so much talk of stupidity and alienation of groups. i dont agree that to welcome in new people you have to alienate older veterans. i also dont agree with the op on this.
why are people getting so emotional about this subject?

But there's a point when it doesn't really make sense to appease to the 15% and a site is better off to start appeasing the 85%. We might soon be at such a point.
The only thing we can all be sure about is that Nazgul and the TL admins will handle this with care, like when they made the changes to the right sidebar, moving the BW content and giving SC2 the focus the numbers and userbase demanded.

I am definitely not one of those spoiler freak guys and if I was, I wouldn`t even go to the site. I would love to have a page that has the most update to date results for tournaments. I often find myself going into each thread looking for results. If I am unlucky I have to waste time reading through pages trying to figure out who won based on what people are saying. It isn`t like watching a movie, I don`t care about spoilers and if the particular match-up mattered a lot I would watch it live anyways or avoid the site.

I agree, Its annoying never knowing who won untill you search for the thread then look in all the spoiler tabs.

Granted, it's kind of small and not plastered in your face, so maybe a button at the top would work better. Off to the right just under the Liquipedia search bar are two links, Recent SC2 Results and Premier SC2 Tournaments. Congrats, you now have a centralized place for all results.
I had no idea those pages existed before reading his post, is that what you're looking for?

In which case threads just devolve into complaining about unintentional spoilers. Like the "Our Protoss Heroes" thread that was created not too long ago, the first several pages were primarily people bitching that the thread title gave GSL results away. It wasn't even much of a title, context and a bit of recent history is all it takes to do that most of the time.
A better alternative is to create a spoiler-free subforum. That way, people can auto-navigate to a place they know doesn't spoil the results of the last few days. Trying to prevent spoilers on a website that primarily concerns itself with SC2 news is a bit bizarre.

Spoilers matter to me. Because of my crazy homework schedule I usually don't watch GSL matches until a couple of days after they were played. Today, I went to gomtv to watch MVP vs. Nestea and the result was spoiled by the front page announcement of the upcoming semi-finals match. Instantly, my excitement was gone. I'll probably still watch the games, but they won't be anywhere near as fun or intense now that I know who won.

The OP's point is not that it is hard to find the results (recent SC2 results on Liquipedia does a fine job), nor that it is hard to stay unspoiled (TL is a spoiler-free zone), it's that he wants the default state (headline news and recent results being "hidden") switched.
Spoiler-free threads should be the ones hidden where users can auto-navigate to, while the big headline making news and results section needs to be the one featured on the main splash page.

Uh, what? Since when is news a part of the celebration? I fail to see what Teamliquid (the site) has to do with your enjoyment of SC2. Shouldn't, you know, watching the games be what gives you excitement?

You can't be a completely legitimate news site and have your own team, because then the events your team participate in and win can affect the quality of the article. That's exactly why Nazgul and staff made TeamLiquidPro.
Also, the very first entry under the teamliquid banner quite clearly says - Starcraft progaming news. Then community afterwards, then team (which could be removed right now because of teamliquidpro).
Team Liquid quite clearly is a news site, and the OP isn't the first one to feel weird about having a news site not being able to talk about actual current news (results) on the main page.
All this discussion aside though - the numbers in the OP kinda speak for themselves. 83% of the community that has voted are for news on the frontpage and 10% against.

It would be very awsome to see stephanos smiling face one the front page of TL, but we gotta remember that TL is foremost the Team Liquid's website, not a news website. If someone from TL won, then this wouldn't be a problem, of course.

The teamliquid PRO team website is a different one: http://www.teamliquidpro.com/

Personally I couldn't care a fuck less about spoilers. In fact if I didn't watch a tournament live I'd ALWAYS check the results first - THEN VOD's if I'm still interested. Tho I do understand those who want to keep the "thrill" alive as well. Seems like I'm not the only one with my point of view however.

TL has been a community for nearly 10 years. It's 95% run by the community given that only 4 out of the 200+ staff are paid while the rest are pure volunteers from our own. Most news comes from random community members itself, so it's kind of silly to compare it to other news sites and even hold it up to that standard.

Really never thought about it in the ways that OP described, but i 100% agree. This is the western SC2 site, if you don't want to be spoiled then go watch the VoD THEN come to the site.

That doesn't make it right. For those 10% their experience would be completely ruined. For the rest of the 83% they have the minor inconvenience of clicking on an extra link or two.
