We are currently talking about this issue in the mod forum. We take this issue very seriously, and want to find the best way to serve those who want faster results, and those that don't wish to be spoiled.

For the rest of the 83% they have the minor inconvenience of clicking on an extra link or two. 1) "Completely ruined" is exactly the kind of exaggerating that some people are annoyed by when the spoiler people complain. 2) The solution (as many others have said already) would be a spoiler-free sub-forum on the site. Visit regular TL for news, and that special bookmark when you are behind on some tournaments and are afraid of spoilers. No functionality is lost, but the site's standing as a news portal increases tremendously.

it definitely lowers my interest/hype in them when i know the results but it certainly doesn't bother me to see/hear the results. thank you for your post because for the most part, i agree!

If it's so important for you to not get spoiled, watch the damn games instead of visiting a community website that's about discussing the game Because you have to able to visit community sites to know what's going on and to see which games you want to watch I guess. Also, even if only 5% don't want to be spoilered, a good community takes care of the 5% minority too and finds a way to make both sides happy.

If you don't want to know something, do the simple things required to avoid knowledge of said thing. It is really easy to handle. If you get spoiled there is no one to blame but yourself.

Do you know the urls to every tournaments or streamers website? Do you have them all bookmarked? This site is not only about getting results. It's also a nexus for all things Starcraft-related, links to streams etc. Take a look at the "On Air" section to the right, how many of those events or streamers would you have access to if you weren't allowed to visit the TL front page? Why should the scene suffer? Do you suffer by having to click 1 extra link? That's a strong word. That is not in any way comparable to the buzzkill that is having the results spoiled before watching a game.

Also, should we really abolish slavery just to please the 5% equal-rights freaks people? Think about it. That argument in itself is dangerous. (aka, is having spoilers REALLY that big a deal? Sure it might be hurting E-sports a tiny bit, like a fleck of dust landed on my shoulder. but seriously it's not a big deal, just click for results, brush off my shoulder, and carry on.)

If you want to change something, just decrease the wait time before you post on the front page to like 24hours. It feels like it is much longer atm. I also agree that a good community takes care of the 5%. Since not having spoilers on the front page in no way hurts those who want them, yet it clearly DOES hurt those who don't want them, since they need to come to TL anyways to find access to most VoDs, then why change things? If you want results just go click on the LR thread or the interview thread. Why hurt the "5%" when there is no harm?

Also, research has shown that spoilers BUILD hype more than anything, such as in the research cited by This Article. Honestly if you want the experience of watching an event live....then effing watch it live or skip straight to the VOD when you can watch it. If you are tooling around TL first then you should expect to have it spoiled.

I think the point was that not having near-live event results on the front page actually does hurt esports as a legitimate sport. TV, newspapers, and radio discuss the outcomes of real sports the moment after they happen. This really highlights the importance of the outcomes and the amount of people that are interested in discussing/hearing about the results immediately. It should be like that for esports too. Also, real sports do have the same issue where some viewers will not view them live because of TiVo-like services. I know plenty of people who record their team's games and watch them later. Somehow we don't have baseball fans complaining to their local radio stations about "spoilers". So I think it's a natural evolution for esports to be like this.

I'd love if someone, even if not teamliquid, would set up a good frontpage e-sports news style operation that just hit results and important happenings pretty much as they happen. Major tournaments would have updates with pictures of the winners, maybe a short article, and definitely the podium spots and a nice link to liquipedia or other full-results listings. I'm surprise that result hunting is still left up to the end user and such a frontpage service hasn't been set up yet.
