Hm...when burrowed GtG attack with ~10 range and small/no splash. Unburrowed GtA attack with ~9 range and thor-like splash. Lair tech, requires hydralisk den, upgrade at roach warren for 200/200 research time 60. Cost to morph from roach: 75/125. I know I'm crazy. | ||

Their attack is spines.. so to have it morph into something with acid based attack like a baneling IMO wouldn’t make sense.. however plausible since Blizzard can explain away whatever they want.. So what’s the main issue with Hyrdas in SC2? They lack HP and their slow as sh*t for their cost. Their problem isn’t that they’re weak AA.. their DPS is actually really good.. Hydra’s do quite well against air so a morphed hydra would have to out-do its current attack. In order for it to be worth it..it would have to do splash/AOE damage like a thor.. which also may mean the ability to attack ground units would have to go away to balance it out. Similarly to how hyrdas in SCBW lost the ability to attack Air units when morphed to lurkers. Combine that with the main issue: Zerg doesn’t have a unit that can attack while cloaked/burrowed and still have movement. eg. lurker. Infested terrans don’t count because you can see them.. it’s the infestors you can’t see and those have no attack. And baneling bombs can’t move.. so they’re pretty useless if your opponents army doesn’t go over them We may have a unit that burrows and attacks only air with splash/AOE damage. Which in the current meta game is pretty friggen useless UNLESS it does bonus against armored. But still.. how fast will this unit move.. I mean the attack would have to be absolutely devastating to counteract the mobility of air units. Hold position FTW! Personally.. if anyone actually reads this post of mine.. I’m thinking it’s one or the other.. not both.. to combine burrowed movement with AA just doesn’t make sense.. so either it burrows and attacks from underground like a lurker… or it walks about doing AOE AA attacking like the bugs in starship troopers | ||

It would be awesome. I for some reason feel this is the correct answer. Everyone liked the vulture from BroodWar and many were sad when it didnt make it into SC2. Perhaps Blizzard thought it was too powerful, but are now giving us a slower form of the vulture, for Zerg. | ||
