In my oppinion its going to attempt to fill the role that zerg lacks the most, a ground holding unit. I think it won't be that fast and will be relatively similar to a reaver in being slow and having an AoE attack.
By the looks of it you can't really imagine that thing moving too fast and it looks like an evolution of the baneling that shoots acid out of its back like a fire truck shooting water. Perhaps with a spray that is similar to a voidrays beam in doing damage over time rather than bust damage like most units?
Also for coolness it generates creep in a 6-7 range radius wherever it walks since its slow
Anything can be accomplished through sheer discipline.

I believe that its can not be a siege unit, that is fundamentally not what Zerg is. Zerg is about reaction and speed and swarm, tanks and siege are slow and methodical. There is absolutely no way they would stray that far away from race design. Balancing the other races against Terran doesn't mean we want Terran units...lol.

A offensive armored creep spreading unit. Burrows in and spreads creep rapidly. Advantage of faster army movement or a hasty retreat.

Excuse the poor MS Paint skills.

Do you guys think that they could remove the hydra in favor of this unit and then put a new unit in tier 2? I'd love to see the hydra gone ^_^.

Would be pretty cool if it can shoot banelings or something. Like the meat wagon from WC3?

That's actually a really cool idea. I'd imagine it would have other uses, but the idea of a unit that can quickly spread creep like an overlord, but is ground based is really cool.

I want a T3 unit that can attack air and ground or something that can abuse cliffs.

Edit: a baneling mine layer would be awesome too^^

I think, as someone mentioned earlier here, there are rocks on the back.
So my guess is this unit morphs from the hydralisk and is used to place destructible rocks on any expansion, thus making it harder to for the opponent to expand.

We all do know how Blizzard loves destructible rocks. And a unit dedicated to that just seems right!

On a more serious note, i think this is an evolution of the Lurker.

My take on it is this, the legs o front wich some seem to belive is for curling up is actually "grounding". This i conclude from two tings, as one of the picures pointed out it seems the back end of the creature is a cannon of sorts. The other thing is the head, it is at least in profile the same as a hydralisk (maybe an uppgrade? Not to sure about that thou). This would bring in at least some creedebility to the swarm (evolutuion reusing good designs) seing as the hydralisk is a ranged unit with high precision and so on. This leads me back to my point

aiming head + hugeasscannon + "recoilingsafe" legs = siege unit

The interesting questions that arise based upon that is this.

1. do you need a new building or research a uppgrade to get the unit?
2. if this is a siege unit does it shoot in unsieged mode?
3. do you need burrow to siege it?
4. what unit would it be morphed from, (here i have to point out that it lore and gameplaywise would be a bit wrong to morph a beefy siege unit from the "glass cannon" hydralisk.

gogo debate!

Umm, what did the big red button do again?

It would be a wasted unit. You can just bring an overlord and spread creep, what's the point of having whole extra unit just to spread creep? Unless of course it spreads like 3 screens in like 5 seconds lol..
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity

The current theory on the new terran unit is very "transformerish" - so perhaps it could be a theme.
