I actually got these lags (feels like fps-drops) after the last patch, the one before 1.4.
The windows actioncenter told me my graphic driver had stopped working 350 times... so I reinstalled the newest driver from Nvidia (I only have a 8800 gts card), but still receiving "lags".
I play on very low graphics now, wich I didn't have to do before, and my computer even freezes sometimes, forcing a reboot 
I could run on high/medium graphics before, no problem, but not anymore. I've ordered a new graphic card today, but starting to regret now that I see you guys are experiencing the same problem. It's sc2 fault, not my graphic card.

Isnt this present in all patches at the start? i remember this discussion in the last patch and it all cleared up eventually, so dont panic everyone!

It's patch day guys calm down. Patch days are always a little buggy/laggy. Just wait a day or two and everything will be perfect again.

i lagged in a couple games, and in one game my opponent commented on the lag after he lost

Just to confirm that this is indeed a 1.4 issue: I am lagging and my screen is stuttering since 1.4. This occurred never before this patch. I play on all settings low.

I have same problems like you guys + sound problems its weird , i never had any problems with lag or something similare in sc2 before patch 1.4 . blizard fix it plz as soon as possible i need to practice

YES! I have severe cpu lag (feels like playing on 10 fps) since the new patch. Before the patch I've never expeienced any lag in 1v1. I run the game on the lowest graphics with AMD 64 X2 3.02ghz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260.
Also Im getting weird sound issues. Its very... cracky.
Please let Blizzard fix it asap since I cant play with this lag at all.

I lagged in 1st custom game but not on the 2nd one + ladder game.

Maybe servers are a bit stressed, its patch day. Hope tomorrow everything will be fine.
If not then there may be some sort of bug or something :/

I've lagged for the first time ever in a maxed 1v1 game.... I've played some obs games too and the players are complaining about excessive lag. Something is certainly different.

i got lag when that alert sound fade stuff kicks in:/ mb my soundcard is made of wood.

yes! i am lagging a lot. i could never play entirely fluidly but since the patch it is a lot worse. There will be moments in the game where the screen completely freezes for 2-3 seconds.

Many people who posted here(including me) have the razer spectre and are experiencing the same problems. http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/3227002772 The choppiness made the game unplayable, but when I used my deathadder everything was fine again.

I've had some lag issues too..nothing severe though.
What is more annoying are the audio issues. whenever a game effect sound happens the main music audio squelches a bit. The constant volume change makes my ears bleed.
Also over the course of the last year I've noticed that game performance has decreased.
Now at the start of every game I get a 1-2 second lag spike.
Makes initial probe splitting a PAIN.

i got the spectre mouse to play sc, now i cant use it to play sc ?!?! T__T

Yea i use to never lag in 2v2 unless we were all maxed, but now every game at least once i have this terrible lag spike then it settles dunno.
