I'm having a lot of trouble with screen lag since I updated to the new patch. I'm not talking about server lag (ie: delay between commanding an action, and seeing the action take place on screen), but more like performance lag, low frames per second (abnormally low-- basically unplayable), and choppy graphics. This has NEVER happened to me before.
I play on all the lowest settings, and I admittedly don't use a benchmark-setting laptop (Athlon X2 2.1Ghz dual core, Radeon 4250, 4GB DDR RAM), but I've never ever had even small amounts of FPS issues except on monobattle maps when everyone is maxed and running around. Now my computer lags to a point of being unplayable even early game in 1v1 when I've only got a few units on screen at a time.
Has anyone else had any similar issues, or is my computer just randomly broken or something?
You know, the same thing happened to me today. Before, I would only lag in 4v4, but now I'm lagging in 2v2 as well. I thought it was just my computer overheating, but hmm.... let's see if it's not just us.
did you on your vertical sync or something?
No I haven't messed with my graphics settings at all. I've reset my laptop, closed ALL unnecessary background apps, tried playing single-player to make sure it's not a server thing... Nothing seems to be working for me.
I actually got it a fucking lot in several ladder matches. Makes my game hitch and really choppy sometimes. It just freezes in place.
I don't know if this is related but, every time i start a game on ladder the screen is frozen for the first 4-5 seconds. It was never like this before 1.4

i thought i was the only one...im getting lag and overall slowness.
the graphic screens have been really really laggy for a long time.. at least for me this new patch somehow made it even worst
I posted this same thread on the Bnet forums (...I know) and it seems there are a myriad of graphical and audio issues with this new patch.
Me, my brother and a friend are all experiencing lag. The screen freezes then speeds up. During high user activity this seems to happen from time to time, even before the patch. If i had to guess its because all the noobs are coming out of the woodwork to play the new patch.
Utter failure of battle net 2.0 in my opinion.
edit; Why do people assume vertical sync has anything to do with poor performance. I mean where does this come from. Never in all my life, playing multiple games across multiple computers has vertical sync ever been the direct cause of performance issues. Besides even some of the best monitors still show screen tearing with vertical sync off, why anyone would want to play without it boggles my mind.
same with me. glad im not the only one. hopefully blizz will fix soon
I had these same issues with my old HDD - it was most severe in the first games of the day I'd play. The screen would freeze for a couple seconds, and then everything would happen quickly as if the display is 'catching up' to the correct game state. I tracked this down to my PC struggling to load the SC2 data files.
I had a pretty good workaround by going x8 through a couple replays after I load SC2 so I can preload the objects. This has served me well up until now.
SC2 puts a whole mess of graphic and sound data in large single files... I suspect if this patch rebuilt that file, it may have done so badly. If you know how File Systems work, then you know the absolute worst thing you can do is create a small file, and then increase the size of it... it's why if you ever download anything from a P2P client like Limewire that doesn't create the files at their 'finished' size initially, then your file will be EXTREMELY fragmented and will run like garbage.
If the SC2 data files are fragmented, loading data from it will be much slower than normal and create the same 'hiccups' that it would on a bad hard drive. I analyzed my disk after the install and my SC2 files were fragmented.
I reccomend defragging your hard drive to resolve the slowness patch 1.4 causes.
Yup, started sc2 today.. first match I usually experience lag for some reason so I disregarded it.. second and third game I kept freezing, kept freezing, and kept freezing. I have a intel quad core 2.4ghz, 460gtx and 4gb ram running w7... I play on low too, ultra is too distracting.

If your screen slows down and then speeds up, that's 100% your PC, it has nothing to do with anything happening over the network.
My gaming's been pretty smooth, not sure what's going on with you guys. Though I did notice that my "reduce mouse lag" option was unchecked, even though I had always made sure it was checked before. I recommend checking your settings to make sure nothing's changed by itself. Other than that, no problems here.
both my and my smurf accounts on three different computers are all lagging using all the same graphic options. and all my computers can max out these games. i even get lag on the lowest settings on all my computers and accounts. same for my friends and cousins.
I'm getting alot of delay in my games. This happened before in a patch like 8 months ago as well. I have no clue what's going on
yeah - The lag is bad. I'm glad someone started this thread because I was about to post the same thing. I quit a coupld games in a row because it was so aggravating.
Hmmm, Let me see core I7, GTX 560, 6 gig ram. Yea I think my computer can handle sc2 on low settings. Also explain to me why when in team games, If someone in the game is laggy as shit, everyone lags and chops all day. And its the exact same lag I described above, the game freezes and speeds back up, Its not the normal lag you would think of where frames are not affected. It has to be the way battle.net deals with lag.
This thread seems to be drawing laggers of all types, even from before 1.4. You guys should make sure that your lag is 1.4 specific before posting.
I have played a bunch, 2's, 3's and Sotis, and there has been no new lag with me or my partners - so it is not universal new lag. If it is a problem with bnet or the new patch, good luck to those of you affected.
Yeap, I was getting some huge spikes earlier in team games and I thought I was just running a high load. I had a couple skips today in 1v1s though, which made me think otherwise, and then I saw this ... Definitely not normal, with what I'm running shouldn't be lagging at all period. xD

I already did explain what is going on with the 'speed up / slow down' lag. Read above.

Mine is def due to 1.4. No lag on on any other patch. Play almost every day and it only started after this patch
Fix: defrag the hard drive your SC2 is installed on.
I explain why this works on page 1

Mhmm so your telling me, that the lag I experience ( And anyone who has ever played with a severe lagger) in 4v4 vs ppl on 56k modems, which cause all 3 of my partners to chop and lag is from audio files................lol k.
All my example is for. Is to show that latency has a direct affect on the performance of FPS in sc2. This is nothing new.
I've had sound issues with it while listening to my own music. It's this laggy, fast repetitive noise that messes up my flow in game. Basically, it's turning ska into base-drops every 10 or so seconds. I'll try the defrag thing and edit this post if it fixed it.
edit: Yup, it worked. Thanks, fdsdfg.
edit2: Nevermind, after playing a second, and quite unbearable, game it turns out that nothing has been changed.
yup, the same happened to me...now i'm playing in low settings, before I could play on high...

It's from trying to cache models and textures of 8 different players. It has nothing to do with their connection.
If your game lags, your mouse DOESN'T lag, and it doesn't speed up to catch up.. that's network lag, and it is because of them.
All my example is for. Is to show that latency has a direct affect on the performance of FPS in sc2. This is nothing new.
It does not.

If I'm in a team game everything runs smooth if no one is lagging, same in 1v1. My FPS doesn't hit 0 and everything runs good, However when and if someone is severely lagging (Name poping on screen non stop), this happens without fail. So my logic is running into a brick wall with you because, this issue does not exist until someone displays severe lag. Since this is directly correlating (In my experience) to someone lagging, why would caching come into play @ all. Without laggers the problem doesn't arise. With laggers it does. Where does caching fit in there. So if I'm to make sense of this, when someone lags I'm re caching all the textures that already exist? When the lag screen pops up SC2 must re cache all textures? That doesn't make sense. And again I'm just using team games as an example.
Let me reiterate, One day I was in a 4v4 and we were playing against 4 People from Brazil. One of them was lagging non stop, and the game was very very choppy. I asked all 3 of my teammates on skype if they were experiencing the same thing as I, and they confirmed, yes they were. The dudes name was poping on screen every 20 seconds or so, and in between that time the game was super choppy FPS wise. Now I have played a fair share of team games in my time, and without these "laggers" this chop does not exist.
So how does this relate to 1.4, I'm assuming that the high congruency of players is some how causing battle.net to chop FPS in game. So my point is again that lag somehow can affect your frame rates in sc2. This is illogical yes, but in my experience it happens, unless your calling me a liar and something I experienced is somehow a fallacy then by all means sir I submit.
So people defrag your SC2 and come back, do tell, let everyone know if your problem with 1.4 is solved. If so than ty you fsdfjksf or whatever your name is =p
I got the graphics lag today as well. Would just stop on one screen frame for 4-5 seconds at a time. After about 5 of these, the 6th one caused the game to freeze.
Games generally have bugs after big patches. If you have ever played wow, you know that there are many performance bugs after patches. Just give blizzard a few days to fix some stability issues and everything will be fine.
What a pleasure going into a 200/200 battle I should easily win and being unable to cast any storms or even position my units properly, so I lose games I shouldn't.
There is some serious sound issues in this patch too.
My lag is vastly worse than last patch. At the beginning of the game it slows down and jumps forward suddenly and my probe split is always 5 seconds late. At the end of each game when I leave the screen hangs for like 10-15 seconds before it actually goes to the score screen. It's incredibly irritating. I'm on a Mac so I guess that confirms the problem is cross platform.
Same here, but it started before 1.4, i would get very hard lag spikes then it would go back to top performence?...
hmm i cant even patch the damn game, giving me some weird ass errors, what the hell is going on with 1.4.
Yup, this lag is completely ridiculous. Can't play a single macro game.

I.E. Razer Banshee headset, Marauder keyboard, Specter mouse that change lighting when your APM changes. I have a Specter and I have the same problem as you.
yeah the menu screen seems to have a lot of lag for me now. let me see how it is in game... edit: ok after my first game, it seems to be better now. weird o.O

My Specter is causing mine. I have no other optical mouse.

Ive been having problem with my mouse d/cing lately but now. Everything including my computer d/cs from the game and i have to turn off my computer =(
not to mention i have to alt tab cause i cant click on the minimap multiple times during a game
Why do I have this feeling its caused as a result of the changes in APM measurement? =/
Ugh, both my keyboard/mouse are the Razer SC2 products.. now I'm kind of scared to ladder lol.
Yup I use the Specter mouse. So there we go.
Nice of Blizzard to release a patch that both severely nerfs my favourite unit, AND makes the game unplayable due to lag and stability issues.
+1, Blizzard. -_-
Hope this gets fixed soon.
The servers might have been laggy or something. When i was taking a little break from laddering, i noticed that the 1v1, 4v4 and ffa went away for about a minute, then they popped back up as if nothing happened. it was weird o.o
Can anyone try if turning down the APM/Alerts on your Razer mouse/keyboard/headset configurator helps solve this issue?
I'm guessing its probably new patch lag. I had it before with some of the other patches, it'll most likely go away in a day or two.
BTW : I'm not experiencing anything unusual.
guys honestly this is 4real

Anyone else having drop issues in custom games on a Mac? I have.
I defragged like someone said earlier. No help. Time to go play gears of war 3.
same, me and friend were having huge lag spikes, and neither of us showed up on the others' side in a lag screen o.o
I'm also getting the real choppy frame rates although i have never had an issue prior to this patch and a quite high end computer.
Also having audio issues, with inconsistent sound volume announcements.
There is certainly issues with this patch somewhere and i don't use any of those peripherals listed above.

Sound volume is suppose to be different so you can hear stuff that happens off screen with a more quiet sound to it.
EDIT: New thing under sound for alert fade. Turn it to 100% if you want it to not fade the sounds in and out.
I'm having graphics choppiness and sound issues as well. The volume seems inconsistent...
For the people getting this issue.. AMD-ATI or Nvidia?

There is a new feature which attenuates "normal" sounds in favor of alerts, Set this fader to 100% to bypass this new feature.

Ah cool, thanks, that helps.

No lag issue whats so ever, however when I try to close sc2 it does seem to hang and then i just end process it does anybody else get that?
I've been having lag issues too. Never had any problems before 1.4...
I get the similar problems discussed in this thread--lag in game and on the load screen.
To clear up things I have read thus far V sync can cause problems - dead space anyone? Though its unlikely to be the cause of any problems unless its constant.
Secondly lag does affect performance. As in bad connection will look and feel like your pc having problems displaying stuff. This is because of the way bnet is constructed so you might have a boss computer but if your connection isn't perfect you will experience hitching
Lastly blizzard are known for being less than adept at technicalities. They have bad coders (comparing to other large teams) so don't rely on blizzard giving an F enough to fix things. I have had problems that required me just to wait for the next patch
Even had a tools update break the game for me on my laptop. Speaking of make sure you update your drivers to latest numbered version you can find. There is a good chance this will involve installing unsupported modded drivers so do some googling and grab one but beware of overheating so I hear.
i've had this same issue. i never lag and at the start of 3 of my games it threw me into the game at the 5 second marker
I noticed this today while playing. I have never had this problem so I turned down some setting but it didn't fix anything. I hope they fix it soon, it's screwing up my micro.
I swear that nothing like this has happened to me before 1.4. This JUST STARTED today for me so now iam just glad i know its the patch and not my computer.
Some settings in sounds have been modified by this patch. For example, it started fading out playing warnings when a new warning pops up for me. I had to set a slider to 100% to get the old behaviour back, and i don't remember that slider from the last patch. I think the default used to be a hard cut off of playing sounds when a new one is issued.
Maybe that has something to do with it?

Also their skype gets RLY loud in the beginning of the game for some reason...
It also seems to lag in even small battles now for no reason, it never did that before. It's so annoying.

Wow the lag from the PTR carried over... I can't play with the sounds all blurred and the fps choppy:K
Why don't they use the effin countdown to load shit. Lag problems started with the merge (patch 1.3 I think). Haven't had the pleasure of seeing their latest screwup since I'm on EU. It's kinda funny they haven't worked out the realtek soundcard issue yet, loooool. Works in all other programs...

everytime blizzard implement new UI in BNet 2.0, there is always memory leaked and lag. Currently the memory of idle Bnet is still increase despite the patch since beta. i keep track of it because i thought it was my firefox consuming ram.

I played PTR and Blizzard did have this lag, it starts when you run sc II for around 20-30 minutes where the sound becomes choppy and the gameplay lags... I stopped playing PTR because of this and I thought they would surely fix it for the actual patch... Apparently NOT...
I just started lagging in games tonight after I patched this afternoon. I thought it was my connection but apparently not =(.
I bought a new laptop today just to run sc2 smoothly in medium settings. Everything is smooth during the first 3-5 minutes then FPS drops drastically to a point you cannot micro at all. Also audio becomes a pain to listen to, at first I thought it was the laptop but thank god its not. It shouldn't be the laptop anyway. 6GB ram, i5 2410M, GT540M. It should definitely run SC2 in medium settings smoothly with no problem. I hope they fix it asap.
EDIT: Tried SC2 on a mac and it was perfectly fine, even though I had a spectre mouse.
I had lag today as well. At one of the worst times - when defending a 1-1-1. I was so mad when I couldn't micro anything and ended up losing.

Yeah, this is ridiculous, the screen lag and the audio lag is just soo bad its unplayable. I hope blizz fixes this bc its horrible. it does it on all video settings and on 1's 2's 3, and 4's.... I noticed my computer basically dies, while SC2 is on now; it wasn't like that before the patch. I mean - inside SC2 it's okay so far, but anything else running becomes pretty much dead or lagging.
I actually got these lags (feels like fps-drops) after the last patch, the one before 1.4.
The windows actioncenter told me my graphic driver had stopped working 350 times... so I reinstalled the newest driver from Nvidia (I only have a 8800 gts card), but still receiving "lags".
I play on very low graphics now, wich I didn't have to do before, and my computer even freezes sometimes, forcing a reboot
I could run on high/medium graphics before, no problem, but not anymore. I've ordered a new graphic card today, but starting to regret now that I see you guys are experiencing the same problem. It's sc2 fault, not my graphic card.
Oh well
Isnt this present in all patches at the start? i remember this discussion in the last patch and it all cleared up eventually, so dont panic everyone!
It's patch day guys calm down. Patch days are always a little buggy/laggy. Just wait a day or two and everything will be perfect again.
i lagged in a couple games, and in one game my opponent commented on the lag after he lost
Just to confirm that this is indeed a 1.4 issue: I am lagging and my screen is stuttering since 1.4. This occurred never before this patch. I play on all settings low.
I have same problems like you guys + sound problems its weird , i never had any problems with lag or something similare in sc2 before patch 1.4 . blizard fix it plz as soon as possible i need to practice
YES! I have severe cpu lag (feels like playing on 10 fps) since the new patch. Before the patch I've never expeienced any lag in 1v1. I run the game on the lowest graphics with AMD 64 X2 3.02ghz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260.
Also Im getting weird sound issues. Its very... cracky.
Please let Blizzard fix it asap since I cant play with this lag at all.
I lagged in 1st custom game but not on the 2nd one + ladder game.
Maybe servers are a bit stressed, its patch day. Hope tomorrow everything will be fine. If not then there may be some sort of bug or something :/
yeah, i've been having lag issues.
I've lagged for the first time ever in a maxed 1v1 game.... I've played some obs games too and the players are complaining about excessive lag. Something is certainly different.
i got lag when that alert sound fade stuff kicks in:/ mb my soundcard is made of wood.
yes! i am lagging a lot. i could never play entirely fluidly but since the patch it is a lot worse. There will be moments in the game where the screen completely freezes for 2-3 seconds.
Many people who posted here(including me) have the razer spectre and are experiencing the same problems. http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/3227002772 The choppiness made the game unplayable, but when I used my deathadder everything was fine again.
I've had some lag issues too..nothing severe though.
What is more annoying are the audio issues. whenever a game effect sound happens the main music audio squelches a bit. The constant volume change makes my ears bleed.
Also over the course of the last year I've noticed that game performance has decreased. Now at the start of every game I get a 1-2 second lag spike. Makes initial probe splitting a PAIN.
i got the spectre mouse to play sc, now i cant use it to play sc ?!?! T__T
Yea i use to never lag in 2v2 unless we were all maxed, but now every game at least once i have this terrible lag spike then it settles dunno.
same problem with an i5 core and gtx 560 here Also the sound is choppy as hell
Having minor lagging problems and also the sound fades in and out now.

If your screen slows down and then speeds up, that's 100% your PC, it has nothing to do with anything happening over the network. If this is true then repairing sc2 might help. Sometimes I get into game when exact thing happens (freeze and follow with speedup). Restarting a map fixes it. If I dont fix it it continues to end of the game.

this lag is horrible, already lost several games cuz of it i can't even micro in fights like 4 marines vs 6 lings, game just freezes for a couple of seconds, i just don't want to think what would happen when i would be 200/200.
also using razer spectre : /
Me too. Almost cost me a game today. Screen froze for 50 secs or so. Did it for 10 secs or so in a previous game too.
my fps was unusually bad last night, had those screen freezes, random dips in fps, weird skipping. fps was rock solid pre-patch.
Lagged like I never did before, got those screen freezes at the start of the game before workers are split for the first time
Got some weird freezes after patch too, but nothing drastic. Usually 2-5 seconds ...
I also have lag at the log in screen and lag while trying to click single or multiplayer. Lag at the beginning of a game, but fixes it self in a couple seconds.
Please spam blizzard to fix this asap guys. This is kinda ridiculous T_T
Yah I get intermittent lag and it's not server related. I'm also running everything on low. :/

Disable ur apm lightning and it should be fixed. I just fixed mine by disabling that
lol mine lags so hard. i requested a pause as i didnt know why it was lagging..and then got BMed by someone who said he wont allow a pause because he doesnt care if i disconnects, he just wants to win... lol anyways patch 1.4 is kinda disappointing..
yea, same.. game freezes, then speeds up for a sec, then runs okay for a while.. rinse, repeat fuck this. edit after reading the thread: no, i don't use any of the stuff mentioned also i'd prefer not having to defrag my whole disk because of this :/
Ya im having the same problem after the 1.4 patch as well... i thought that it was cause i had SOTG up and playing as well, but it shouldn't have anything to do with that. I was pretty puzzled as to why i was lagging, but it seems that im not the only one that is having lag issues now.
Yep. Same problem here...
Yah, i've been experiencing a lot of 2 fps periods with this new patch. Basically makes the game unplayable for like 5 seconds, sometimes various times per game.
Never happened before.

thanks, seem to be fixed but played only game, hope it won't come back

I have lag problems myself since the patch. It lags in battles when I need it the most
I get the 5sec lag in the beginning of the game (perfect to be set up a few second vs early rax or so), then everything runs smoothly until big engagement, where I lost 2 games because I couldn't micro.
I hope it gets fixed soon !

its not working i tried it , and still same s..t , its little better in beging , but when you have moore units(food capacity) its starting to lag again
I keep getting this weird 2-4 second freeze then the game speeds up to catch up. Never had this problem before
I'm having lots of lag as well, or rather lots of delay. Never had any problems before patch 1.4
Really hoping for a quick bugfix, cause it's totally unplayable as it is.

You should be defragging every now and then anyways to keep a stable, smooth running system, thats why it takes so long, is that you dont do it enough. I defrag once every few weeks and it takes about 5 min for 3TB of drives to go through it....
I get lag only upon completion of the game. When it gives me the victory screen I lag for 15 seconds before it will send me back to the menus.
I'm getting the opening game lag... Losing the first 5 seconds of the game is rather crucial.
Yeah I was getting lag just playing normal 1v1s
Im getting lag every game, however if i spectate or watch a replay i dont lag. Supposedly there are some issues with APM Peripherals causing the lag, and i do use the two razer products. I hope they fix this shit, its literally impossible to play a game.
Same here guys, even in the early game 1v1's im dropping down to 15-30fps just randomly sometimes even further. I usually run on 150fps in the early game.
Game's okay for me, but the battle.net interface is impossibly laggy.
Did blizzard fix the issue with the sync with razer and bnet yet?
Everyone seems to be having a problem with lag in 1.4 but I don't have it at all.
I had lag yesterday, not using APM peripherals but I do use Razer. It feels like if I'm playing on korean server or something. I've had some drops of FPS that is not normal (pre 1.4) but the lagspikes are quite (Very) annoying. If I hit stim f ex, it will take 1-2 seconds to active which obviously is horrible in many situations.
Yeah, my graphics seemed to lag in a 2v2.. but that could be my computer getting old. HOWEVER, there IS an issue with the sound for sure with this patch.
Edit: I have a razer product as well
I have one of the crapiest computers that you can still barely play SC2 on and I am almost playing with everything on lowest (by variablles.txt, even lower than possible with in-game settings) and I noticed no extra lag at all after 1.4. So there is probably some kind of interplay between the issue and your hardware. Maybe now I get some advantage, as I am used to SC2 working like crap for me and the others aren't
Updating the Banshee Driver to 1.2 resolved the issue on my gf's PC.
Give that a shot
How I got the lag to go away!: Contact Blizzard Tech support and via bnet and follow the directions to send them your systems specs and diagnostic. I got a response from them in ten minutes with a link to a website where I can update the driver for my video card and I downloaded it and restarted my PC and the lag and sound issues were gone! Blizzard Tech support is awesome!!!
Note: I run all settings on ultra and extreme and never had lag issues before patch 1.4.0 and this fixed the issue! I also use razor spectre and maurauder with no problems since the fix!
Hope this works for everyone else!
It just spikes.....nice patch. Also the sound fade thing, wth is that?
My frames keep dropping to like 0 after this patch. Never happen before.
i don't use razer nor any APM equipment, but still have bad enough lag that i won't ladder
any idea how to fix? T_T
For about the first couple games I play it's pretty laggy/choppy, but it appears to fade after that. This is new to the 1.4 patch for me.
The first game is usually pretty bad with 5-6 game seconds already on the clock when I first see the map on my screen.
I just play a few warm up customs before I hit ladder.
i am not trolling or something but did someone gets sounds lag during 1vs1 ?
unplayable for me:/ major choppiness. not using any specific sc2 hardware.
I was playing a guy that had to pause all the time because of lag. Looks like there is a performance problem with 1.4.
I was getting extreme choppiness last night, I thought it was my video card overheating. Played again today and same thing. I don't have any of the SC2 APM gear. Sucks.
ya I don't have any "APM gear"
Just a Kinzu and a laptop. Nothing else running cept SC2, and still getting random 5-10 second freezes then everything speeds up.
Just lost a game 100% due to this, move command units wouldn't respond till they all died.
Fuck this game.
I dont really have lag in the games, but all of my games start at the 6 second mark. The screen freezes and then speeds up to about 6-8 seconds in. Kinda annoying how you start from behind
Played my first game on 1.4 today and i have the same problem, screen freezes completely at random times, never happened to me before >.< can't play like this
i have gottin alot of lag since patch. there was no lag right b4 the patch came out then it came out and i lag every game.
I'm not getting this in 1v1 aside from maybe a longer than normal pause at the start, but 4v4 is almost unplayable now after being perfectly smooth before. What it feels like is pausing to load textures/models when big groups of units first appear on the screen. I'm on low settings for the FPS, and this is pretty ridiculous to happen on low.
Ive got "lag" issues since the last patch. I use a Laptop a Samsung R480 with Intel i3 2.13 gHz M330 (i think its 1GB Vram) 6GB Ram, and i havent experienced any issue with lag prior this patch. Run the game in mid quality just to avoid the ocassional decrase on FPS, but honestly i have been fooling around with my game config and i cant find the solution, seems it runs the same way on low graphics as in high... and no, it aint internet speed issues.
I've been having issues intermittently with it lagging like crazy for the first 20 or so seconds of every game and then big hangups throughout. This never used to happen. I have 50 megabit down/5 megabit up internet and a PC that can run the game on ultra smoothly so it isn't my hardware or connection. It even happens in custom games against people who live close to me and have good internet connections as well. It can be quite frustrating when it lags so hard that my workers don't start mining until 30 seconds into the game, and my forcefields are not instant and 20 zerglings run into my mineral line.
People still having this issue? I've had it since 1.4 and it's still been bugging me so badly. Currently, the game is playable for me but it still feels very slow and unresponsive. I'm not getting the extreme performance and fps drops that most people are complaining about but I am getting a decrease in fps nonetheless. First off, I bought this laptop because it basically ran Starcraft on low settings perfectly without hiccup and now it's been laggy for the longest time. I really wanted to bump this thread because I'm sure other people have the same gripe...
I do have some quirkiness at the start of nearly every game, it's not because of the computer (core i5 and radeon 6950) and it's not because of my network since it didn't do that before 1.4. Basically the game is fine, no lags or anything during it but at the start after the loading screen it lags, making it hard to split drones correctly. It's the kinf o lag where the screen freezes for a split second and then jumps ahead very fast.
Thought I was the only one, I get quite frequent freezes and then the action seems to try to catch up in fast forward mode. I also seem to get a lot of HDD thrashing during all of this (defragged and everything, so that's not it). I never had any issues with this before 1.4 and I ended up blaming it on sc2 gears at first, but I still get it when I don't have it running...
I love how blizzard makes patches that bugs the game even more. how would you call a society behaving like that?

Have Blizz mentioned anything more on this issue, I'm experiencing it pretty bad, even in 1v1s where before I could play 4v4s up to lategame relatively smoothly
Yeah I've been noticing some FPS drops as well. Cool to see that other people are having the same problems.
I'm playing on low settings with pretty decent specs to run well. I remember being able to run on medium quite well.
No certain SC2 hardware or whatever.
I finally found out a big problem to my PC of why it's been lagging since patch 1.4, but it's not the only problem.
My computer still has shader problems or something, like when a rax finishes or the first scv is about to come out, it'll lag...
Still not fixed, even tho it was in the patch notes for 1.4.1 =/
FIX PLEASE BLIZZARD T_T

I would call that humbling. Westerners have this assumption that we should always be progressing socially and technologically through technical interventions. The history of science suggests that technical solutions routinely produce untended consequences in the form of new problems. When Blizzard solves problems, new ones might be created in the process. Sure I want a perfect game. But I don't believe in the possibility of a perfect game--nor a perfect society.
yes this has been happening for a while.. no solution yet.
Well, this is disappointing.
yeah I get this lag too but its not nearly as severe as some of you. It randomly freezes up maybe every 4 games or so but when it does its EXTREMELY annoying to the point where i think of rage quitting.
