Group B&C are pretty tough already.
Group A: PiG? YHY?
Group B: Loner! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!
Group C: Idra probably thinks this group is trash
Group D: Dude. Strelok. My favorite group by far.
Interesting groups. The line up is a little weaker tho compared to Cologne
Dimaga is the only foreigner with a chance, IdrA will get to the playoffs and lose 1st round.
Holy smokes group B!
Gogo GLaDe and Dima ! :D

update: loner and lovecd forfeit their spot YET AGAIN (yes I'm so frustrated and angry), due to G-League finals (provides spot to the grand finals later in october, a mighty 23k$ 1st place prize)been held around the same week.

This looks like free money for whichever Koreans they invite.
I have a feeling Korean Invite #2 will win.

PiG and mOOnGLaDe FIGHTING!!! <3

Australian zergs fighting! Looking forward to this.

It feels kinda pointless to invite Chinese players to anything at this rate. They just seem to pull out all the time?

direct message from the WE team, and I used to work at a major chinese esports website so sure I got confirmed information about Chinese scene.

Elfi vs Idra...EZ win for Elfi.
Glad to see Moonglade up and fighting :3

If Loner and Lovecd forfeit, they will probably replaced by XiGua and CoMM, not that bad though.

what the hell moonglade??

F*** yeah! Seeing chinese players playing is so awesome. They are our feature SC gods
we need more protosses guys
A: Puma B: JYP/Demuslim if he beats him TvP C: Don't know. D: Revival ez
Sad to have Dimaga and Demuslim in the same group, they're my two favorite player and in addition to that their group is really really hard: JYP is a sick korean protoss, and Puma a sick korean terran .
Do these invites seem kind of.. random to anyone? No offense to any of the players, but just seems like there could've been better invites.
My dark horse is Demuslim, realistically Puma.
I've been so impressed by how good Demuslim got lately...his TvZ seems godly. Hugest upset i am expecting is Idra not taking 1/2ed in his group...don't like his play lately, meaning Jinro could take him, and his PvZ seems just broken, meaning some1 like Elfi could take it.

IdrA and Strelok to fly to IPL right after...insane-sports October begins.

such a shame XlorD had to cancel his participation !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
iaguz can get out of that group.
idra vs jinro cant wait to see that
i can see XiGua being a real dark horse in his group tbh, also nice to see JYP at IEM ^^
On September 23 2011 21:33 GTR wrote: any reason as to why iaguz is replacing moonglade?
He forfeited I believe he had other commitments already so the next highest finisher took his slot.
Go Ethan!
omg I want to see Dimaga again <3 Also go Dennis!
You'd imagine less players would pull out when an event has garunteed prize money even if u go 0-3 in the group stage but I guess not. Im still really excited for this event and hoping for strelok to do well. If nothing else, seeing how the chinese do will be pretty interesting against the foreigners and the 4 (3 lol) korean invites.
haha You would think there would be better players overall at an iem... well hasu is good, dima is great, puma is great, strelock, jyp, revival and demuslim are all good. Unfortunately I know no chinese plays aside from xigua. Ya, well if a chinese player were to take a tournament they will have a better chance at this one that any other it seems.
What is up with Idra and his sick luck of the draw. Getting Jinro and elfi.
A: Puma, HasuObs (should be easy for them) B: JYP, Dimaga (group of death, could even see JYP fall) C: Idra, Jinro D: Revival, Strelok
Lol Jinro is Korean and Swedish. Idra n puma ftw EG
Strelok wins his group EZ
A and C are fairly weak groups, lol.
Should be interesting to see IdrA vs Jinro though. Who knows what Jinro's play is like nowadays.
Weaker Koreans in this. I'd still fancy Puma to win though.
mmm I think Puma can take it, but xigua also has a chance as he is a mad strong player
and stop bashing the chinese >: its not their fault sometimes when they withdraw
Nooo Group B is unbearable T_T. Ssss
Come on Jinro! Show them what you're made of!
Oh man I can't wait to see how the Chinese perform. They're pretty good on ladder, but don't really participate in international events.
hmm jinro vs Idra battle of the slumping foreigners ;d
I see PuMa taking this, idk too much about the chinese players, but they haven't done much outside of china, idk how they compare to someone like PuMa. Toss up probably between Xigua, demuslim, dimagaa, and idra for 2nd imo. Heard xigua is good, demuslim is really good in tvz when he plays right. IdrA can play really well, but he lets his emotions get to him too much. Dimaga idk bout his zvt, his zvp is solid, his zvz is NesTea calibur so hmmmm
Puma and Hasu out of group a,dimaga and demuslim from b, idra and TBA from group c, and Strelok and revival from the last group. Who will win the whole thing.... I just can't see puma losing this.
My picks: Group A: Puma
Group B: If the rumors of XiGua are true, then I can see him taking the group. If not him, then probably Dimaga.
Group C: I would really like to say Idra, but Idra has been slumping from his old skill. Jinro seems to have really slumped. If the to be announced player is wicked sick, I could see him taking the group, if not him, then Idra.
Group D: Strelok. He looks really strong lately.
MaNa would destroy that group. Oh well.

In shape Idra is obviously a force to be reckoned with.
I think he's actually starting to put in a little work these days, so we might see the best Grack has to offer.
That said, I seriously think Elfi has a chance to earn some fans in this group...
The kid is sick good, and he's been on fire over here in Europe lately.

Group C IdrA vs Jinro! WOOO Nice groups imo, Group A I think we know who takes it but apart from that, it looks sick!

Jinro and Strelok fighting! This is a great opportunity for both of them I think.

hopefully elfi will suprise

7 Terran 5 Zerg 3 Protoss 1 TBA
For those who were wondering. ;/
as long as someone from Team EG wins than i will be happy.
side note please please please for the love of god lets this come on at a reasonable hour
Few notables in this tournament more interested in the Chinese players as i have no idea what skill level they are.
I think Puma will win this.
Are Bitterdam casting this?
Everyone looking for a chinese player beating PuMa. I'm looking for that too, but I hope the SEA peeps wreck some shit up!
Group B is definitely the Group of Death. If Dimaga is as good as he was in GSLWC (dunno about his current shape) I definitely see him advancing along with xigua. Demuslim just recently recovered from his injury and JYP is Protoss despite being Korean and Protoss has been underperforming lately.
As a person who's aware of the Chinese BW and War3 scene for 6+years, I have no idea who YHY and Way are
as much as i want to see idrA win it, i dont think he will
my expectations about his performance are very low right now, i will cheer with all my heart, but will not be suprised if it wont go well for him.
i think Dimaga and Puma are the favourites to win, GL to everyone.
Jinro will make a comeback here !
The Koreans are going to dominate so incredibly hard in this tournament, they are great and this is not the best representation of Foreigners.
Anyone know if there is an update on the TBA from Group C? This tournament is only a couple days off lol.
Group B is absolutely crazy, gl demu I'll be cheering for you as always!

PuMa will probably take it all. None of those players really compare to him.

I mean, wow!

Another Free tournament win for Puma. GL to the field
I think Revival might take it actually. Puma will probably make the finals and JYP will get 3rd. Dimaga is my wildcard.
Where is Infi.........
I rly hope Infi could owning them all ^^
this will be no ez win for puma and IEM seems to get less hype compared to other tournaments, so sad.

Group B is far and away the most interesting group.
Should be an entertaining event!

So is it basically confirmed that DeMusliM will be replaced by Rain?

Oh my god group B is sick

why are so many people saying stuff like "free win for puma"? yeah he is one of the favourites, but what about JYP? he's best just frickin amazing lateley

Demuslim ftw

I'm in disbelief this is like a couple days out and there is no word on the 4th Chinese invite. I'm supposed to be writing an article for a site on this event, but it's a couple days out they don't even have the invite list out?

Nope not your cup. Didn't catch that.

It's okay Rain got his visa and he'll be going to Guangzhou after all!
lol group B, pretty sick
also idra gna be mad after elfi cheeses him
Anyone know the time this is starting? Its not on TL calendar and I couldn't find it on ESL's site.
We were told, in an exact quote, when IEM asked us if Rain could replace DeMusliM, "hes Korean and won't need a VISA."
Obviously we trust an official word from IEM staff -- Korea and China are neighbors, seems pretty reasonable that a Korean citizen might not need a VISA to go to China...
Then at the airport we find out that this isn't the case. Not only do we have to spend about $500 to get him an emergency VISA and change his flight to the next day, but the flight is changed to today, the tournament starts today.
We're told that his match starts at 11am and he should get to the venue and start playing immediately after arriving. They're expecting a 17 year old kid to get around that quickly in a foreign country T_____T
sucks to hear that xeris... another drama story =(
You seriously didn't bother double checking it when that kind of information is available in the net? Don't just blame IEM only imo.
Lol Xeris, the tournaments hosted by you always had all kind of issues. Try to work on that first and then make public the issues you have with other organizers. What are you trying to accomplish with that post? make us hate ESL?
Maybe IEM didn't knew that Rain is in US, and even if they knew, it's your job to double check possible VISA issues for your own players.
Don't be dicks to Xeris because he does more for eSports then you bitches will ever do.. He's just frustrated and is venting. ESL fucked him there because he didn't have any time to do things right, the way it should be done!
It doesn't mean ESL is "killing esports" or whatever.. it just means they didn't behave like they usually do and should.
Ît sucks for ESL, Fnatix+Xeris and especially Rain..
GL tho hope they wait for him, i expect that for messing this up.
User was warned for this post
Why should IEM have a clue about the Visa regulations between Korea/China (or/and a Korean that lives in the US)?
I mean, it's shitty that they said he doesn't need one, but ahm... Shouldn't the manager of Rain know these kind of things in the first place?
I understand your venting but blaming IEM 100% is also not the way. If i would blame anyone then the players (or the teams) that qualified and decided not to go... This most probably wasn't easy for IEM too...
On September 30 2011 23:46 Xeris wrote: I'm really disappointed with the IEM management in this case. We were told, in an exact quote, when IEM asked us if Rain could replace DeMusliM, "hes Korean and won't need a VISA."

Seems more like your team's management is incompetent, whether or not a VISA is needed by Rain is something your management should've addressed in advance. "Korea and China are neighbors" part is extremely naive and borderline ignorant. When traveling to other countries you should always check if a VISA is required, this simple information is available online. Yes the IEM staff might have mistaken your players situation, but is the job of management not to just take peoples word on something like this, but to explore every avenue and cross check the information with other sources.
I'm not blaming IEM 100% , it's just a shitty situation and it seems strange that a tournament organizer would give us wrong info like that. I mean if the organizer of a tournament gives us some info, we expect it to be true.
If DH tells us that they will be covering the hotel for Valencia, for example, why would we second guess that? Especially with a big organization such as MLG, IEM, etc, we trust that they've been around and have built up enough credibility that when they say something it means they know it.
Obviously, should have double checked which is partly my fault of course. It's a crappy situation though, feel bad for Rain mostly
ANYWAYS, point being it's worked out and he'll be getting there and will be playing

"then you bitches will ever do" - temp ban anyone?
No one is being a Dick to Xeris, it's just that time and time again his incompetence shows through, and he always has a convenient excuse/explanation for it. ESL didn't screw him over, his own ignorance towards the issue did. Furthermore, just because you do something for eSports, doesn't mean you get to abuse the position. No one is doing "work" for eSports because of devoted selflessness, it's because they are passionate about the industry and gaming in general. He's doing what he loves, he doesn't need any special treatment.

What abuse or special treatment are you talking about? I just posted about a situation and expressed my disappointment, no need to read too much intoit
What incompetence are you talking about?
The fact that he was one of the guys responsible for giving 100k to SC2 players in prizes in a tournament like NASL? what is the problem? the lag? the casters? the players? Or maybe you don't like CGPL or you think fnatic is not being run properly?
100k man that's like all the MLG's vs 2 !
So yes you are being a bitch because if he is incompetent for some minor mistakes in a tournament then i guess i would love to have 10 more incompetent xeris out there creating tournaments, managing great teams like fnatic, more events, etc..
you are nothing but a whiner and a sorry ass that doesn't 1% of what the incompetent Xeris does...

After talking with IEM they've arranged a pickup for Rain at the hotel (yay)... so everything is good.
peace and love everyone
