To all the people complaining about them "only doing one rep:" They're training as powerlifters, not bodybuilders. It's about the pure brute strength, and they're maxing out to test what their limits are. And it's not like they just walked in and went straight to that weight. There was likely a warm-up doing reps at lower weights. Also, powerlifters aren't usually concerned about their physique. They aren't looking to get "cut," they're looking to build more muscle to get stronger.
I wasn't too far from what Idra's benching now when I was in high school, but I stopped lifting for some reason (stupid choice looking back at it). The video really made me want to start up again.
The video of the inside of the EG house was nice. Pretty nice setup they had going D'AWWWW, PUPPY!
" I am benching just over 500lbs right now without having my shirt figured out. My top end strength is astronomical however where I am locking out over 700lbs on the racks. Once I figure out the shirt and work on the lower end strength (of a bench) I will be right in and around 700lbs."
Yea pretty well known to the older members of TL :p.

I don't think the person tabulating the weights can count right.
By that video, Idra's got two 45-lb plates and two 30 lb plates. So unless that's a 55 lb bar, I can't tell how accurate those numbers are. Not saying as a hater, just as someone who's worked as a personal trainer...
Hey man, go to the gym sometime. It's common knowledge 45 + 35 on each side is 205. : )

Just progression man! His girlfriend has been quoted as saying he eats very, very well and he gets extremely positive reinforcement from incontrol and machine. I'm sure he started at like 40-50 kg but each week you get that much stronger. Good for him

The world's strongest men are fat. They are strong, but they are fat too. What is so hard to understand? 25% bodyfat is considered obese... Doesn't matter how much muscle you have. obese is obese.

As far as I can tell, in the United States, gyms use 35lb weights and not 30lb weights. Not sure if that is different in Canada.
If he actually lost some weight and maintained his current muscle mass he would be a scary looking dude.
He would be, but that's more of a fantasy than a realistic goal. The average person definitely has to carry extra weight in order to eat the calories necessary for that kind of muscle mass. If he tried to lose fat (by eating less calories), he would also lose strength.
Personally, I would make the choice to slim down, but I bet its fun to throw around weight like that.

....the someone with that much muscle mass needs that extra fat for fuel. fat is the body's fuel source after all.

197.312681 kilograms had a lot of fun watching the videos good job
Holy shit. That is literally insane. I don't think I've ever even seen anyone irl who could lift that much and I used to go to the gym for several years. And my alltime record is like half of that. Should probably start going again. :D

In europe the bar is usually 20kg. Not that that helps you much
lol Incontrol didn't even seem to have trouble with that. Feel like he could have done a lot more. Feel like machine and Idra were closer to maxing them selves out.

Well, to be precise, he actually didn't.If he went all the way down to his chest I would imagine he could get up maybe 90% of that. It's still very impressive progress in such short time. Seems like he has good genes for this.
Good form overall on the bench press, I have a few pointers: Greg- Go down all the way. You MIGHT need to drop the weight a bit, but you might even see an increase in strength, and completing the range of motion will only serve to make you stronger.
Bryce- Was that a bounce? I couldn't see for sure, which means it's not really a problem, but make sure you don't let it become a problem.
Geoff- Only problem I see is how fast the bar is moving. Lift more weight son!
So great to hear that such a vast mass of people are getting inspired by this! I was happy with benching 85 kg but now I feel like I have to beat idra!! I would be very interested to see what these guys can manage to lift when doing dumbbell press(hantelpress for us Swedes) seeing as bench revolves a lot around technique when you start lifting more than 100 kgs.
