This is the tweet from OnionTaker who is, I think, a translator for Jessica:

I don't think people understand what's happening with @SlayerS_Jessica and the legal action. I was talking about it with her, so let me explain her position: she isn't just suing random people, whether fans or antis.
When a female player joined the ranks of SlayerS, certain people photoshopped her into indecent and pornographic images out of spite. Others also spammed sexist, derogatory posts about her Jessica. Eve feels humiliated and hurt by the abuse.
Jessica is not suing the average anti who is saying bad things about SlayerS: she is taking action against people who are immorally persecuting her and one of her team members.
Korean observers see what's happening, but there's some non-Koreans who think that she's just suing random Starcraft fans: this is not true. She's going after the people who are defaming and humiliating one of her team members.
Jessica is trying to protect SlayerS Eve, someone who has only just come into the public eye and doesn't deserve the abuse. She is doing what any person would do to protect their family and friends; if someone close to you was getting that kind of abuse for absolutely no reason, wouldn't you do everything in your power to stop it?

If the OP can update that with this tweet. It would make this discussion much more useful. Thank you.

so that i do not have to worry that much about going to jail for something i said? This troubles me that in korea you can get sent to jail for something you say which is rather preposterous.
Now harassment is an entirely different subject but that usually takes at least fifty threatening messages before it is even looked into (made up number but it is quite a few though).
feel sorry for the slayers fan though, just offering some constructive criticism :/. lol, most of the people that jessica is suing is in fact the ones that were harassing. she obviously isn't suing people that gave constructive criticism. although I do agree on some parts that she is over reacting, I've seen the photoshopped pictures and the posts myself and I don't think she's over reacting to those at all. there were photos of eve's face photoshopped into porn screenshots with things written below defaming the entire slayers team or jessica or boxer etc. well i said i feel sorry for the slayers fan and that was all, the rest of your post is well not going against my post so no arguments there.... you were bringing up freedom of speech which implied that you were saying what she is doing is against freedom of speech, thought it was funny
I'm curious, what's this all say? http://twitpic.com/5rzlc9

I wouldn't say exactly cultural pride, but rather cultural shame caused by internet flaming.
No it's the other way around. Internet flaming is an example of the issue, but not the cause. Children who don't make it to university commit suicide because of their parents damaged pride. Single parent working mother commit suicide because of shame to society. A 22 year old women is "seriously abused" by her head on a nude picture, etc.

If it hadn't been Slayers_Jessica doing the swinging I would have dismissed this as an over reaction. However I have much more respect for her then many notable SC2 Pros. I'll trust her judgement that this is not an over reaction and wish SlayerS the best.
Even if I disagree wholeheartedly with SlayerS_Eve being on the team.

This needs to be added to the OP.

It's a known fact that korean netizens can be extremely rude on the internet (Stork's girlfriend anyone?). I think Jessica is doing the right thing, since there's a minor involved. Hopefully these idiots will think twice before posting offensive pictures and stuff next time.

The spat with the 16 year old tweeter and other fans like her is completely stupid and counter productive. The legal action taken against the groups on the photo message boards is understandable. I don't know anything about the Korean legal system, but I would assume based on some of these posts that Slayers Jessica has a case. However, this whole thing is kinda stupid, I don't really understand what Eve is doing there, she seems to be there exclusively because she is female, which is stupid. We shall see.

the way I see it.

[Edit: Just to be clear, I am not saying she is overreacting for taking people who has insulted Eve in sexual ways (putting Eve's face on AV) to the police. I am saying she is not being careful enough to exclude justified criticisms, and private discussions which would remain private unless she brings it out to the public.
This is a red herring and you know it. Seriously? You're offended at the idea of her releasing private twitter messages?
A crappy headline like "Is she overreacting?" is a disgusting dismissal of hate
[Edit 2: She DID NOT sue this girl. she had a public argument, detail in the spoiler] How is this is this relevant at all then

That seems a little strange to me, it's not an over reaction because it's Jessica?
She's great and all but I think she's over reacting here, and just because she is who she is, she doesn't really get a free pass to be absurd.

I love SlayerS, and reacting the way she has is understandable because such a large emotional investment in the team. Unfortunately for her, she's just asking to make it worse by doing this. You don't push the internet and not expect it to push back. She best be ready to weather the storm.
Maybe this isn't the thread for this, but why oh why is Eve even on the team? They should seriously just snag up tossgirl, she could definitely do some damage at least internationally in SC2.

bravo to jessica for standing up. why join the bullies when you can beat them?
the term overreacting is relative. you do what you have to do to protect the people you are responsible for.

This being the case I'm siding with Jessica on this one then, alot of this thread made it sound like she was spam suing but that not being the case I think this is a reasonable response to the situation. There's no reason for her to tolerate that especially if there's SK law allowing her to take legal action.

that puts a lot of things in perspective. You could argue that these things happen all the time, but Jessica's initiative is a good starting point to saying enough is enough. People can question Eve's qualifications in a civil manner, but that's not what is going on here.

There are plenty of other examples in the west and to my knowledge there aren't many suicides attributed to internet hate.
