The things that remain constant for me are that I don't care about people trying to be funny with BM/being edgy with racism/absurd amounts of profanity. All of these in moderation can be hilarious but once they're just part of the gig I roll my eyes and laugh about how they try too hard. I'm also very likely to mute if I dislike the music, which is 100% of the time when someone streams kpop. I love watching coaching sessions, and think anyone who wants to fill that void would do well to promote.

Destiny taking the piss out of cella on stream saying things like "you make many many corrossi, ok?" could be seen as racism, but its still goddamn funny. Jinro has some pretty racist music on his stream too, but people don't seem to bother with it. As long as the streamer isn't being blatantly offensive with it then I don't see a problem. Destiny, Debo and Cella together on stream is the funniest thing I've seen in the world of SC2, it might not be educational, but tbh if I want to learn about the game I should just be laddering more, streams will always be entertainment to me. I voted: Education - I want to learn more about good gameplay Though I could just as easily have voted for entertainment -- it's a mix of both. Which of these is most important to you in a stream? I voted: High video/audio quality Considering that I won't watch a low quality or choppy stream (see: IncontroL's stream a month ago), this is the most important factor for gaining and keeping my viewership. Music? I voted: Never! I prefer to just play my own music or have no background music I have no interest in listening to music while watching Starcraft. Unconditionally, I either mute streams that are blasting music or I don't watch them at all. IncontroL and I have basically the same exact taste in music, but it's a distraction while watching more than anything. Do you enjoy hearing the streamer talk about the game as he plays? I voted: Why not? It's cool to hear, but it doesn't make or break a stream for me I think Artosis' stream really benefits from his commentary, but mostly because he's trained to talk and entertain others. Some people are good at it and it helps make the stream better; others aren't great talkers, so talking would take away from it. Would you like to see coaching lessons streamed by those who coach? I voted: Occasionally it's cool, but I'd mostly like to see gameplay Depends on the level of the player being coached. I'm in Master's, so I'm not interested in watching a grandmaster teach a silver how to 3-gate expand, for example. Do you mind harsh profanity/racism/insulting on a stream? I voted: Yes! I really dislike when the streamer doesn't show respect to others Only because of the "racism" modifier, though. Else, I don't mind too much as long as it's done in good natured fun. Do you like streamers doing things other than serious 1v1 games? I voted: No! I only want to see regular StarCraft games I don't have time to play or watch other games, so SC2 is my sole video game interest at the moment. What sort of games are most interesting? I voted: Practice with teammates I can log onto Team Liquid any time and watch people ladder. It's not often that I can tune in to see an EG practice session, to see what they focus on and how they help each other. This was on IncontroL's stream a couple times and I found it fascinating.

Might want to take racism out of that poll question, and take that racism needs to be eradicated and is not ok as an axiom even if some people (very few here on TL as far as I've seen) still hold that sort of archaic value.

Do not stream coaching lessons. I seriously "FFFFFUUUU" every time I open a stream to a lesson in progress. Also this: On May 01 2011 22:56 Sealteam wrote: Just thought I'd mention: Profanity and racism are NOT in the same category to me. I'm ok with some profanity, but racism/discrimination is not ok. All except IdrA interact with the viewers, and the first 3 generally explain the reasoning behind what they are doing as they play. Sheth and Fuzer play the best music of all streamers. Easy listening, and not overbearing of the actual content of the stream. IdrA is just amazing to watch as a player when he streams. He plays macro games 100% of the time, and his decision making is just insane. (not a fan of the attitude, but you can't look past his skill). I do generally mute his crap taste in music though ![]() Hip hop, dubstep etc are not my type of music at all, so i generally wont watch streamers that have it on. On the other side, i used to watch a lot of cella. the guy is just an awesone bloke. He treats people well, he plays the game well, and he has FUN. He honestly loves what he does, and interacts with the crowd better than anyone else. You can't help but love him.

That is because not everyone is looking for a good and long game. Most viewers including me prefer to watch ladder because there's cheese, bm, etc. and overall I think those games are much more interesting than a standard game.

I was really talking specifically about the racism and homophobia that seems to be just kind of blindly accepted. I mean if you watch certain popular streamer... not going to be specific here..... incredibly offensive comments are commonplace and even encouraged by chat. I don't know I mean I guess it's really a matter of "welcome to the internet" I just hate to see the 4chan leaking into the SC2 community and people not being universally repulsed by it.

On namhcir's stream he talk about the micro tip, his game plan and have dual monitor to answer some of the chat's question. I found that is the stream I mostly want to watch. http://www.justin.tv/namhcir

- Interaction with audience. It's nice to have the streamer read his chat and answer questions and stuff like that. - High skill level. A big reason I watch streams is to learn from the player. Pretty self explanatory here. - First person commentary. I like streamers who go over their replays after they lose and explain why they think they lost and where they went wrong. Part of the learning aspect. In-game commentary is even better, but it's hard to commentate their games while concentrating on them, so I can deal with streamers who don't talk much in game. - Humour. I like watching streamers who have a good sense of humour. I have no problems with the players cursing frequently or bming their opponent in their speech (not directly though, that's a bit far). I have no problems with racist comments or whatever. - Good quality. I can't bear to watch a shitty quality stream. This includes audio quality. Things I don't care for: - Music. If I don't like the music I'll switch to a different stream. Screw muting, I want to hear the game sounds. - Coaching lessons. Sometimes they aren't so bad if the student is half decent and learning more advanced things, but I don't want to watch any player below diamond get coached live. - 2v2s, UMS games, etc. If it's not 1v1 or at least observing a decently skilled 1v1 played by others, I don't want to watch it. It's not that I won't watch a stream if they don't fit most of those preferences, but that would just be my ideal stream.

Yeah I don't watch when someones coaching either, even if I normally would watch it for hours otherwise and it's not because I find it that unappealing but I think rather I only watch for fun the majority of the time. But then again if they were coaching someone that was at my own personal level of play than I just might stay because that would be almost the same as paying them to be coached! :D
