Poll: Do you mind harsh profanity/racism/insulting on a stream?
A bit, it's okay in moderation, but not too often (422) 52%
No! I find it hilarious, keep it coming! (241) 30%
Yes! I really dislike when the streamer doesn't show respect to others (143) 18%

this is so unbelievable and so sad. I just hope 82% of the people misunderstood the question wrong. I really don't think (or hope at least..) that not all of them have no problem with racism..

I'm a part of that 82%. I don't like racism, but I don't think I can personally sway the person to not say it.
I tolerate it, doesn't mean I support it.

I have no doubt the question in this context means racist language, not actual racism.

Poll: Do you mind harsh profanity/racism/insulting on a stream?
Profanity no, racism yes.
The question might lead to the wrong conclusion, you should not put all those topics in one question.

Interesting. For me I would have to say that 1v1 ladder games streamed by high level players of any race with or without commentary are my draw.

On the Survey Itself: The results of this survey are interesting although I believe that the Survey could have given a lot more information if it would have been setup a bit differently. I feel that most of the streams and their viewers are either education or entertainment based and that the things one group likes out of their stream is not on the list of the other group.
To give an example I think that out of the 'education viewers' lot of them (especially when compared to the 'entertainment viewers') will have voted for no/limited music, no to non-serious games, no to the severe BM and in favor of more interaction with the viewers. At the other hand I feel that the 'entertainment viewers' will have less desire for coaching to be streamed while they have more desire for non-serious games and severe BM.
I also feel that the harsh racism/profanity/insulting question should have been split up into multiple questions. While I have no problem with the occasional insulting and am generally fine with profanity I am very likely to look for another stream as soon as the racism starts.
My Personal Preference: My ideal stream would be streaming ladder games (not practice games with his teammates! Keep the builds secret and own tournaments), commentate them as we go along to give a look into his thought-process and decision making and during the downtime between games run a commercial and then awnser some questions out of the chat. While coaching lessons are nice to see streamed I feel those should only be streamed if both the Coach and the Student have no issues with it, the Student's wish is more important then ours as he paid for the hour. I am indeed an 'education viewer'.
EDIT: As a question to people that stream: Is it technically possible to not broadcast your personal music but still broadcast your mic input and game sounds? That way a lot more streams get accesible for people that don't like their streams to have music on them or dislike the music of the streamer.

1. I watch streams to keep myself busy. I cannot stand doing nothing.
2. The quality of the video/audio is most important to me, I can't watch something less than 480p at all, and even then it depends.
3. I don't really care about music. If they have good stuff, I'l listen, but otherwise I listen to nothing.
4. Talking during a stream is just meh for SC2 streams. It is much more entertaining for LoL streams.
5. I don't care about coaching.
6. In certain situations, profanity can be funny, but not chaining curses every phrase. I am really against Racism though
7. Ladder, I guess.

I'm surprised to see that ladder games are preferred over tournament games. I love when I get the chance to see some tournament games first-person (e.g. TL Open right now).

I assume he means jokingly between friends, not serious. Pokebunny streams while on vent/TS/Skype if I remember correctly, and friends like to talk shit with each other.

I watch for both, entertainment and education. I watch just 1v1 games really.
It's nice to hear a little commentary about what the player has in mind for the game, like general gameplay ideas and what he notes when scouting, not talking all the time.
Music in the background is nice but if it doesn't exist I'll listen to my own. The best streams I like are Idra's when he's commenting (iirc he only did this after losing/winning some bet that was discussed in SOTG) and White-Ra when he's commenting.
