I wanted to see if other people have similar stories like mine when being promoted.
I'll tell my story first.
I've been bronze for 2 seasons and have been trying to get better. I've been playing tons (by my scale) lately. And its payed.
SILVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! I literally blew one ear drum from screaming so loud when i saw it pop up. And the best part is i was getting super pissed in the game i promoted in. I had a bigger army but he start sneaking DT's in my base and i couldn't get my heavy ass slow army to defend and i ended up losing my CC. But eventually marched into his base and won!
WOOO share your promotion story of the game and what you did :D
Its so rewarding even if i'm still a nub going from bronze to silver is a big confidence booster! So much fun!!

My promotion stories have been jokes. In Bronze I was smashing everyone once I began to understand how to play the game, but then I finally get promoted by beating some guy in placement. He had barely anything, but he was my last bronze game. In 2v2 I began this Season as Silver. 5 matches later I get bored and pull off a 6 pool. We win and I'm promoted to Gold. The 1v1 promotion felt good, but because I worked for it. The actual promotion game didn't feel that great

Got placed in silver. I didn't play much.
A few weeks before the new ladder season I figured I might as well start playing, because my losses will be deleted soon. I realized how much fun actually playing the game was when i started playing again. I got promoted to gold when the ladder reset.
About 50 games later, I got promoted to platinum after going about 70% wins and 30% losses in gold.

I don't really remember. I was in gold for a week after launch, then platinum for a week, and then diamond, and I haven't really laddered much since masters came out. Could probably get it if I tried.
|
i played the beta phase one as teran, was bronze league after SC2 officialy released, i got into gold league, and used the infamous 3 rax reaper speed rush all the way to diamond.
i am still in diamond playing between toss and teran.
oh and everytime i got promoted i was in school playing, and i would get a league promotion ^.^

I've worked my ass from the bottom of bronze to high diamond / low masters. Feels good bro.
protip: whenever you get up in a league, celebrate it. throw a party or a LAN or something, its one of the best things in SC2

Came fresh out from Company of Heroes, top 10 consistently 1v1 and 2v2 (played Ra3 and Halo 3 on the side). Got into Plat. because I didn't have a mouse, so I used a trackpad on my MacBook.
2 weeks later I got a mouse, made diamond. When masters came out I made that too.
Boring story.

Played 5 games on my new account - won them all. Placed in diamond - played 5 more. Placed in masters. Aint no thing :p

I haven't done much with 1v1 (Platinum). In 4v4 I placed into Bronze attempting to mass singular units (Ghosts) and win with them. I eventually landed on a better singular unit to mass (Marines) and got into Silver, then won 12 straight in a night and ended up going from Silver to Platinum, skipping Gold. lol 4v4
Reaching Diamond wasn't very eventful. Marines too strong.

played games, won them, promoted to plat. lost games, demoted to gold. won games, promoted to plat , etc, etc.
|
In season 1, I was working from Gold to Platinum. I got into platinum because my opponent disconnected from the game. It was pretty awesome.
|
I started in silver and during december I gamed really hard to get promoted to gold. I was then placed in platinum with season 2. But the promotion to gold just felt really rewarding.
On a funny note, my friend (diamond 1v1) and I (platinum 1v1) got demoted from platinum 2v2 to Gold. I coulnd't stop laughing cos he was having a really bad SC2 day. We won 2 matches then lost 1 and got demoted.

Since release, i've gone Bronze > Silver > Gold > Silver > Bronze > Silver > Gold. Awesome, huh?
|
hm... beta was plat (when plat was highest), the release got into diamond after about a month, then stopped playing much for season 1. season 2 came around, i played over 150 games, then masters promotion, i was so happy =D
|
Last season I got promoted to diamond by stopping a 6 pool. I was playing on Steppes and managed to block off my ramp with 2 gateways and a forge. Safe inside, I built a stargate and chrono'd out a void ray. Once I had the void ray I sent out my 3 gate army and the voidray and attacked. The guy had gone mass roaches. As soon as he saw my void he gg'd. Welcome to Diamond.

I was diamond last season and wanted to get masters, I won lots of games but it didnt promote me (i was 30 10 or sth ) then I lost hope and played for fun after some losing streak I managed to korean 4 gate that protoss guy and I was promoted(yesterday) yay!

Started out in copper way back. Knew nothing. Got Brtonze after a few games, then after a total of 50 or so games got into silver. Then I started slowly crawling up and ended platinum when beta was over. After release it didn't take long to get into diamond. Was pretty happy about that back then. Got better over time and I have been in a masters league about three times now. Usually get bored though and screw my ranking over by going random. But hey, they added grand master, so will be trying to get over there.
Feels good to get there, but pressure goes up as well. I actually get hesistant to play ladder, because in the end losing points is only a waste of time.
|
first started off as terran (heard from friend that terran was op), got placed into silver league switched to random, got promoted to plat at beginning of season 2 realizing that I cant do tvp and zvp for shit, switched to protoss as a result, promoted to diamond
|
Played like 7ladder games in beta, got placed in Bronze. When released, I got placed into Gold with 3-2 and 10games later I got promoted to Diamond. Probably the most boring story :D

Last season I had an interesting promotion into masters. Basically, it started with all my good friends getting in easy. Then theres me laddering and my friends all said you should be in masters your good enough. Well apparently for the system to register me as being good enough I literally had to become the best Diamond player in the world. And yes i did check this on sc2 ranks and the only acc higher then mine was Miniguns old acc that was inactive. So by this point I was getting hopeless being so high in diamond and not getting promoted. But then one morning just playing casually I got promoted. I was happy and then got the crap scared out of my when my dad walked in right as I was about to cheer (those two emotions put together isnt the best combo).
Thats my story ^^
