I've always been fascinated by the "Internet Café Generation" and how it produced so many successful founders.

From Tobias Lütke (Shopify) to local SEA success stories like Leo Chen (Jumei) and the teams behind Secretlab/Aftershock, there seems to be a common thread: high-level RTS experience.

I put together a video deep-dive on 4 specific RTS mental models that translate perfectly to business:

I can't attest to anything mental/psychological, though there are plenty of times when my friend and I would use BW analogies to explain real life events I guess haha

The most direct impact on my professional life has been due to general computer skills. Fast typing without looking at the keyboard, familiarity with and willingness to learn niche hotkeys, mouse movement, and being a part of the StarCraft community were all a factor in my getting a job in the past. StarCraft helped me develop all of the above.

I d also argue that the inherently collaborative nature of the foreign scene (multi language, multi cultural, multi timezone clans and tournaments) and tournament admining experience (rules, interactions, general organizational skills) has helped me a lot professionally as well as all the aspects jealous already detailed. Also inferring things from incomplete data.
Btw starcraft was the main drive for me to learn English (and later Korean) too.
