Weekly Cup Competitions Week of May 11 - May 17*Partial brackets may be shown.
Weekly doubles are typically reserved for the elite trio of Clem-MaxPax-herO, but an industrious Classic capitalized on some key absences to take a brace of cups on the week. MaxPax, herO, and ByuN were also victorious in singles cup competition.
May 11: WardiTV Mondays #86

herO and Clem skipped the week's Monday Cups, giving fans the opportunity to see a fresh finals card in WardiTV Mondays. They even got to enjoy the rare presence of a Zerg in the finals, with Lambo taking on MaxPax in the deciding bout (VOD).
Lambo gave a spirited underdog effort, opting for the "kill them before it's too late" approach to ZvP that's become so common these days. While he did manage to take a single map thanks to a backdoor mine-through all-in on 10000 Feet, MaxPax's defenses were too sturdy in the remaining games. The deciding fourth game on White Rabbit encapsulated the series as a whole—MaxPax lost his main Nexus to a Nydus + offensive Spine Crawler all-in, but still recovered to beat his Zerg opponent in the end.

May 11: Monday Night Weeklies #51

MaxPax's attempt at a Monday double was thwarted in the subsequent Monday Night Weeklies, with Classic outdueling all challengers to take the cup (VOD).
The PvP grand finals started with MaxPax giving a rare exhibition of his strength in macro PvP, as he stayed one step ahead of Classic all the way before crushing him with a superior army. However, Classic steered the match back toward the familiar cheesy meta in the next two games, tying the series with proxy-Oracle tactics in game two and clinching the 2-1 win with a proxy-Robo all-in in game three.

The majority of the elite cup players took Tuesday off, giving ByuN an opening to take his sole cup win of the week (VOD). Still, it was hardly a cakewalk for ByuN, as finals opponent had given him many tough battles in recent months. Percival showed exactly what kind of threat he poses in game one of the finals, besting ByuN in a straight-up Marine-Tank macro game. However, ByuN rallied from the early deficit to earn a 3-1 comeback victory, winning with a sneaky run-by drop in game two, good defense against Percival's proxy-Reapers in game three, and with a strong macro performance of his own in game four.

May 12: 2028 Kung Fu Cup #7
![[image loading]](/staff/Waxangel/misc/weeklies/KFC2028_7.png)
herO and Clem were back in action for the Kung Fu Cup, but ByuN crashed their expected finals date taking down Clem in the semifinals. While ByuN has generally struggled to overcome Clem's off-race Protoss in the recent past, this time around his two-base pushes were able to crack Clem's defenses wide open.
ByuN proceeded to give another fantastic TvP showing in the finals against herO, but ultimately came up short with a 2-3 defeat. A late-game Liberator beatdown and a two-base timing gave ByuN two of his map wins in the series, and it even looked like he might have had game five in hand after his one-base Marauder attack forced herO to give up his natural expansion. However, herO developed his economy better from the one-base vs one-base situation, and bested ByuN in the eventual macro game (VOD).

ByuN and Classic fought for a weekly double in the final cup of the week, which resulted in Classic barely coming out on top at the end of a close, five-game finals (VOD). Classic went up 2-0 to begin the series, snowballing to an economy win in game one before cheesing ByuN out with a proxy-Gate in game two. However, a resilient ByuN was able to tie the series up, showing his macro TvP prowess by overpowering Classic with Bio-Ghost-Viking armies in two straight-up games. However, Classic would get the last laugh in the final macro duel, as ByuN was unable to fully solidify his Liberator defense system before he was overrun by mass Stalker-Disruptor.
