I decided to hop on and do a quick ladder game. Doubting my ability to multi-task come late game due to being a tad drunk, I decided to 7 pool; I score a quick win. I walked away to piss and came back and saw I had been promoted to Master. Cool.

Of course I get placed in bronze and am there for months. Then I discover Day9, and after tons and tons of ladder games I finally make Silver! But I feel like my skills are above that, and I end up just saying "not good enough, we can make it to diamond". Soon I find myself in Gold league, still feeling inadequate. HOWEVER I do want to say that upon getting promoted to Gold I also earned myself the 100 wins photo (yay Hydralisk!). I then go on a vacation of sorts, and fit in 3-4 long 6 hour ladder sessions, and at the end of the final evening before heading out on the road, I make it to Platinum! Oh the joy! Now people will respect me a bit more! But ever since promoting to Silver, I had the goal in mind of making it to Diamond. I knew I can. So comes along the ladder lock into the new season, and I'm on fire. I feel completely in control of all of my games and feel like I'm outclassing everyone. You cannot imagine my joy when came the first hour of the new season, I am placed in Diamond! Not only that, but top 5 in my league! I am ecstatic, and play quite well that day. I wake up the next morning finally feeling like "now I can play some real games" (of course my MMR is still the same and my calibre of opponents is the same as well, but I feel accomplished). I sit down, and play a match. After a long macro game, I end up not quite having enough bases and get killed. Oh well, that's fine. I'm in diamond now. :D Let's try again. Oh, died to a 4 gate. Hmm. I can get through this, I'm good enough. ![]() Oh, 2 rax. :/ Oh, speedling all in. Fine, I can cheese too. I'm diamond, I can execute it perfectly. Scouting? Nah. I 7 pool 2x spine crawler rush, crush my zerg opponent. Ha! Take that! Oh a protoss opponent? You're about to be 6 pooled. Get there! I eventually fall into a pattern of cheesing every games for about 50 games. You, the experienced TL reader/player that you are, can guess how that went. My win ratio was below 40%. I demote to platinum, where I am now. Smacked some sense into me, and now I am earning my way back in with a macro-oriented goal in mind. I will celebrate once more when I get back into diamond. :D Moral of my story: CELEBRATE when you promote! But don't let it go to your head or you will demote and that's not something you want to celebrate. ![]()

In my first ladder game I was like "WTF this guy is terrible" I was against a 3.8k Diamond Zerg. I stomped him. I proceeded to win 21 games in a row without losing and started getting placed against mid masters players (3.5k Masters). Ladder was locked the next day, waited for a week. Logged in and started my placement. After a 65 minute macro game on Metalopolis against a T, a game in which I used every unit in the Protoss arsenal with the exception of the Mothership, I was promoted to Master League. Now when I heard about Master League it was something I wanted to be a part of so badly, but it was akin to a dream. I was like "yeah I'll make master lol", with my friends. It just seemed like something that was impossible. I have never beat my chest so furiously nor been so excited as when it said I was promoted to Master League :D

![]() 1v1: I started at release getting placed in platinum from 5-0 placement. I had played in the Beta so it was pretty simple to get promoted to Diamond right away. I've probably played 10 1v1 games during the school year so nothings changed since that first month really. 2v2 R: Placed into Plat, played like 10 games. Got promoted to diamond when I did a season 2 placement. 3v3 R: Started in diamond, played like 50 games and won a lot so once master league started, I was promoted right away. 4v4 R: Started diamond, no changes. Once summer starts, hopefully I'll have some exciting 1v1 promotions head!

My MMR is freaking Broken. If it wasn't so insulting to be considered gold league I wouldn't really care. I liked it better when it was just one large ladder in SC:BW and I didn't have to worry about this auto promotion based on god knows what requirements garbage. Edit: Main thing i am fed up with gold is all the terrible tactics, cheesing and all in garbage. I am forced to trudge through. I realize this happens some on diamond, but not nearly as much. I just want to play a decent macro game once in a while. ><

Have been in gold ever since for 100+ games and all it does is play me against high plat low diamond players that I mostly beat and it still refuses to promote me out of gold. Now I agreed with the initial demotion as i was extremely rusty. However at this point I am night and day better then I was when I was in Diamond..yet still stuck in gold. My MMR is freaking Broken. If you were good enough to be in a higher league, you would be. I'm not a big fan of people blaming their own lack of skill on "THE SYSTEM, MAN". On topic: I placed into Masters from Diamond the day after Masters league went into play. I'm an average Masters player, learning everyday. Love this game. <3

Love this game. <3 It isn't a lack of skill, I take on and beat mid diamond players all the time. Most of my friends are high diamond and I beat them half the time. Over 100 games won, winning 4 out of 5 matches, yea sorry something is screwed up. It should of promoted me or..hell demoted me for that matter..Something anything except being stuck in the same freaking league endlessly.
