But what is blizzard's reasoning for this actually? I haven't looked to closely at the sc2ranks stats, but the league distribution overall looked kinda normal in comparison to season 1. Or is this the after-effect off the GM league (200 people cut out of master's, so they changed the leagues slightly to accomodate for that), or is it just a complete guess for yourself to? | ||

It would make alot of sense as they always ban in waves, and it would free up alot of spaces on the higher leagues. They usually announce when they have done some mass banning, but perhaps they are changing their strategy and doing it quietly now. | ||

SC2Ranks still doesn't have the updated numbers, and it may not for a few days (Bronze especially is updated less frequently than the rest). I'd imagine that the thresholds were readjusted to smooth out the league populations though. The biggest difference will probably be shrinking Bronze and building up Gold through Master. I do know that the thresholds for teams were changed (or are being changed very soon) and will no longer mirror the solo thresholds. This is probably going to put a lot more arranged teams (especially in the 3v3 and 4v4 brackets) into Diamond and Master so we don't get anymore silliness like 2-3 teams in total in Master league. | ||

Hmm yea this is what I suspected (I assumed SC2Ranks wasn't completely up to date). Thanks for the info  Although I feel like Masters is still over-represented like Bronze, so I assumed it would be pushing some Masters/Diamonds down and pushing Bronze/Silvers up a bit to populate the middle more... but we'll have see what happens over the next fews days! | ||

Umm, no screenshot, but when i played my season2 placement match i got demoted, and as far as i can tell its the same: congratulations etc.etc. you got placed here. If the no-placement demotion/promotion message is something else than nevermind. | ||

The "demotion screen" says something like "based upon our numbers, you have been reclassified to this league (then shows a picture of the league below and gives some sort of name)." | ||
