His analysis and commentary on this stuff has been viewed by the community as pretty definitive since before release, and his MVP status in the Blizzard forums suggests that they've noticed and want to encourage this. I'd guess that Blizzard's thought process is that the type of detail that Excalibur_Z puts into his threads is way, way more technical than they'd ever want to put out there themselves, so they give him nudges to keep him on the right track rather than offer their own thick, mathematically laden document on how the SC2 ranking system works. As for this current issue, Excalibur_Z has implied that he has specific information that the league boundaries changed. Absent that, I might have also wondered whether this might either be a result of a large shift in inactivity from people who came back after the reset dropping back out of the game (as someone above suggested) or alternatively some kind of correction for promotions that might otherwise be dictated by existing league boundaries not happening in a timely fashion. Excalibur_Z: I'm guessing you are pretty certain those two possibilities are not the cause of this recent shift. Can you blink once for yes, twice for no? | ||

Fair enough. I read this thread and checked my silver division's status immediately. The top 8 or 10 players all had been promoted out except for me, probably because I haven't played the last few days. This is consistent with the impression that it's mostly a bronze/silver/gold rearrangement. | ||
