Due to having played many games and having dealt with many different scenarios within the game I'm pretty calm. Loss streaks don't really make me nervous as well, they just piss me off.

i get nervous when u see that ur playing a player who is less favoured as u feel that u need to win to justify ur position, especially after losing an 'even' match or something.

and especially when it's a mirror match (and especially in pvp)

laddering doesn't really phase me too much, i just know that it's 1 more number, and a match against someone about my skill, so i don't really have to worry about it.. Tournament games on the other hand, especially against higher players, make me pretty nervous

Not really, but after a winning streak it can be tough to go back

I find ladder relaxing because all the opponents are unknown faceless people to me, and for all i care, i might as well be playig the computer because i don't interect with any of them. I can do whatever strategy i want, i can play for as long as i want, i can leave mid game if i want. Nothing matters on ladder. It's basically training mode for people with no practice partners or who want a random game/map.

My opponent doesn't give a shit if lose, and neither do I. I just try to do my best and take comfort in the fact that every game makes me a little bit better as a player.

In contrast, i get far more nervous playing a match against someone i know, because then i feel it means something.
Only if you beleive.

Personally i don't get nervous at all, i just get really stressed if the game goes into lategame with lots of macroing. As for losing; i actually enjoy it, belive it or not, because i get to analyze the games, study my opponents strategy, locate my errors and ultimately get better.

Yes it makes me nervous. Because while i get superhyped after winning a match, losing a match makes me really mad. Especially when i feel i should have won...

Strong emotions either way ^^

I barely ladder at all for 2 reasons : I don't really have a lot of time to do that (I still want to watch all the tournaments, watch streams + school) and I lose all my motivation when it is time to hit the ladder button.

I dunno why, but I don't really enjoy ladder, maybe because I get cheesed so much in diamond (I HATE to lose to cheeses against random peoples). I know I shouldnt worry about those things, but I still do. I will try to find some time to ladder more (well, its what I say everytime...).

It really doesn't. I actually think I'd have more success if it did, because a certain amount of nervousness helps me maintain focus. Right now, I often lose games to stupid crap because I'm too relaxed and my reactions aren't sharp enough.

Also, winning actually makes me want to stop playing, while I can't wait to press the Find Match button again after a loss. This, yet again, is probably not a good thing.

I get nervous when I try a new strategy or build because I know it will not go so smoothly and I'm more likely to loose. Otherwise I am quite calm.

I think I'm sick or something.
When I play my hands get sweaty almost instantly, I start holding my breath alot, I sometimes start shaking slightly.. possibly because of lack of oxygen :X and I have my eyes wide open all the time.. I probably look like someone being tortured lmao.
I've still got a fairly clear head, but I get stressed to max. Every single time basically. I'm in diamond with a fairly good record, so I'm no scrub really, but yeah. I would probably be better if I could be more like chilltoss ♥

Edit: I think it has somewhat to do with my MMR being super high as I've been on a roll lately, so every time I play I face someone around 3300 master, which makes every game life and death basically, as I'm probably not actually on that skill level ^^

I think since the most recent patch where my losses aren't shown I have found myself not as scared of pressing that once daunting button. Now it is just up to making time to play it. :D

Wow, this poll makes me feel so much better about myself. Not to mention that when I load up a game, there's a good chance the other person feels exactly the same.

I literally get so nervous that I forget to blink. I can get to like the 10 minute mark before I realize due to my contacts killing my eyes. Unfortunately at that point it's so bad that I have to ask for a pause to put in eye-drops. <_<
I don't Micro, I FEMTO. That's 9 orders of magnitude more extreme.

i am always very nervous while laddering. i am quite good and think that i can get it to master league (diamond atm), but i am too afraid to fall back to platinum. i dont know why, because i win a lot of games against master league players, but i am too frightened, so i only play custom games ..

maybe someone got a tipp, which can help me. i would like to laddering, but i am a big pussy somehow :/

i'm usually nervous the first game. (I can only play on weekends), but after is OK. I realised the more i ladder, the more i becoming confortable with playing. So my opinion is play more games

For me i found the only way to help is to think that i won't play to win, that is, i'll just play to practice strategy, test something, etc. So, at the moment i think things are getting out of control, or im too much behind, and the game is not what i want i leave. I can't be bothered to try everything to win. It's in a way what Idra does. The moment he sees he's close to losing, cya, don't even need to see my army getting obliterated. That way there's no stress. It's like playing aggainst AI.

I find it incredibly hard to hit the "find match" button. For the few times I have, I've been able to play after that for a while without as much hassle.

The first time however is next to impossible. I'm still not ranked for season 2.

I used to be so nervous about laddering that I would continue to play vs AI over and over and was getting good at beating them, but human opponents always scared me. I think it is just the thought that i have been putting a lot of time into this game and what if someone else is just better and I cannot compete?

After getting better mechanics, I decided enough with this. The AI is not smart, it is predictable and is now stifling my growth. I said to myself, wtf why are you afraid, the other person is just as nervous as you are, they are afraid of what is going on in your base as well. I drank some red bull, got jazzed up, and hit the button a few times.

Now, i always warm up with a couple games vs insane AI opponent to warm up and get my macro going strong before laddering. I am no longer nervous really when pushing the button, instead of shakes, or worry, it is thoughts of strategy and beating this next guy, and the next guy, and moving up the ladder that is fueling me.

Never understood the whole "scared to ladder" thing. There's nothing on the line, unless your MMR has some material value to you.

I always try to play well, and there is some stress in that. SC really makes your brain work at 110% ... but I prefer laddering because I know it at attempts to match me with people around my skill level.
