Mmm i wouldn't say i'm scared but laddering seems to just take it out of me. I can only get through 2 or 3 ladder games straight before i get mentally exhausted. Where as if i'm just 1v1ing with friends i can play all day.

I could play all day, I generally just don't have that much time. Laddering doesn't really phase me unless I go on a really long losing streak, then I just take a break for a little and come back later.

I feel very relaxed, when playing ladder... well sometimes little annoyed after stupid losses, but laddering is normally very chilly^^.
On tournaments I get easily nervous and start sweating/making stupid mistakes sometimes :/

I used to get nervous when I laddered but now that I've played over a 100 games I've realized it doesn't matter.

I played competitive counter-strike for 6 years, I could scrim / play big matches and never be nervous, I just recently got back into the swing of gaming and laddering makes me nervous, maybe its because this game is 1v1 and I'm used to being able to rely on my teammates in 5v5. Anyway, yeah, I get nervous, that will pass though.

Dont know why though, I mean, playing high stakes poker live does not give me the megasweat, nor does playing 3 0 blitz at 2000 level for hours on end, live work presentations or any other much more likely situation. I've been doing better, just pushing that button, as of late not caring/noticing too much.
But the first game of the day, often got postponed multiple days.. :-)

Only the first game of the day makes me feel nervous/jittery. I see why the pros like to spam, because that helps. Afterwards after I've "warmed up" then I'm quite relaxed. SC2 is the only game that makes me feel that way. Don't know why actually. And this doesn't apply to 4v4. I don't care if I lose there I'll leave the moment the game goes sour. That's probably it.

As for losing streaks I always play until I win one. I don't like leaving on low notes. I'll just dwell on it all day.

I get nervous because I know if I go on a losing streak I'll be pissed all day. I don't care about the points, it's just the fear of having my day ruined.

I was the calmest coolest player when I started SC, but the more games I play the angrier I get. No other video game has made me rage like this.

I'm not nervous at all. I used to get nervous in wc3 and would be mentally exhausted after each 1v1 game, but after just playing a lot it stopped. Now in sc2 I don't get nervous at all.
Where's the pleasure in that?

I used to get really nervous before/during/after ladder games! I joined Valor on the EU servers a couple months ago and since then I'm a lot more interested in doing well in those games and I'm using the ladder to practice for that... After this transition I find laddering a lot less stressful and more enjoyable. However, my anxiety from laddering has now transfered to my tournament games. Has anyone had this too?

If my experience is anything to go by, I'd really recommend people to find some other competitive ways of playing starcraft (tournaments among friends, set up a small league etc etc). By doing this you'll be more invested about those games meaning you can ladder a bit more freely in preparation for the tournament :D

Well, it's a tough question. I avoided laddering for a while only playing a game a day or so because I hate the idea of losing, however, recently, I've started enjoying the games even if I lose. Playing as random really makes the game shine, much more so than just a single race

I just almost never have time to play anymore, and the thought of laddering again now that I've been out of practice for months just doesn't seem that desirable because I know i'll get absolutely crushed. The one bad thing about the match making is that it think I'm as good as I was in december when I was playing daily. Now that my play time has dropped to roughly 2-3 games a week, I just basically don't feel compelled to play at all. The system thinks I'm better than I am, and I don't have the desire to lose 50 matches in a row before it realizes I suck again.

I used to be nervous all the time, when I first started out, but I never felt scared once I learned how to play from Day9. Once I learned to macro, I felt way stronger than most people in bronze, and recently made it to diamond.

I've been a bit more apprehensive to ladder since I got to diamond, since I'm wrapping up school soon, and my games have gotten much, more challenging. Diamond is hard, but more fun. once I have time to play a bunch again, I know I any sense of fear will disappear.
In theory, practice and theory are the same. In practice, they are not
