oh not just in europe...I live in canada and it's also pretty bad

Maybe it was just me, but it seemed like the sound wasn't synched correctly to their lips moving. Not huge, but was a minor annoyance. That and I had to keep my sound low because Gretorp was so much louder than Incontrol. I had to strain to hear Incontrol but even with a lower volume Gretorp was always so loud, it felt like he was in my home turning up my speakers every time I turned it down xD

A nice addition would be to spice the studio up a bit, because atm it's pretty dark and dull. Maybe it'll improve when sponsors are added. With GSL you have a view of the crowd in the background, with a studio at your disposal maybe you can do some greenscreen technique?

-Try to minimize how often you talk over each other. I cannot understand either of you when that happens.
-The records on the player's profiles are not updating completely (Match History is not showing the actual score for the match).

Closing thoughts for incontrol/gretorp
this sounds kind of brutal, but for both you guys you really need to make a decision. You can try to split time and be ok casters and ok players. You can focus mostly on playing and be ok to bad casters and good players. You can focus on casting and be good casters and ok to bad players relative to the top players of course.
Guys who are great casters like artosis and tasteless have said time and time again how little they get to focus on just playing the game. It's because they put being top quality casters above playing the game. If you two want to be the next tastetosis that's the sacrifice you guys would have to make. This if being the NASL casting team is that important to you.
If you think you can be top notch casters and be top notch players, I think you might be kidding yourselves. Especially when you're new to casting on a top level as far as casters go. That's not to knock you both, that's just the reality of casting versus playing on a top notch level. It's one or the other both just isn't practical.
If playing is more important maybe you guys should help NASL find people who want to dedicate their time to casting the NASL. That of course assuming NASL has the capability to pay someone to focus 100% on casting NASL.
I completely agree.
Gretorp and iNcontrol have a lot of improvements to make, and it might not be possible to be a "top caster" and also finish 4th at MLG... sorry.
Another *big* upset for me was learning that the matches are pre-recorded, and are simply being re-broadcasted. It's just sad, I had huge expectations for NASL. I thought it was going to be the GOMTV of the united states, but it's nothing close. Without live, in studio matches, the games feel.... like we're all watching a replay together....
The excitement of these NASL games was SERIOUSLY lacking. I found myself turning it off after the grubby matches :/
If you can somehow find a way to increase the hype / excitement, that would be good.

-elaborate, i didn't listen to the cast all the way through but the on the parts i listen commentators just goes "this is amazing!!!(or something along that line)" and after that there is a short pause so plz elaborate on what you are saying or talk about something else i thought there was too many awkward pauses

Is there any possibility to put like a countdown/timer for events on either the streaming page or the official site? Seeing as there would be viewers from all over the globe this might be handy imo.
Also I saw the vote for releasing replays. I was under the impression this was announced they would be doing this for subscribers and (a small) part of the reason i signed up. Really hope this happens.
Keep up the good work.

This is a MUST.
sometimes its so obvious that the one observing is watching a specific player all the time and ABSOLUTELY forgets about going into the other guys vision.
We don't care about build orders so there is no need to check the first 5 minutes of the same player, (I think that this happens since the observer is trying to figure out the build order of that player)
This happened in the first or the second match between STRainbow vs mouzMorrow... The camera was UBER fixed over STRainbow during the first 10 minutes and it missed the 2 dropships... and thus the hype went to hell....
Also in the game between fnatic.fenix and root.kiwikaki. An observer only is needed so the casters can focus on casting without missing anything since many times the observer will se something that the caster haven't seen.
Anyway, this are just specific critics, I do think the job is well done and presented, I really like the comentaries and how the things flow, but it is good to talk about the most simple mistakes .

Another thing - It feels that InControl sometimes goes into some kind of a "fake" mode or trying to hard overall. All these "ladies and gentlemen" and overall trying to be "professional yet funny" doesnt really look good imo.
Would be much much better if he would just relax and act/talk like he does on his own stream or StateOftheGame.
And ye, replace Gretorp :-/

In regards to the VODs. 2 things.
1) Ensure all VODs are up in a fair manner (Say, 3 hours after the games sounds reasonable) 2) Provide different quality options for the VODs. My computer can not simply PLAY 1080, so I have to leave it to buffer for 10 minutes every single game.
That is all! As far as the cuts/dubs/sound quality, etc go. Its all a teething process. I can deal with a slight lack of professionalism in the first 2 weeks. It seems like you're all taking a secure, good quality stream for granted. Don't tell me Dreamhack and NASL has WIPED MLG from your memory. It can't be easy.

I probably am number 20349 but I really need to emphasize how freakin important the LQ option *e:for the VODs and split VODs in general are.

Everything that lacked seemed to just be from inexperience. I thought it was pretty seamless for a first time (second time if you count show match) broadcast.
Sound quality, commentary, transitions, etc all minor things will improve over time. Sometimes its hard to see how everything will fit together until you get it all going a few times.
The only thing I was curious about was the commentary. Either InControl talks too much or gretorp doesn't talk enough, but it seemed quite akward. Maybe I'm just used to Tastosis but I don't know, something didn't feel natural. It felt sort of fake.

The person actually observing the game does a fantastic job highlighting things with their cursor and drawing out attention. The observing in the NASL is lacking this quality. Not sure who is doing this in TSL3 but NASL should probably start doing it like the TSL and GSL to make things look smooth

I would also say boxing things. you can really tell a great player by how fast they can box something and that can be a diversion seeing some of the sicker things they can do with selecting stuff and moveing around the map to.
It feels like they are watching the replay with them talking about different things unlike the other replay things like TSL where the casters just sit back relax and talk about what they see making it exciting while the observer just concentrates on just observing.

gretorp and incontrol have banter/jokes back n forth and it is completely retarded for lack of a better word. not funny, doesnt make sense, total nerds wont even find it amusing....
i think their casting overall is pretty good actually. incontrol sounds knowledgeable and gretorp is alright. just cut these stupid jokes guys really its not funny. u can continue to quote tastosis though.

I think the audio wasn't the best. When the were talking in normal voices I couldn't hear them and when they got excited I had to turn my speakers pretty much completely off. Gretorp's mic was the worst. As for the commentating I think they did a pretty good job. They both had to be nervous so I'm not going to say they're horrible because I've never seen Gretorp cast before so I'm guessing it's basically his first time and Incontrol did good but he even said in ep34 SoTG that he was really nervous. I think by the end of the week, or after a couple weeks, that they will improve a lot in their commentating.
Oh yeah, another problem was I don't have ad blockers because I know that's disrespectful to have on for a free stream but they would commentate after a game and there was one scene where they were saying something bout a great zerg play that people should notice then an ad pops up. I'm sure it wasn't anything too important or that I didn't already know but maybe I missed out on something great to implement into my play. In other words they need to time their ads so it doesn't ruin the commentary.
I don't think they need an observer so they can commentate better either. Practice makes perfect. If I'm not mistaken tastosis observe and commentate and weren't the best for the first few games.
Keep up the good work Incontrol, Gretorp, NASL.

This is a serious issue, finding the VODs you're looking for is a huge pain. It may get better over time, but I'm just used to the GOM treatment where I don't need to be Indiana Jones to find the matches.
|
A lot of perfectionists in here. I think this thread went about it the wrong way. You didn't need a public thread to figure out the things you need to improve on. Talking to players and spectators in general in a different fashion would've worked better. This is negative press and any press isn't good press.
Incontrol and Gretorp did good, not great, but good. They need to come into their own and I think they will. You have to remember they watch so many games and casts as high level players, so how Artosis or Tasteless or anyone casts is already engraved into their brain. So lots of things they do and say will feel like them into they come into their own. It's not their fault, it's just experience.
My only problem is the non live aspect. Even though I wasn't spoiled or anything, it's still annoying to know it's not live. Something about it really makes it boring to watch.
