better sound, and perhaps new camera angles in the studio. if possible set up a winners/loosers interview through skype, phone line or chat to buy time it could be predetermined set of questions for the players to answer
Something else that would be cool is to award the best game/player of the week Awards in general is something that energizes both player and spectators, more awards!

I don't understand what you mean by "there's no need for the entertainment". I specifically said that replays are NOT for entertainment. They're for learning from and making yourself a better player. Exactly what the SC2 community has always been about.
If the NASL is confident about their production value, then releasing replays won't effect them in any way.

well as i posted before, there is simply no reason to release the replays. It would just be unfair to the players.

Also, replays have nothing substantial danger for competitors what live streams dont already show. In streams we already see what is the style of the players and general timings for things which is enough to know how to those players play.

the pros are putting a lot of effort into refining their builds until they are perfect. Sure everyone can figure out a baic build when watching the vods, but the little things are hard to notice when there are no replays released. Why should the pros work their asses of just so others can steal their builds without putting any time on refinement? Seems kinda unfair for me

You can get all GSL and TSL replays off SC2Reps, if NASL does decide to release the replays it would only do more good than harm, the more people that watch the replays and see the quality of the games the more likely they are to tune in to the live stream.

19. release multiple resolutions of the VODs. 1080p is great, but I'd like to watch it at 480/720p without having it stutter every 2 minutes due to buffering

It's incredible to see the improvements made since Clash of the Titans. These are the things that stuck out in my mind:
The Set. The set looks fantastic; the matte finish feels so stylish. It ushered a professional feel right from the beginning. At first, I did feel like a tiny bit more color would be nice.
The Casting. You can tell both casters have practiced up. Incontrol is obviously the rock upon which the commentary rests, but Gretorp has dramatically improved since Clash. Overall, a good mix of narrative and analysis. I'm actually looking forward to hearing more from the duo, which is crazy after Gretorp left such a poor first impression on me. I appreciated the jackets- losing the hoodie was a good choice. Also, proletariat.
The Content. While some of the games were more entertaining than others (It was painful for everyone to see Battlenet rear its ugly head between Morrow and Rainbow), they did well to find a storyline behind every matchup. In my opinion, NASL sets the standard in this regard. The post-game interviews were a fantastic addition, and they worked well with the other vidoes, map fly-throughs, etc, to keep the production from feeling stale.
The Early Game Split Screen. This is a fantastic idea, but it could have been executed better. I would love to see each caster pick 1 player to focus on in the early game so we could continue to see the builds unfold in both camps. This is largely the only criticism I have.
Overall, I was in love with the production quality- you could even tell time was taken to find the perfect way to present the NASL/JustinTV/Facebook/Twitter overlay.
A big, big thanks to everyone involved.
TL;DR I agree that Gretorp still has improvements to make, but he's on the road to winning me over. Production quality was not lacking. Everything seemed to serve as a device to finding the story behind the games. 5 stars.

From a financial stand point it can be very bad as they are making money from this. If say Day9 Or Husky started casting their games many players who are fans of theirs might skip the live show and favor the versions by the more well known casters which would reduce revenues and decrease the chance that they can have more tournaments in the future.

A better time to send it live perhaps? I would much rather see stuff live rather than having to watch the Vods.
I end up looking at the results instead of watching the games.

Did anyone else think the casters would benefit from this knowledge:
Indeed- Synonyms: absolutely, amen, certainly, doubtlessly, easily, in point of fact, in truth, naturally, of course, positively, really, strictly, sure thing, surely, assuredly, truly, undeniably, undoubtedly, verily, veritably, very, very much, well

1) this is a big one,
i went to to watch a match this morning cause i got 5 emails from NASL,
and it only linked me to the HD stream.
and it kept stuttering, so i went to the NASL's site,
and no videos were there,
so clicked full schedule, and it just shows me who won the matchup anyway...
so much for keeping that a secret.
how am i suppose to watch the replays? where are they putting the videos?
2) i was getting pretty upset being in the dark, because they just kept the income tab open most of the game.
3) casters kept missing key points.
4) gretorp seems like a nice guy, and i will give him a chance, but i have my doubts
5) I Feel like there are just to many matches, i think i would rather one match instead of a best of 3 between each opponent this early.
a potential of 15 (5*3) matches a night is to much.

Needs in-game music. Personaly I find using the mp3's is the best way that way you have continuous music runing regardless if in a game or not.
Need player/score title bar on screen allways.
Should have NASL logo on screen allways in normal location (on right).
Should have player country flags when showing detailed player info, we are trying to tell people more about the players and where they come from / represent is interesting.
For the map analysis in the pregame show the 3D walkaround is good and all (and new but I would love to see more of the traditional drawing on the map like I've see in OSL etc. The game/maps are still 2 dimensional so pointing out/marking chokes points and expansion paths would be great. Day9 has done this great before.

If the NASL is confident about their production value, which they've been marketing from the start, then releasing replays won't effect them in any way.
Youtube casters just won't have the same quality in production that NASL has. That's a big part of what you're paying for.
|
It's probably just a day 1 chemistry thing, but i found it funny that Incontrol threw in the word "gretorp" in random places all cast as if he was talking to him. It just sounded really forced and odd, and if you didn't know better youd think the player he was talking about was Gretorp, not the dude next to him.
|
- A simple 2D preview of the map would be much better than this weird 3D preview. - music: more music
|
I actually disagree completely with everyone saying that more music is necessary. I feel like it detracts from the focus of the game at times and makes the casting less smooth than normal at times. I know at least several times while watching the GSL i wish they had disabled the music, whether it was because it was too loud or just unnecessary.
|
I thought the first day was ok, the only big issue I had was not focusing on the action. I could see other drops/fights happening on the mini map that were not shown.
I remember in one match they were focusing on a small muta harass when a huge battle was going on in the middle of the map.
Also it would be nice if they had a very quick segmant in the pre-game to go over what SC2 is (tried to get my wife into watching but she was lost).
