At one point, as many as 3 commercials played with only 2-3 seconds of pause in between where the stream would cut back in briefly, then cut back to a commercial. By the time the Ad-blitz was finished, the next game was already well underway with the stream coming back to hear casters in mid-sentence.
I'm not sure if you're doing this on purpose in order to encourage people to cough up the $25 dollars. If so, that's understandable, but extremely disappointing. A friend of mine who I invited to watch was new to the scene, and saw the sudden abruptness of the commercials as a rather hurried ploy to milk the viewership numbers.
The aim should be to market the stream such that all of the content is watchable to the audience at large. Seeing commercials abruptly cut in the middle of important analysis discourages potential customers and instead drives people to throw up adblock in order to avoid the headache. Certainly a counterintuitive result if the goal is to maximize profits.
am i the only one that saw ZERO commercials during the whole broadcast from start to finish?
i dont have ad-block of any kind running but i do notice when i watch justin.tv through teamliquid.net i get zero commercials. even when watching idra or incontrol stream, i can see them type /commercial and see no commercials pop out. (hopefully this doesnt get fixed, i hate commercials)

Please consider different payment options, especially Paypal. A number of international customers do not have credit cards. I am sure you are losing some revenue just because of the lack of Paypal.

Paypal will be coming sometime in the future.
Incontrol's quote from the "NASL Season 1 passes = $25" thread:

Comparing the NASL to the GSL, and in fact, many other SC2 events, the enthusiasm of the casters don't seem to be up to par. I don't feel the same kind of energy I do from Incontrol and the other guy as I do from guys like Tastosis, Day9, Chill, Wheat, Husky, etc. It may have to do with the fact that the NASL does not have a Live audience like GSL and MLG do. Having the casters genuinely excited is a very important point, as it gets the viewing audience excited as well. And I definitely would not want either of the NASL casters to fake excitement as a result of this post either.
I don't quite know of a good way to solve this. I am NOT saying to get a Live audience, obviously, just comparing the kind of energy I feel from GSL and MLG to the NASL casts.

I will agree above and below as to improvements that could be made and also that some people are far to picky and or critical, I can say discriptivly that my viewing of the first cast of the NASL did not do much at for me, The fact that something that has been hyped for so long (the announcement of the announcement) etc. even needs a thread this long about how they need to improve says something in itself...Either they should have rolled out with something far more refined than this or came at it with a "We are here next week, Super big deal...Be there or be square!" type of deal which I think would have been more fitting of the quality given in the cast.

Offer VODs in lower resolutions than just 1080p. Paid for subscription because the broadcast times are terrible for Australia, but I can't even watch the VODs I paid for.

I am in the same boat, would really appreciate it if we could get the vods in 720p.

I would like a 2 min break to pour a drink or hang a leak after every 3-4 games.
I would also like Gretorp to settle down a little. I have enjoyed listening to him in the past, but today he seemed a bit over excited /obnoxiously loud at awkward times, which i found a bit stressful to listen to.
I enjoyed listening to incontrol

Swapping between production/stats/army tabs would be nice, having the "units lost" tab on the artosis match for half the game was quite vexing.
Oh and let SO MANY BANELINGS die.

personally i dont like gretorp's voice for casting... but i think we have to deal with it for a long time.
i agree with the OP at nearly all points.
and one point i have to point out for my self: you !need! a good observer. see apollo at dreamhack, that was soooo wonderfull. rly or if they cant do it, get a third person, thats rly the best solution.
the observer has to: - move his mous rly slowly, - show importants points on the screen with his mous - e.g. show just startet upgrades with mous, show the building, - show now and than the ups of units (point again with mous on it) especially before a battle can accure - move camera slowly - to get a smooth camera movement, follow a unit by clicking on the portrait or with the shortcut - dont make "spam boxes" with the mous(like gamers do in the beginning on thier workers) - always select a building or unit that is interessting - e.g. click on one of the stalker (ppl can see ups) - select all Colossus (ppl can easy count numbers) - switch information TAB, - e.g. in start show income - while battle show armee TAB - after harras show the "new" armee tab (strg+a) and units lost tab (strg+r) and point on the numbers with the mouse
and rly, in my opinion a caster cant do all this in a good way, "and" talk at the same time with is co-caster in a good fashion.
apollo did some things at dreamhack rly good, but even he didnt do all this.
just watch some of the GSL games... thiere observer is good. oh yeah and the TSL observer is good too! and if you didnt reconise it yet, TSL have 3 ppl in the replay.... 2 caster 1 observer...
sry for my english. obviously not my first language
hope for a great future of NASL mfg

i want to start by saying i watched day1 of nasl, and it was amazing, but:
1) breakes between series would've been nice. i do need to get a drink, take a leak, get some food, smoke a cig sometimes. 2.5-3hrs without a break is too much
2) music. get some. in game, after win, between games, GET SOME.
3) sound. quality is kinda bad, and sound was not normalized, so when gretorp or incontrol started shouting, it was REALLY loud.
4) make use of those observing features, different tabs, camera following units, show the freaking apm tab when you hyped vibe's apm so much. don't leave units lost tab on for the rest of the game when you used it once.
casting could've been better, but it was the first day, and im 100% sure casting will improve over time.
i'll be tuning in again for sure!

I'd like to see the Standings page on nasl.tv rank players by record, and not alphabetically. A minor point as of now, but further down the road it'll be a little tricky to spot the correct ranking.

The vods are a real pain to watch atleast for me, it gets hickups that makes me have to refresh the page, and jump back to the spot where I was watching. Letting me watch for like maybe 5 mins, then I have to do it over again. It looks like it wont buffer at all, kinda weird I haven't seen it before so I don't know whats causing the problems if its the vods or my computer. A bit sad tho since I payed for it and I cba watching it while this is going on

I've not read every single comment in this thread yet because of a lot of them sounded pretty stupid and were mostly the same so not sure if any of this has been said already.
Didn't people say bad things about Artosis when he first started casting GSL? I don't know much about Gretorp or if he has done much casting before but he might have just been nervous on camera and didn't want to let it show, people need to give him a chance to grow into it and get some more confidence.
The only thing that I feel is worth mentioning is the game sounds were a bit too high and it was hard to hear the casters sometimes in the middle of a battle.
I enjoyed Day 1 and will be watching it again

I did buy a season pass prior to this airing. I was not expecting GSL the first go around. What I did see I liked and there is promise for much improvement as this goes on. Two big things that stand out but may seem small to you. Please do not do the jacket with the T-shirt(even gsl makes this mistake). You are either going for a professional look or not. The in between we are trying to be hip look just does not work.
The second is the vod options. You have to open up more then 1080p. I have no problem viewing but when I saw this I felt bad for all the other people who I know will be hugely inconvenienced by this.
EDIT: Not calling for Gretorp to give it up yet, but wow Kelly Milkies is a shining star next to him.

Sort the standings page by points.
