For the prize pool NASL has I reckon 250 people would be ideal considering MLG has unlimited for the online qualifier so you can seed in their tournaments. Up to NASL though.

How else do you have a serious competition if you're not bringing the players to the same physical venue to play? Online tournaments are laughable due to the number of variables that are out of the organizers' control.

GSL wouldn't grow AT ALL in Korea if it were an online tournament. Do you think it can compete with the likes of BW tourneys if it were an online tourney until Ro16? And that Ro16 is what, going to last a weekend?
Korea already has a very nice infrastructure for E-sports. Why should they make it online when they can already produce the tournament with high production value and plenty of top players available to participate in?

Sure, it's easy for foreigners to just pack up and go so long as they're committed to making this their life's course. Many have and many will in the future. If you're talking about a bunch of random second-rate gamers going on a whim, then of course it would be much more difficult. Among the foreigners that actually matter, many have already made the trip and those who haven't generally made the choice not to go despite being able to do so. I can't think of any serious foreign competitor that wants to go, but just hasn't found a way to get there yet.

Oh, come on. That's the very nature of democracy. Don't be one of those people who thinks a poll is legitimate when the poll reflects on the person's opinion favorably, and the opposite when the poll favors opinions you disagree with.

I would say to let them play, as long as they submit videos like everyone else. Everyone who submitted their application has been waiting for this sort of event with passion, having koreans just ferried over and basically handed over the money without them actually making any efforts is retarded.
In general, the approach that korean players have towards the NASL sounds more and more like "hi me [insert name here] give me monies me play kkkkk". No korean, so far, has taken the effort of explaining why they should be in the NASL. They need a translator? Let them fetch one. It's in their best interest to be part of the NASL, they do not deserve any free invites regardless of their level of play.
