imo they should have kept shakuras, fixed metalopolis so you can't spawn close position anymore and add an own terminus-re- or crevasse-like map to the pool. i agree that they shouldnt just implement maps from tournaments, but i would really appreciate if they'd look at them and embrace the good features of them and then make their own maps based on that. need more sc1 like, big macro maps | ||

2)Steppes of War Again, we wanted to reduce the number of rush maps, and Steppes was the most rush-friendly rush map we decided to cut. It's not that we don't like rush maps, but we have learned over the course of season 1 that two-player rush maps are generally more one-sided than four-player rush maps. For the ladder map changes, the rush possible maps we'll have will be four-player maps only. | ||

The new ones all look pretty meh and have some features that are bound to be abused in the future. When will blizzard realize that the community is much more able at creating good maps than blizzard themselves? The reasoning for taking out shakuras just kinda goes to show blizzard don't want sc2 to be a macro oriented game but rather a "let's do our 1 base timings and see who comes out on top!!!" game. Can't wait to be tank pushed through the corner sloping down to a plateau with multiple choke points right beside my natural on LT close pos. | ||

Typhoon peaks does look interesting though. Shattered Temple... certainly an improvement over LT. As for the other maps they will probably get opted out on but owell. | ||

Slag pits could be a rush map, but it is still better than 2 players short maps, at least you NEED to actually scout to be successful at rushing, and as a defender, if you scout in a decent manner, you can very well prepare for it. So, this new map pool is actually a pretty big step forward in comparison to the old one. | ||

I just played a game on the new Lost Temple, and I don't really like it ![]() The single Xel'Naga is only useful in cross position games and the choke at the natural is a lot bigger so it's harder to defend. LT was nice before because you could use about 3 FF's to defend from your natural. | ||
