My favourite maps will be Xel Naga and Scrap Station on the ladder, also GSL Crossfire, because they are 1v1 maps that make sense in 1v1. I also used to like Shakuras, because it had so many options it which it could be played out. Sure some of the 2v2 maps in 1v1 can be okay but the symmetrical design just takes away so much startegy. I want 1v1 specific maps for 1v1 no lazy map maker symmetrical designed 2v2 maps. | ||

Close positions are too, well, close - and I despise the THREE entrances to your nat. I haven't played the other maps - although The Shattered Temple looks better than Lost Temple, at least. Why Blizzard don't just implement the GSL maps is beyond me. I also find it hilarious that they remove Shakuras and leave Delta. | ||

Also, if you read the last sentence in every map description, they start to sound the same. "Destroy rocks to have a 10 seconds access point to your opponents natural" FUCK YOU ROCKS. | ||

In almost any tournament, GSL, European or online the most intense and exciting matches were always (for me at least) played on Shakuras and Xel Naga. I do agree that Shakuras needed to be changed as the dynamics of the back rocks were really overpowered for zerg matchups but overall, the map has proven to be one of the most interesting in the pool. What makes Shakuras so damn fun to watch!? The possibilities end game! Everyone loves an intense macro match, but maps like Metalopolis (cross pos) that encourage late game play only to have a narrow hallway through both sides of the map. There is little breathing room late game in Metalopolis which is why too often we see 200 food armies clashing and the game ending. Shakuras is so perfect because of the vulnerabilities of the 3rd/4th/5th/6th/7th expansions. It encourages drop play and split armies, large fights, small fights and an amazing amount of strategical positioning. I can name almost all my favorite games, right off Shakuras: MVP vs MKP, Clide vs Leenock (best tvz of all time?), Boxer vs (a terran I can't quite remember mass orbital game), Boxer vs SKS, Sanzenith vs Nestea, and many more I can't remember off the top of my head. Sometimes I alt tab out of GSL, but I always watch, regardless of the players, if its on Shakuras. | ||

At least they took out test map 5, which was awful. Don't know why they kept Slag Pits or the new Blistering. At least 2 of the new maps were good, and maybe Shakuras was an error (please please please) | ||

Blackwater Gulch' 3rd seems very hard to get, especially if your opponent spawns clockwise compared to you (once again, a map with possitional imbalance because of circular symmetry -_-) Slag Pits doesn't even have a third apart from a that rediculously placed gold? I don't like the changes they made to LT, the rocks onto the island expansion open up a far too easy attack path into your natural, but atleast they took away the highground for tankdrops Iguess.. Typhon peaks I like the most, but I see ALOT of possible tankharass positions, so i think it'll turn out heavily terran favoured. Once again a map that really relies on the spawn positions wether it's gnna be a good one or not, cross poss spawns will make for awesome games I think ![]() | ||
