Why are all the new map naturals 5+ force fields wide? Didn't we already have the discussion that 1 base all ins are too strong so we should make maps that reward skilled play.

Even the hastily made GSTL maps brought alot more to the table than this -.-.

I was really hoping they'd look at the GSL maps, although they seem a bit toss-favored, they were exciting maps nonetheless... really not liking the new maps. The trend seems to be "farther distance from ramp to natural," which heavily discourages any type of FE. It's a huge risk to FE on all the three new maps, because of either multiple entrances (rocks) to the natural, distance to natural from ramp (bunker/spine/canon cant cover both natural and main) or just the natural being extremely wide open. It's obvious from the maps that are considered decent (xelnaga, shakuras, etc) that people like maps that do not enforce one category of openings. However, the new maps seem to prevent any type of FEs...

I'm actually having quite a bit of fun on the new maps. Then again, I'm a shitty zerg player. But I'm having a much easier time against other toss and terran players.

Backwater gulch seems like a 4 player version of blistering sands when I play on it. I do not think it's possible for zerg to hatch first vs toss on this map due to cannons on the low ground either.

My largest issue with the three new maps (excluding LT remake) is the extremely difficult to hold natural expansions. Combining many entrances and a long distance between the main ramp and natural expansion with the short rush distances present in close positions I do not see how these maps benefit this matchup in anyway.

This feels like roach/ling or early gate pushes will dominate this matchup on all three maps. The same reason I did not play on blistering sands.

Also, what the fuck shakuras plateau?!?!

i cant understand they let delta quadrant in and put shakuras out ...

and overall nice maps but i rly rly like the gsl maps more to bad

were these the new maps that were on the practice server for a bit? i also read a bit that shakurus was not the best map. i think toss too strong 2 base?

Blizzard is seriously bad at map making. Except for Shattered Temple, which is nice indeed, why can't they ever make a map with a normal natural layout?

These new maps, with the exception of Shattered Temple, made me go to the PTR. Somehow they managed to make the three maps even worse than what they took out.

Shakuras close positions could be tricky is probably why that was removed new maps is always a good thing.

Steppes is gone and replaced with a 2/3 of the time version instead of 100%.


On a side note I am fairly certain that they didn't incorporate the GSL maps because they don't have very many destructible rocks.

im dissapointed to some extent, however this is an improvement and a step in the right direction. I think its safe to say things will only get better now.
Edit: id like to point out that my dissapointment only stims from leaving delta in, shak ouyt, and no gsl maps as of yet however i am very excited about the new maps and very hopeful as well. Il be laddering and coaching all day tomorrow so il get to play on them a lot :D

The maps are sooooo good i think, it will require alot more skills and apm to master this game now!

I really enjoyed the games I played on Typhon and I think this map is exactly what I was hoping for. The new LT is sorta cool, mostly just fixed terran imba crap. Backwater gulch just looks stupid and makes me glad I no longer play zerg. I have no idea how zergs are going to defend natural+main with the destructable rock placement, looks like a pretty terrible map Slag pits is decent as well, nothing gimmicky, kinda stripped and dry, but relatively big and open.


This is definitely a better map pool than the previous one, even without shakuras. The destructable rocks in the shakuras mains were kinda dumb anyway, even if it was otherwise a very good map. Of course a GSL map pool would be much better than this, but I'm pretty impressed with Blizz.

It's still a pretty decent map. After all if you spawn close positions on Metal you're pretty much dead too, yet people have called that the most balanced Blizzard map. Though I guess you can vote it and Metal down.

its really really strange that they removed shakuras plateau. one of the best maps out there for sure and definitely my favorite 1v1 map .. why why why blizzard, why?!?!
