Hi, guys (my first post here). I second the notion about having no cable to deal with. That has so far been my favourite ever setup. With a simple, small-sized 800 dpi Logitech EX110 (i.e. basic wireless desktop solution) mouse, it allowed me to position the rodent the way I like (22:30 hours) at impunity. Sticking two layers of teflon sliders underneath and using a rough pad (never been able to find a good one on purpose, the one that worked like charm was a small-sized circle-shaped souvenir from a Greek museum... I have no idea how the guys did it but they managed to find the sweet spot) finally made me able to micro again (the last previous time I was able to micro was ball mice and Westwood-style games). The problem? Sensitivity depending on battery life remaining. Seriously, that's a problem. Much worse than simply having to slap batteries out and in when the mouse dies without warning during the game (which did happen). I just couldn't stand having different mouse sensitivities and being unable to rely on the same feeling at all times. Now I can't stand the inability to position the mouse at 22:30 hours and the cable drives me mad. It's no longer the same after using a mouse that didn't have a cord at all. Ah, possible other problem: batteries can be heavy. When you do want weight, it's cheaper and probably more natural/efficient than using weights, which are a marketing factor. When you have RSI... who knows.

I wrap it around my speaker. I imagine any solid object will do.

mouse bungee is ridicously unneeded, a piece of cellartape or a book will do the same job without managing to make you look like a bad nerd.

Stuck these things to the wall with putty. Kinda ugly but works wonders. A similar, neater looking contraption will replace these eventually ^^

I used some kind of plastic sticky hook for cables i found in my brand new PC case

I plug it on the left side of the laptop and run the cord behind it, no tape or ridiculous bungee thing needed

Mine works worse when anything is even touching the cable. Or I'm seeing things. But I gave it an additional layer of sliders today and it's been nice so far.
