I have a question:
Shouldn't Huk and Hayder be able to qualify in a offline tournament for Code A?

I mean they don't deserve a foreigners spot if they won't make it.

That makes no sense at all. Why should they be treated differently than other foreigners who aren't S/A already? Just because they're in Korea and have access to offline tournament doesn't mean that other players (who would probably never make it past the qualifiers either to "deserve" it) should be automatically picked instead.

If anything they should be among the first to get picked due to their experience with the qualifiers / GSL and the professional training time they spent in Korea, which probably makes them a level above players who would arrive to Korea for the first time and thus more "worthy" of entering the actual tournament.

Foreigners only

Over 100 people are saying SeleCT anyway, so why not?

I cant understand why people are saying SeleCT he is Korean. He qualifies for the code A prelims anyway because of his current Korean ladder rank.

I thought the point of this was to enable 4 foreigners a chance to qualify that dont play on the korean ladder and dont have anywhere to stay for the time they got out to qualify. If we vote for people who would qualify anyway its like taking away 4 more foreigners we could have had.

This needs to be approached in a different way.

John, find out who is available and can make the trip first out of ones who don't qualify from the ladder anyway and then maybe approach us or get day9 to organise a tournament for them to decide amongst themselves.

For the people alredy in Korea, i suport giving Huk a spot , but i don't think Hayder realy deserves one. There are far more deserving foreigners of that spot than him, I think people should be fair, and not nominate people only based fanboism.
Yeah i know he is a Liquid team member and this site is TL, and we all love TL, but i hope people don't just nominate based on that.

This is exactly why Select, Huk and Haypro should be considered for the 4 Code A foreigner spots. They are already in Korea, so they have the experience of playing on the Korean server for a couple of months. Plus, they are settled, so they don't need to adjust to any transition bumps. They have the best shots of making it far in the Code A tournaments and hopefully achieve Code S.

Select is ethnically Korean, but he has dual citizenship and was living in the United States for a while. So, he's Korean-American. When Korean-Americans travel to South Korea, they are seen has foreigners because people can tell by how they act differently and how they speak.

If possible, then SeleCT. HuK should be there obviously and HayprO I guess too. They're already in Korea, so I think they're the best bet. BratOK would be great, although I have no idea how he's been doing lately.

It's not just about nominating a specific TL member, but making sure that Team Liquid can be represented in the Team Leagues. The more Team Liquid members participating in Code A and S, the higher the chance Team Liquid can enter the team leagues. Plus, Hayder is really good. He's been doing well in the smaller tournaments, and I feel like his experience in Korea is starting to show in his play.

Well for all the people saying its obvious why HuK, Hayder, etc should be given the spots, I think its perfectly reasonable to argue that they can try to get through regular qualifiers like Koreans since they are already in Korea and that we, as a community, should use this opportunity to suggest players who might not otherwise go to Korea in order to get even more foreigners a shot. Argument makes sense to me both ways though :/

Alou, you bring up a good argument, but don't you think it's better to have 100% certainty that the foreigners in Korea make Code A? There's always a chance that they become sick or something unexpected happens that prevents Huk, Hapro, or Select from advancing in the Code A qualifiers/preliminaries.

Plus, wouldn't you agree that the three foreigners have the best shot because they've have the experience and have comfortably settled down in Korea. If we have new foreigners moving to Korea in February, they won't have enough time to adapt, settle down, and experience the korean starcraft 2 style.

Not sure how accurate your information is since I thought Select has spent a majority of his life in Korea and only stayed abroad for his studies during the last few years, and also how long it usually takes to obtain the US citizenship. However, I will take your word for it, but you cannot give a privilege meant for real foreigners to someone who holds a Korean citizenship even if he has a dual citizenship and is considered by some Koreans to be a "foreigner". Select is pretty much fluent in Korean and speaks a somewhat broken English from what I can tell. I think he has a limit to how long he can stay in Korea each year because of the army issues anyway.

Morrow just for the 0.1 % chance that he'll face Idra eventually.

Otherwise I'd be happy to see Mana or Dimaga playing.

I think the 4 foreigner places should lure more people to korea. It's to risky to go to Korea only to participate in the qualifiers. Haypro and Huk are already there. So the chances that we see more foreigners in Code A are bigger when they are playing in the qualifiers.

"why should they be treated differently" is exactly my thought. Haypro didn't show anything in foreigner tournaments yet and I don't think he would do better than people like BratOk, Sjow, Dimaga and Fenix.
