Imo Broodwar chat channels were the best, minus the flood and load bots. I hope they do something similar instead of opening up the small tab screens.

Well, the OP states the obvious, 100% correct - I can only speak from my wc3 experience since PTR isn't available for Europe but the only one ever denying the importance of chat-channels was Blizz.

Still the layout seems weak, Blizz has some way ahead of them to get to the standard they've already reached with wc3 (...ludicrous in itself...)

Just spent about 3 hours on the teamliquid channel. Spec'd some nice games, a few not so great. This is wonderful, this is what sc2 really needed. People have a place to go and play, with spectators watching their every move. The pressure is on and you have a relevant place to play a game or two. If you aren't playing, you get to discuss live matches any time you want. Wow! Where was this feature? I welcome 1998, this is so fucking good.

But my question is do you get kicked for idling to long? personally I liked that about BW. But with these limits good luck getting into teamliquid channel with 93 people afk. And slow mode is a crock of shit.

It's nice to have some human interaction in between games. I think it was one of the main things slowing down how often I laddered. SC2 felt so lonely. You were alone staring at a screen, then you were alone playing against someone else, then you were alone again. Chat channels are gonna really spice up the community, and it reminds me of BW <3

Hopefully channels like teamliquid will get extra slots and sub-channels, oh and people who are "away" in a channel need to be kicked.

it looks like a group chat more than a big chat room ( or a lobby etc ). Not bad but at the moment it looks far from what players expected. 100 person limit is waaay too low.

This has nothing over playing in Windowed Mode ( Fullscreen) and have a TL Irc at the background
