Weekly Cup Competitions
Week of October 20 - 26

The week of October 20-26 was somewhat light on weekly cup action, but the calendar was still packed with other events such as WardiTV October and Crank's Proleague-style event (we'll recap those results when they conclude), as well the usual array of showmatches and smaller cups.
The cup tournaments saw Clem and MaxPax split the regular Monday/Tuesday weeklies, while Creator came out as the surprise winner of Cranky Duckling's October finals event.

October 20: Monday Night Weeklies #27

MaxPax picked up the first cup win of the week, coming back from the losers' bracket to defeat Clem in a hard-fought finals (3-2, 2-1). Overall, the post-patch PvT trends from the previous week seemed to hold, with a lot more opener diversity on the Protoss side match-up. While Clem continued to show his might in late-game PvT, as the results show, MaxPax could still find ways to finish his opponent off before the game reached that phase (VOD).

October 21: PiGosaur Cup #54

Clem came out on top in the PiGosaur Cup, going through ZesTea, Nicoract, Solar, and herO on his way to the weekly title. herO continued to show how different players are adapting to the new PvT environment, reverting to more Robo-centric play (with more all-ins mixed in). While herO managed to keep things close by pushing Clem to five games, he couldn't overcome Clem's impressive late-game play in the deciding set (VOD (3h15m start)).
While neither reached the final, ByuN and Solar deserve a shoutout for producing yet more macro-game bangers in weekly cups. The two seem to have signed a pact to play only honorable macro games (slightly surprising given ByuN's penchant for throwing in cheeses in other match-ups), which is something the viewers certainly appreciate.

October 26: Sparking Tuna Cup October Finals

Cranky Ducklings' Sparking Tuna Cup series of tournaments concluded with another monthly finals, bringing in the top eight players from the previous competitions. The cup ended up crowning a rare non-Clem/herO/MaxPax/Classic winner, with Creator beating the odds to take down herO in the finals. Cheese and chicanery are usually at the heart of PvP upsets, and while this was technically true, it was actually herO who was the one being aggressive in this situation. However, Creator's defenses held firm, and he defeated the heavily-favored herO 3-1 in the finals (VOD).
