This patch is hilarious.
Really thats the only word i can find to describe how i feel about it.
I don't agree with a lot of changes except medivac, FG, building health, and thats about it.

Rax/supply change and reaper upgrade at factory makes me think Blizzard really has no idea what they are doing. Reaper speed upgrade will be researched maybe a total of two times now in the next year in all of Bnet (statistical odds of misclicking).

And the voidray nerf is purely due to their popularity in team-games, which is another bad sign. Trying to balance the game for 2v2/3v3/4v4 will be disastrous for 1v1 in the long run

I liek this patch. A bit confused about the flux vanes speed nerf but hopefully it will be something like the roach increase in food, alot of people thinking it would spell disaster but in actuality it sort of worked out ok.

Cooldown isn't a new mechanic. Storm has a 2 second cooldown for example. Not to mention build stuff..

Oh snap. Did not expect a patch so fast.

I didn't think the Void Ray nerf was really necessary though, but life boost for buildings is a nice change. I hope Roaches will be used more now.

i am very sad to see ultralisk splash wasnt fixed..it seems blizzard is doing another stealth nerf to zerg and keeping it (a la neural parasite duration, never listed in any patch note ever)

thank god they nerfed medivac speed, been suggesting that for quite a while

awesome, if it's true i hope it will be implemented soon. Though the nitro pack thing removes reapers from the game. Which is actually a good thing, but not from the game developer's point of view i guess

IMO it was at least in part a 1v1 fix. Ever get 7 rax reaper proxy reaper rushed? It's almost impossible to stop unless you scout it almost immediately (which is tough, because by the time your drone gets to their base, you're SOL and the first reaper is on the field).

I think it is still viable, but now you can have a few lings out to deal with the initial harass.

Uh, it's hardly impossible to stop a 7 rax reaper. You're going to lose drones, sure, but he's already cut a lot of SCVs.
But yeah, not going to see any really early rax again.


It's much easier if you go 10-13 pool. A more macro style play, either 14 hatch or 14 pool makes it much tougher. Especially with reaper speed, you can get hit extremely hard and sometimes lose outright until/unless you get your queen.

Voidrays nerfed so Blizzard can keep making maps with destructible rocks in the the mains? Bleh. Might as well just replace it with the scout.
It's supposed to be automatic but actually you have to press this button.

Fast reaper basically turns 14cc/nexus/hatchery into an auto-loss in the relevant matchups. The change probably created just as much variation as it cut, IMO.

i really like this patch. i didn't think the void ray nerf was necessary, but i understand it. while they may not be imbalanced in diamond, i know they're almost unbeatable in bronze-gold. lot of players are just giving up on the game because they're so OP at lower skill levels, and blizzard won't have that.

what i really love is the roach buff. i'd be willing to bet roach openings will actually become viable again.

but i'm willing to bet a lot of terrans will fall in rating after this patch. i hope blizzard doesn't assume that it is imbalanced, but understands that it will just be bad terrans finally losing to zergs who totally outplay them.
