I was really impressed with Cool's play in game 1 in particular. He just had to multitask so much harder than the Terran player, utilizing mutas, lings, roaches, baneling drops and just the right amount of stall for Ultras. Tastosis commented on how he's going for everything but truly for Zerg since there are such a lack of units you really do have to upgrade 4-6 different things to have the same sort of tactical variety as the other races. Each upgrade taking up 100 or more gass, it's just a pain. Everything has a speed upgrade, baneling, roach, ling, overlord, and unlike charge and blink or stim, the units are pretty damn useless without the upgrade. Do you mean that cool should've lost to top, who is 1/5 as skilled, because of the current imbalance? Also what'd you think of Cool's play in this series overall? Game 2 seemed like he had a nice tactic with hiding the nydus from scan but unfortunately Top went blue flame. Also I think Cool wanted to end the game right there so he had to go after and try to surround those hellions rather than just doing some econ damage. I feel that could've ended the game if Top had gone anything but blueflame.

He got the jump on TOP and should've used that to go straight for the workers, killing his economy. He should've been micro'ing right from the start, and not rallying right in to Hellions. No, he would have gotten like 5 workers this way, and then all his lings would have been roasted by igniter hellions. It would have been very easy for TOP to move his hellions into the mineral line and surround them with SCVs. I don't see how Cool would have killed any of TOP's army once the SCVs are involved. Cool's strat was so all in that he basically needed to win with his lings at that point. There was no way for him to be happy with just a few SCV kills. 1 base Zerg versus 1 base Terran is pretty much instant loss.

I think he means that he should have lost the match due to game 3 (where even Cool said he was about to gg), and that top is a much worse player. Basically, because zerg sucks so much he almost lost a match which he should have taken easily. Baller 1st post imo.

He needed to have had 3/4 of his lings chase the helions, while ~1/4 worked the mineral line. If the workers turn to attack the lings, run away. Waste mining time, etc.

Easier to surround, and keeps the Hellions busy -- if not dead -- while a third of your lings do their thing in the SCV line. Seriously, go back and watch that game, pencilcase. He played like ass. Once he moves his hellions into his own SCV line, he can just repair them indefintely with no need to kite at all. Lings would have melted really quickly with much less damage. And 1/4 of his lings on the SCVs would have been insufficient to surround them. Seriously, if TOP just put his SCV's on autorepair and made a wall with them, their was no way for Cool to kill any SCV without completely surrounding the whole group by using all his lings. It's not like Cool had hundreds of lings to start with. He only had like 30 and lings have really crappy DPS unless you commit all of them to surround. And Cool tried really hard to surround the hellions, it's just really difficult without creep. There's a reason Cool went for the units first: he absolutely needed to finish them off before they could run back to the mineral line and use SCVs as a shield. Moving lings back toward the mineral line would have only made TOP's job easier. Again, I'm not saying that either player played perfectly. But I am arguing that Cool's decision making was perfectly justifiable. Can any of you provide any micro technique Cool could have used to win that game given both player's starting Build Orders? From what I'm hearing, it seems like by following your advice Cool may have gotten a few more workers and killed a few less fighting units, certainly nowhere near enough to have kept him in the game. I don't want to make a big deal out of this, just arguing since I've tried mass ling all ins like this before and it's very surprising how slowly even a large group of lings deal damage and how quickly they can die to a handful of units.
