I don't believe it would cost the sponsers any extra money, since its still 10 players, whether it be one team or two. Would you then let all of them compete in NASL?
Hey guys, just wondering when and if your gonna have PainUser on the show again? I really enjoy having a Terran on the show now and again vs jsut toss and zerg pros. Really love the show, look forward to it each week. Keep up the good work!
BTW that fat cat gif from the broadcast was absolutely hilarious XD
I don't know where to chime in on this so here it is:
If you're the 6th best player on your team, and dead set on joining the NASL, then your only options are to get better or get a new team. I have never, and most likely, will never be on a professional gaming team and I just don't see a problem with a 5 man limit on it. I know esports and 'regular' sports are different, but I'm a fan of SCII just like I'm a fan of the Denver Broncos. They only have 11 spots on each side of the ball and hundreds of people each year trying out to get it, and they can choose from the best to fill that roster... Why can't a pro gaming team have ~10-15 people on it and then choose their best 5 to send to the NASL?
(PS, I'm a terrible silver league player who loves SOTG, keep it up you's)
To JP: Code S won't actually be good until Code A is good because if there are still so-so players in Code A they have the chance to reach Code S. After that then the GSL might become almost two separate Code S level tournaments with Code A perhaps getting a few so-so players reaching it from the Code B(i think) qualifiers.
To Idra: A very subtle change, but also a good one for zerg as a buff would be to remove the creep mechanic and make the normal speed the normal speed regardless. Perhaps still retain the possibility to spread creep as a "cockblock," but eventually terrans will fly around with a single banshee and raven and protoss the same with observer + voidray constantly removing all creep tumors without facing any real harm. This will greatly improve the surround and flanking ability zerg is supposed to have making it more possible to attack at a 360 degree angle and giving zerg the ability to punish units that travel too far. This one change might not completely balance the game, but I don't see how it would hurt any matchup on the whole besides ZvP if lings can now get there earlier, but then again if the maps keep going towards the general direction that won't be too large of an effect.

If I understood it correctly it'll be like an individual tourney but with max 5 players from each team (and being on a team is req. for anything but the open) and reduced chance of Incontrol taking Machine out in the first round, and vice versa.
I hated in basketball when they started 5 other players instead me, it's like WTF I'm on the team too!!! 5 players per team is fine, become better then the top 5 in your team if it's an issue.

It creates competition instead of cooperation within teams. It's different from BW players competing to be sent out in PL because that's a team league while NASL is an individual league.
People have been mentioning the proposed solution of splitting a larger team into two in order to get all the players in. Unfortunately, a dual team like that is just as likely to arrange wins for each other as a single team, which is the whole reason for the 5 player cap.

That's hardly a fair comparison. It's hardly about a 5v5 with only 5 players allowed to participate, and frankly the worst (relative term) player in a really good team like Liquid will likely be better than a lot of players who can participate. Which is the prime reason for this cap being silly, in my opinion.
But eh, like they said on the last SotG it's hardly a huge issue now as there are very, very few teams with stacked roosters and there are obviously pros and cons, but the principle remains the same. Rather see a good player from a great team compete than an average player from an average team, if the 5 player cap will still be around when (if) teams get larger and better overall.

Or does it have to be at least 5 players per team?
I'm really curious to know what qualifies as a "team." Do they need sponsors? Can someone be on a "team" just by adding a tag to their names and inviting a few friends to do the same?
I feel like they didn't think that through enough. I understand why you want players to be on a team, but where do you draw the line on what a "team" is?
Korean Zergs try baneling drops, heavy infestor play, hive tech switches to try and figure out how to deal with very tough matchups... yes its very hard but they try hard Idra hides behind the "i didn't practice" excuse and makes a show about how imbalanced the game is instead. Not really the right attitude for a true competitor imo.

Quoting Xeris from another thread: "A team is a recognized entity that has player(s) playing under a single banner, has a website, and is able to support their player(s) financially."
Which is quite interesting, afaik a team like ROOT doesn't have any financial support to speak off, does that mean that they won't be allowed to participate?
It seems to me there are quite some things overall that they haven't thought through yet.
basketball teams can rotate their 5 players without waiting for a whole new season. Not hating on their layout, just thought the analogy was bad. especially when incontrol hates it when people compare esports to other sports lol.
lets just be happy about this, because its super exciting, and see how it goes. This isn't a one hit wonder.
Here's hoping that Idra won't become a regular member of SotG, him and Incontrol together are unbearable, and JP seems to follow their suit more often that not.

What IdrA needs is someone to pat him on the back, and say, "I respect you as a friend and a teammate. But this 'Zerg is imba' shit is hurting your game. You're still in the top 1-percentile of all players. Now stop being so fucking emo and win shit, you crazy sad-sack bastard."

But I do wish Incontrol would lighten up just a bit with the caster mockery. Even if it's all meant for humor, nobody likes being made fun of. I just feel like its in bad taste to single out people to make fun of them.
If Incontrol were to make fun of Europeans, I'm fine with that. But for Incontrol to single out TotalBiscuit on the past 3 State of the Games, that's kind of dickish.
I said his name 30 times and "shout craft" in a bad english impression.
Get thicker skin lol
You didn't say anything about KevinIX so I'm sure he's not personally hurt by it, he doesn't need to grow thicker skin.
It's just the show is for entertainment right? Sometimes it comes across as bullying. And a lot of people find that uncomfortable to sit through, or at least not entertaining.
It's a really fine line and of course the only way you are going to find it is from feedback and being told when you've gone too far. Don't take it as an attack, take it as feedback on how to make the show even more entertaining. Or, you could choose to ignore it I guess.
Overall great show though to everyone involved, I really enjoy it. I don't have any friends who play SC2, and this might sound sad, but this acts as my substitute for talking to friends about SC2.
