It has to go on MLG.tv
I'm not sure if having it chopped to pieces on MLG.tv and with delayed upload is beneficial to them in the long run, it may very well backfire. Taking a great and popular product and making it way worse only to get hits on your website isn't very elegant, the audience might not like that.
It could very well be more beneficial to MLG to have a flawless running promo show(yeah that's what it has become) hosted somewhere else if that enhances the experience for the viewers.

I really wouldn't mind as much if it went up at MLG instead of blip, if MLG gets a fucking decent media player.

I wouldnt mind this if it could be done in a smooth way for once. I really love the show and have listened to it since ep 1 but it seems to me that the changes is very fucking weird. I get that the show needs to have a little more focus on MLG, both because of sponsoring and the show being wathced by mostly americans and that is fine. But it seems every episode is just extremely much MLG / GSL.
That said at least the latest episode actually talked strategy and I will continue to support the show for a while because of said affection. I only hope that it does not become a "MLG FTW" show
Also I rather miss the guests but i guess that was extremely time consuming and hard to pull off. It just seems like the balance / strategy discussion comes along in a more organic way with other people butting in

I just hope next time it won't encode in lossless, a show broadcasted by webcams doesn't need lossless, it doesn't even need h264, divx 3.1 made in 2000 could work :D What I mean is, it seems you're using a bulldozer to kill a fly, I hope it's not the only technical solution you have and that you'll be able to change it next time.
(I say that but the MP3 is good enough for me)

I just don't understand why go through all that trouble without actually testing it first. And you could still upload to blip and just go with mlg a whole week later (think of this last part with incontrol's blizzard mocking tone).
Also, just encode at around 1200 kbps and you won't even have to ever split the files, unless you do like a 5 hour cast, the show is basically a static image with maybe 20% of it actually changing. It will look good at whatever resolution and bitrate you want to use.

Sucks. That combined with later posting means I probably just won't ever watch another SOTG VOD. Oh well. Will still hit up the recordings of course.

It is time to move back to mp3 version, like old good times...
I really like the new format personally.
Especially what JP was doing with it last week and the highlight on talking thing.

I understand that the goal of Sotg is to become "flawless running promo show" for Mlg (to quote an earlier post), but i think that will slowly kill the show. Just compare the present Sotg with the "8 months ago Sotg".
I understand JP's point of view on this matter because if i were in his shoes i will probably do the same thing, but what is good for JP is bad for Sotg. I hope i'm wrong

Im not saying that it is unreasonable or something from MLG. And I really do like and appreciate alot of stuff MLG's doing.
But it just seems to me that SOTG is suffering from it.

"Just compare the present Sotg with the "8 months ago Sotg"."
They're almost exactly the same. Seriously. Go back and watch an AVERAGE episode of SOTG back then.
Basically with SOTG, some weeks are off weeks. The show is fun, but the mood seems a bit meh/tired/uninterested. This is a Code B level show.
Some weeks are good weeks. There are some awesome things, some meh things, and some merely good things. This is a Code A week.
Some weeks are amazing weeks. There are plenty of stories, laughs to be had all around, lively debates, witty banter, and sometimes interesting guests (though they aren't a requirement for a great show. These are Code S weeks.
There are still quite a few "Code S" weeks. If you go back to like... Episode 49 or 48 (can't remember which), that episode was absolutely hilarious. I laughed literally the entire show.
As long as one episode is like that once every two or so months, I will continue watching the FREE and amazing State of the Game.
I doubt MLG even has anything to do with the discussion being so focused around NASL/MLG. That has to do with the fact that GSL happens at 4 a.m. our time and that NASL and MLG are just really big in North America, and the hosts are all North American.

Must second that. Not all benefits are easy to measure such as site/adds hits. And regular delays in releasing the VODs can hurt the viewer numbers much worse.
Personally it doesn't affect me as much because I have absolutely no desire to watch a bunch of (awesome) guys starting at their web cameras for 2 hours. I just listen to the podcast while doing something else, although bursting into laughter while working out or cycling is often life-threatening.. So as long as I have the audio recording when I wake up on Wednesday morning, JP will still be my favourite person. + Show Spoiler +Taking into consideration the fact that some of us don't see what it is that you are showing on screen won't hurt though.

If ur in such a hurry just listen to the podcast, no need to see Geoffs pointless zoomins anyway
Great work JP!

You realize that MLG has been "sponsoring" SotG for a while now right? This new method your talking about is not new, there have been a few episodes done this way already. So how come this just became an issue?
The new method is how they're video encoding, not who their sponsor is since that isn't a method of video encoding now is it? There have not been ANY episodes done this way b/c if they were I could have watched the VOD right after. They also would have known about the obstacles if they had done it before now wouldn't they?

I doubt it should be much of an issue. Though I don't know about MLG's streaming process, but I would assume they would be speedy loads and played back to back meaning if you start part 1 it will automatically go to part 2. I don't know this for a fact, but it does make sense seeing how most major sites do this now if something is in a series or parts.

Good point. Should be done, but after this much time they might as well keep going through with their plans.

I don't mind the change, because i never had interest in actually watching it. As long as i can still have the mp3 i'd be happy. I do kind of wonder though if there were so many issues with the show on the MLG site, why didn't they just postpone it for next week's show and do this one the good old fine for the viewer way.

MLG is footing the bill and paying the hosts for being on the show. Why does anyone feel the entitlement for a bit of minor conveniences? Would people prefer Day9, Tyler, JP, iNcontroL, and guests not be paid for their time delivering content to us?
The delay and editing is unfortunate, but I am sure that JP and MLG are aware and on top of fixing the workflow.

Just listen the mp3, if you have problems with vods being delayed, other than incontrol's facial impressions, you lose nothing
Specially now that day9's cam getting weaker every day

It's not about anyone being entitled or ungrateful or whatever. It is about the show. A show is nothing without its audience and if the audience has a serious problem with something, the show has a problem. MLG doesn't invest in SotG because they want to help a bunch of guys talk about StarCraft but because they think that people listening to these guys can benefit them. Surely if the audience is deterred from tuning in/watching the VOD/downloading the podcast by something, MLG have a problem. Just because there will always be some morons complaining it doesn't mean that disregarding feedback can do any good.
