So im worried they make chatchannels and you think NICE they did it, work done.
ps: wait until they start selling maps ^^
I don't think you have that much to worry about. People are pretty damn passionate about the forums. Adding chat rooms isn't enough when players will be forced to buy multiple copies of the game to play with their friends that they wish to chat with.

"Do you really want chat rooms?" Really? Really now??? Why the hell were all these threads created for? Why were there so many complaints about no chat rooms?? What a bunch of douchebags. Blizzard don't read these forums, or else they wouldn't have send this retard for the interview.

I can only think that the decisions Blizz has taken here are due to the thought process they developed with WoW over the years. Originally in classic the game catered to hardcore gamers in an extreme way which didn't really pay off for them. However, in Woltk they went the opposite way towards casual players which seems to have netted them a lot more profit. I can't help but think they took this same mindset into developing Bnet 2.0 with stiffing the hardcore crowd thinking it will gain them bigger profits. However, what they fail to realize is that the hardcore community is a lot more important to a game like SC than it is to WoW...they're the ones who kept the first SC alive when it would've otherwise died years ago and without them SC2 will fail in the long run. Hopefully they realize this and make the necessary changes to Bnet before its too late because SC2 itself is a great game that deserves a better service.

It's fine, it's just an everywherechat chat room a few people are in

Wow just fucking wow - now the honesty comes out. Lumping Aussies in asia - this is just.plain.bullshit - sorry guys but this is fucked.

After reading the interview, blizzard has got to be laughing their ass off. Like they seriously are just fucking with us. Just because SOME of the bnet 2.0 populace wont use/care about chat rooms, it shouldnt make it unavailable to ALL of us.

How does the removal of chatrooms benefit the casual gamer? I would reach to say that chat rooms are more important in a bigger way to the more casual and average gamer than a hardcore player.

hmmm. 95% and 81% against status quo. Is this enough of a community-wide demand for you Blizzard?
or are you going to say no unless its 100-0 for both

Totally agreed. If casuals play the game, then it should be even more important for chatrooms to be around since they cant possibly be playing the game 24/7

from bnet forums:
How can i participate in international championships on the B.Net 2.0? It's simple, you can create a European or Asian account and download the client for just an extra 60$
How do i make new friends in B.Net 2.0? During the game, ask if your opponent wants to be your friend. After he takes an epic spanking from your cheese tactic, give him your email and AIM
How do i create a TAG for my clan? Buy another Starcraft , that way you can easly put your clan's tag, just be careful so your clan doesn't end or you don't get kicked, although we all know that rarely happens
How do i know what is my real ladder position? Ask God
How do i create a channel for my clan? www.mirc.com
How do i create a clan? Call your friends and tell em that each one of them should buy a new starcraft 2 game, so they can put the tag, don't forget to ask every new member to buy a new game
How do I set up a clan match? its VERY simple, sign up in an internet forum, give your email to everyone and ask the email of everyone from the opposite clan
In my LAN / tourney / WCG / ESWC the B.Net is lagging / failing, what do I do? Start praying for a pacifist / patient crowd
I wanna change my name, what do I do? Buy a new Starcraft, is'nt it obvious?
I have a friend that plays on Europe, I want to play with him, what do I do? Buy another starcraft (European version), take the opportunity to buy 5 starcrafts, in case you want to change your name, or put a clan tag, or play with an Australian friend
I want to talk to my virtual friends like in the classic b.net, what do I do? Search on forums for email address of random people and add them to your friend list (some are bound to have an account), invite every one of them to your party, and then you will be able to talk

From Aug 22 2009
Battle.net developer Greg Canessa says that Blizzard is actively working on a LAN-like solution to include for Battle.net play in StarCraft II.
"We are working on solutions with regard to things we can do to maintain connectivity to Battle.net in some way, but also provide a great quality connection between players," said Canessa.
Blizzard recently announced that traditional LAN play would not be included in the game, with offline play only being allowed in the singleplayer campaign.
I asked Canessa whether the solution his team is working on might include a pseudo-LAN connection, where the game would only check in with Battle.net to authenticate before reverting to typical LAN behavior.
"Something like that," he replied. "Maintaining a connection with Battle.net, I don't know if it's once or periodically, but then also having a peer-to-peer connection between players to facilitate a very low-ping, high-bandwidth connection.. those are the things that we're working on."
Diablo III lead designer Jay Wilson also confirmed that Diablo III will treat LAN in the same way that StarCraft II does, meaning that while traditional offline LAN will not be included in that game, it should support any Battle.net solution developed for the RTS.

This is why I'm not buying this game. I did consider it, but concluded that it failed its customers too much

I don't know the guy but after reading the chatroom remark he made.
paraphrased: "Chatrooms, you SURE YOU REALLY want Chatrooms?"
I got this image inside of my head immediately. + Show Spoiler +
This guy is terrible at PR and just made a huge mess for Blizzard.

Oh My God. I just realized that Bnet is completely copying Facebook's chat layout, as if the layout is the reason facebook is popular and keeping people connected. -___-;
I would bet 100% that that's the reason they don't want chat rooms, because they feel like if facebook can get by without chat channels and such, why can't they if they organize it the exact same way x_x;..

Eh I disagree...general chat channels are nothing but spam fests so the real use for chat comes from clan use and hanging out in private channels to set up matches which casuals don't take a part in. I doubt you care much about chat if you're just logging in to play some UMS or a couple of bronze 4v4's. The way the ladder is set up also caters only to casual gamers with making everyone feel special with hundreds of division. And taking out LAN/cross server plays only hurts the hardcore crowd not the casual one.

Chat room Chat room Chat room PLZ Its been really difficult to keep up with friends, teams, tournaments and whatnot; creating parties and having to many chat windows and such is not as useful as a chat room would be IMO. I do understand Blizzard thoughts tho.

Relax with the conspiracy theories, take a step back and keep things in perspective. What conspiracy theories are you talking about? We're pissed at the things he himself mentioned. I don't want to fucking play on a server where 90% of the people I face don't speak English and there's no chat rooms to chat with the 10% who do!!!! FUCK. And if Australians did connect to US servers, I'm sure you'd be complaining about terrible lag. What do you want Blizz to do? Fix the Internet? And the conspiracy theories is referring to those talking about Blizz selling what games you have on your account to facebook. Oh, I get it now. You're just stupid. Because pings to Southeast Asia are WORSE than to the US from here. US West was FINE for WC3 and SC.
WRONG snotboogie, WRONG.
US West is FINE for WC3, SC & SC2 We're playing on US now and it's fine - this is seriously, epic stupid from Blizzard - epic stupid.
