Only platinium zerg here but i think the razer naga is realy underestimated.
here is my setup: 1 to 4 : army 5: all hatches 6: nydus or overlord drop 7 to 9 : queens
With a little practice, keys 1 to 9 are easily reachable My technic is to resting my tumb over the number 5 button so you can hit every buttons arround with a small thumb move. 10 to 12 button are a little more difficult to reach, maybe more suitable for upgrade than army. The two small buttons next to left click are useless because they are too difficult to reach.
IMO, Using this mouse has a kind of logic because every selection is done by your mouse while your other hand is only ordering commands.
So if you play in grid mode, you never have to move your left hand from the keyboard. Creating group controls or adding units to an existing control group is realy fast and easy. .
now the cons Each time you press a button with your thumb, your hand will move the mouse from some millimeters. If you play with a very fast mouse curve like me, it can be annoying because you have to compensate the thumb press. So you can lose some accuracy when you select your control groups (don't be affraid this is not as bad as it can sound ^^) Not easy to explain but you get the idee. This is realy not a game changer but i think it's worse mentioning it.
Beyond that , having "9 groups" so fast and easly managable can open a lot of things: harass groups, 4 infestors squad, drop groups, army split, etc
A great mouse imo

I use the macro buttons on my blackwidow as 6-0 so they are alot easier to reach
|
I used to use the buttons, but after switching to a RAT7 and setting it up to fit my hand like the batsuit, I never looked back. Too much going on with the right hand already to ask it to select groups.
Still a razer fan. I love my blackwidow ultimate so very, very much (though glossy bezel was one retarded idea)

hmm dont like tyhe idea of binding stuff to the mosue hand defeats the point of using the keyboard which is to split ur focus on tasks. In any case u should be able to reach from ur 0 key to ur z key if u try, my old habits die hard ^^.

I use one, and quite frankly, the buttons are too uncomfortable to press, especially when in a heated multitasking moment. Just use the black adder and so on. It'll be comfy for your thumb too.
|
Hm, I have one of these and use them whenever I'm playing WoW or something similar (the buttons are actually good) but not for SC2. I have an Abyssus and a Spectre for that
|
I use the number keys. Like, you know, those things on the keyboard.

It seems a lot of Naga users are zerg players. I also bought the Naga back when I mained zerg. My hotkey setup for zerg is: Naga: 1 - Y (patrol) 2 - Backspace (For Rapid Inject Technique) 3 - 4 - 9 (Queens) 5 - 0 (Hatcheries) 6 - 7 - V (Inject) 10 - F5 (camera 1) 11 - F6 (camera 2) 12 - F7 (camera 3) Scroll Button - Shift
Keyboard: 1: Scout 1-5: Army 6: Mutalisks
I'm random now, and my hotkeys for the other two races are: Naga: 1 - Y (patrol) 2 - Backspace 3 - Starport / Stargate 4 - CC/OC/PF / Nexus 5 - Barracks / GW/WG 6 - Factory / Robo 7 - 10 - F5 (camera 1) 11 - F6 (camera 2) 12 - F7 (camera 3) Scroll Button - Shift
Keyboard: 1: Scout 1-5: Army 6: Banshee / Army
Basically, my right thumb is for macro and the keyboard numbers are all for micro. Maybe I should assign 9 to my evo/ebay/forge. I've been manually doing it till now.

Im a naga user and a random player, but i don't use the extra hot-keys on the mouse.
What i DO use the mouse for is its sweet dpi.
I don't have my mouse set to a crazy fast speed of course, but it is very precise.
Firstly mouse acceleration is removed in the naga driver, and then the dpi scale is set to 5600, which is the maximum. (when you do this your mouse becomes more sensitive and moves quicker)
My windows mouse speed is set to the first notch (windows xp) and i think i currently use 16% mouse sensitivity within the game of sc2 itself.
Essentially what i get is fast but precise and smooth mouse control. I think the most important thing in a mouse is for it to be reliable (precise) and accurate. Your left hand should be able to accomplish most macro chores without the need for slowing down your mouse use by using your right hand thumb and the side buttons. In my opinion anyway, the mouse should always have something to do instead of making it easier for your left hand.
