That said, this is something that should absolutely come later after they have fixed the larger issues like not having chat rooms, being able to watch replays together, clan stuff, etc.

Oh Yes!, so we can play with the same people in the same server, thanks to some weirdly thought server restrictions they decided to come up at the last minute. Are you fucking seriously kidding me?. It's not the fact that they are integrating the game, because it's good, it will make more people be aware of it, and well a whole lot more social integration, but I think, there are bigger problems, and solutions that need to be thought out well, instead of "having servers for each region of the fucking world". If you don't know anything about facebook integration you should try and enlighten yourself before you throw your opinions around.

I am rather surprised by that personally, there is a banner in BN chat, with the traffic that it generates they should be able to make decent money from it. Why they weren't selling advertising to companies that don't have a colliding interest with them?

Facebook integration is actually good because the game DOES need to gain more widespread attention in order to build any kind of major e-Sports scene. If you guys want e-Sports to spread so badly, then you should be glad Blizzard is doing this because like it or not, online communities have a ton of potential customers and is basically the best way to expose yourself to the casual market. On the other hand, Blizzard really needs to implement cross-region play as soon as possible. It's rather ironic that we can now easily add friends from across the hemisphere, but we can't play with them. I'd rather play with my overseas friends with lag rather than not play with them at all.

Just put it on that initial news/updates screen.

TL does not represent the larger gaming mass audience. That's besides the point, though. Blizzard's top priority as far as Battle.net 2.0 is concerned should be to make it a good service in it's own right, not rely on connections with other services to make up for it's flaws. For all intents and purposes, when making the new Battle.net, Blizzard should assume that the user does not use any other service and shape Battle.net accordingly. EDIT: It would put me very much at ease if they at least stated in this announcement that this was merely planned and not a priority. As it is, it leaves a lot of room for doubt....

This will allow you to see who is playing SC2 out of your facebook friends. It isn't going to act as a way to insta-add in game friends to facebook. How many times do I have to say it: if you have a 360, go and setup facebook integration on it and see that there are probably a bunch of your "friends" who also have gamertags that you didn't know about. Its pretty useful. Much better for casuals to know where they stand against people they know than 100 random people in their division.

There's no bonus for "longer visiblity". Its just on a per-click basis, more than likely, so it really doesn't matter how long someone stares at the ad if they don't click it.

I had been boycotting facebook for ages and then decided to make an account just for the heck of it, signing up with a false name and my spam e-mail (the one I give to sites I don't trust). I thought I'd have a lurker account for a while. However, the moment I did, I already had three friend requests from people from my high school, five years earlier. Moreover, I was recommended to befriend lots of dudes from a forum I quit two years earlier. How come? Because my spam e-mail was on the MSN list of those people. Facebook "knew" who I was even before I signed up. They were just waiting for my particular e-mail address to become active. So, the e-mail you use with your battle.net account, is it the same e-mail that is registered with MSN/Yahoo/Twitter/your blog/whatever, or could anyone you know possibly have searched for you on facebook using that address? Thought so. Then, they can link it.

Chatting is already in the game all they need to do is add the ability for channels to be persistent rather then tying them to individual people or party's. The transfer of text is so minuscule there is no reason for not having private chat channels in release... Of course it is. Adding a link to facebook is almost trivial. Go have a look at the facebook API. Getting a distributed chat system for a worldwide audience of many millions is order of magnitudes harder. Honestly. If you don't know what youre talking about then its probably best to keep quiet else you look foolish.

I'm guessing you've never used Facebook, but Facebook has had an IM service on their webpage for about a year now, and its probably the most popular IM service at this point. Shit like AIM and MSN is practically dead
