Since it doesnt seem like Blizzard is going to fix the sounds themselves, i truly do hope that this kind of thing will become the norm amongst competitive players. As long as it doesnt give either player an advantage, things like sounds should be mod-able, even on ladder. Ive tried so many times to get into the SC2 sounds, but i just cant. And its not nostalgia. Many sounds are uncharacteristic of heavy weaponry and the attack sounds are too swooshy. The voice acting is nearly all really terrible. I dont know how they managed to get such great sounds in the original, but i have a feeling it was just the brilliance of the guy who was doing it. He really seemed to understand how to put maximum amount of character in just a short little sound effect. Take for example the Observer sounds from SC:BW, multiple layers of subliminal effects to give you the impression it is a stealth spy unit. It should be that even a blind person could hear the sound and get the correct imagery for the function and character of the unit. In the original Observer sounds you hear mixes of whispers, radio static, "tiny" flight noises, and "tiny" electronic/robot noises. Every one of those sounds carries highly subliminal connotive value. They should have used this design principal for all of SC2's sounds.

I hope Blizzard allows it. Anything they dont want to take the time or effort to do, the players and modders should fix.

im working on increasing the volume a bit for most of the sounds, so you may want to hold off on the update

Updated with new version. only update is fixed siege/tank mode sounds, it was backwards, thanks dahead for pointing it out

I can see the usefulness of this sound pack, but personally I think it would be healthier to just learn to adapt to the new sounds, as bad as the zerg "advisor" is. After all, when spectating I'll be forced to put up with whatever the streamer has, and I'd rather get used to it now than continue to be annoyed with it in the future. Thanks anyway though.

Thanks so much - was really looking for this. Can you make a separate file with the SC1 ghost voice? I think a lot of people who prefer the old voice to the new one wouldn't mind just downloading a separate file. Thanks again.

can you elaborate? because I thought I reduced the drone mining sound just a little cus it was too loud (and sc2 kept playingi t over and over)

i think first I raised it cus it was too low. then i tested and found it annoying with a bunch of drones mining at once, so i lowered it. i dont remember to what level though

kinda like some of the voices in SC II but SC:BW sound department is much more better ^_^

Holy crap. I just tried this out. The Overmind is 1000x better than the terrible zerg bitch voice in the game right now. Christ, why does this sound so much better? I really want to say it isn't just nostalgia. I really just feel a lot of the sc2 sounds are very uninspired.

Except for the Immortal, those guys have awesome voices and lines.

I can't see me removing this unless it becomes illegal or they rehaul most of the games sound.
