I just wanted to add that I did finally figure out how to edit the files thanks to everyone in this thread you are all a great resource in me not being annoyed at my game while playing. =]

Also this all works after you relocalize your game if anyone was curious if there was a conflict (there isnt)

fuuuuuuuck. i was just reminded of this thread (because of the thread describing how to put in the medic picture). people have said that it is against the TOS but blizzard doesn't check for mpq edits etc etc. can someone provide a definite 100% answer where it is safe or not to do this?

SC:BW sounds were awesome, there's no denying that. This thread makes me sad every time it's bumped. When this feature was around was some of the most fun I've ever had laddering (although, to be fair, it was probably just the novelty of the game).

Not to necro an old thread, but I just tested this and it works perfectly for me.

No crashing or anything, just simple BW sounds loaded into SC2.

it only works on EU not NA (actually dunno about other regions) sides those 2

Hm? It seems to work fine on NA for me! Sorry to necro a bit! Try using the method described here for NA (Haven't tested unit sounds yet, but interface and building response sounds work fine...)

any update on how this is a reason for a ban from blizzard?

i play protoss now but i can't stand the warp-in sound for buildings... i honestly think thats the worst sound i've ever heard. my ears feel like bleeding :/
would be great to change this with an mpq editor.
