Protoss: can only attack with units that have been warped in with warp prisms. Dropping immortals with warp prisms works too.
After 3rd base you can proceed normally or something like that.
*edit* What is said above is more accurate.
Man, I am having a hard time with this funday monday. Fun, but hard ^^ So far the score between Nighty vs FundayMonday is 0-5 ^^ After showing the warp prism once it's pretty hard to keep going with it, at least for harrass. Basicaly I have had to use it as a movable pylon, but it's so slow and fragile. Have to try with speed upgrade later. Perhaps throw in a colossus drop and then warp in after that :p
Was totally thinking in my head as the video was playing "man, this sounds a lot like Ronald Jenkees"
Low and behold. I'm glad he's still pwning faces with his awesome synth music.

(wasnt able to catch game and it isn't up on blip)
thanks!
Warp Prism Harassss! You have to use a warp-prism to initiate all attacks (units must be warped or dropped from the prism) until you have 3 bases. After 3 bases have been established, you can continue about your business as usual.
Day9 often refers to attacking and expanding at the same time as a basic good RTS fundamental. However, to me this seems very backwards. In a recent GSL Artosis also outlined his reasoning for why when your are expanding is the absolute worst time to attack, basically completely contradicting Day9.
Now far be it from me to claim to know better than the all mighty Thought-Hammer, but to me it seems like expanding while attacking is bad because:
A) Right when you expand you have invested the 400 in a Nexus but have gotten no return on that investment which means you will be about 8 food behind your opponent if he is building units. The longer the game goes the less an 8 food differential matters, and furthermore as time goes on you will start to reap dividends from your investment. Right when you throw down the Nexus is exactly when your army disadvantage should be greatest.
B) If you are expanding you are making an investment in the late game which means if the game goes longer you should have an advantage over your opponent. Why would you do anything that might shorten the game while simultaneously investing in something that will only pay off if the game is not short.
C) Attacking doesn't really protect your expansion. If you have a big enough army that your attack would succeed then you have a big enough army that with the defenders advantage you should have no problem protecting your expo. If anything moving your army out puts your expo at risk to counter attacks. I fully understand why pressuring, or moving your army up and back might be smart while expanding to keep your opponent on the defensive, but actually committing to an attack in any way doesn't make sense to me.
Am I thinking about this incorrectly? This actually seems like such an important fundamental idea that misapplying it could likely lose you a lot of games. I've been doing better since I've stopped expanding while attacking and started focusing on defense if I plan to expand in the near future, and focusing all my resources on my army if I plan to attack in the near future.
There are several reasons why you do that.
As you already said, one of the reason is to put pressure. Another reason is to try and trim his units and if possible just kill his whole force (8 food differential isn't that intense wit ha bit of micro) If you trim his units a bit and back off, he will most likely not move out to counter attack until he can rebuilt what he has lost. Ect,ect
You attack while expanding because you want to buy some time for your expansion to kick in and distract him, cause think of it like this - if he attacks you while your defending and trying to get your expansion up then he will just go all in and try to break it and finish the game since he knows that you are at a food difficit at this point.
Why is it always lagging for me when i watch the stream? I go to Justin Tv and everything is smooth but when i want to watch Day9 is stutters every 10 seconds
did day9 ever do dailies on "how to improve your play" in terms of "press 1 - 5 - 1 - 5 aszerg to track the queen status"?
he did that in one of the last dailies and such hints help me alot. now i wonder if there is a collection of such tricks somewhere out there? all that tactical analysis is great but this is another layer of the Game that you do not hear alot about (or do not really see well in replays).
